What's your favorite console football game of all time?
Although I am a pro fan first, I'd have to say NCAA 2004 was the best.

I agree. I thought 07 was going to surpass it, but there are a few too many flaws despite it obviously looking better. Yet, I can't bring myself to go back to 04. I keep wanting to find the "perfect slider set" to fix 07's flaws.

Mine was NFL2K1 for the Dreamcast. I played that game nonstop. I still crank it up from time to time for old times sake.
NCAA 2004 was very good as well. |

NCAA 2004 would get my vote as well. I played the hell out of that game.

I caved and bought NCAA 2007, but I still think NCAA 2004 is a better game.

NFL2k5 - game-play and presentation was the best. the off-season/franchise stuff was the only downfall for me.

Tecmo Super Bowl by leaps and bounds. After that, probably NFL GameDay '97 for PSOne, only because my dad and I played the hell out of it. NCAA 2002 would be a close 3rd.

Year for year, I'd say the first Madden for the Sega Genesis. I could never really get into Tecmo, it was just too flawed and limited. Madden was the game I'd been waiting for. I think it was the first game where the player would utilize actual football strategy, and not just strategy specific to a particular video game.

This probably wasnt the best as far as ai goes but Super Play Action Football for SNES is a game that sticks out from childhood because it had high school, college, and nfl all in one game.

Probably the only person who liked it, but I'll go with Super Play Action Football for the SNES. Even if it wasn't very realistic, I loved the overhead view. Also liked the ability to able to play both college and professional in the same game.

Tecmo Super Bowl was the video game that not only got me interested in football, but sports in general. I remember that's where I learned all of the players names for the first time.
When Tecmo Super Bowl II was announced, I tried calling my Toys R' Us (I was only 8 at the time) twice a day to try and pick up a copy. One day, my heart leaped up when they told me they had a copy of it. Unfortunately it was the Genesis version (and I did not have a Genesis). I finally (with my parents help) called Tecmo headquarters where they told me about Tecmo Super Bowl III, The Final Edition. I pre-bought my copy in May although I did not receive it until September. It was so cool, being the first NFL licensed game with both the Jaguars and the Panthers. I think they had also moved the Rams to St. Louis, but the Cleveland Browns were still in there. Unfortunately, the game turned out to be not that good, but I still have a lot of good memories and Tecmo Bowl to thank for converting me to a sports fan. |

I spent way too much time with the PS version of Madden from around 2000 - 2002, back when they first introduced franchise mode. I loved those games.
But, as a wise man once said, the only correct answers are Tecmo Super Bowl and/or Tecmo Bowl.

To me it would have to be Jimmy Johnson's VR Football for the PS one. Bar none the greatest console game ever. On a serious note the most fun and most play time I've had with a console football game would have to be Madden 99 for PS one due to the franchise mode. Up until that time I was a die hard NFL Gameday fan but the franchise mode changed my sports gaming experience which ultimately lead me here to fofc.

Tecmo Bowl should be disallowed so it reads more like "What's your favorite thing to breathe besides oxygen" instead of the really obvious and correct answer.
