Arrow Popularity and Position Leaders

1. Does a popular player amongst fans have the same effect on attendance regardless of whether or not he is starting or is on the bench or even inactive?

2. Does a positional leader have to be a starter in order for him to have an effect on his positional group? Can he simply be a reserve? Does he even have to be on the active roster?

Any input would be appreciated!

1. I don't know

2. I once had a receiver's leader who was my fourth best receiver and hardly ever got into the game...

I think most people have come to the conclusion that both have insignificant effects on the game and are generally ignored.

Not necessarily true. I haven't seen it make a difference in things from my team's perspective, but other teams are reluctant to trade popular players, so it does have an indirect effect. There might be some hidden stats in there as well. It would be a good thing to research...the correlation between popular players and merchandice sales or something like that.

It may well have an effect, but it is so hard to quantify and measure that nobody has ever tried.
