NCAA Football week 2 discussions (will contain spoilers)

Oregon State at Boise State kicks things off. In case you were wondering, the smurf turf looks exceptionally bright blue and garish in HD.

Wow, at the end of the 3rd quarter, Boise State is taking it to the Beavers, 35-14.

Just under an hour to kickoff for the early games.

Apart from the three big games today, I'm vaguely intrigued by Washington v. Oklahoma, Oregon v. Fresno State, and Georgia v. South Cackalack.

Sadly, I am somehow unable to get Oklahoma State v. Arkansas State on cable here in Northern Virginia. Don't they understand what a huge game this is???

Looking forward to today's games. Cuckoo and I are going to the Washington-Oklahoma game and I'm going home to watch Ohio State-Texas afterwards. Both should be very good games.

I can easily see Rutgers going 10-2 this year. No jinx intended.

Just looked over the TV schedule General Mike provided (thanks for the linkage), I know it's early in the season but the sum total strikes me personally as pretty meh. There's a couple of obvious standout games but otherwise, I see more opportunity to take naps today than anything else.

Rutgers is looking good and what is even more impressive is they beat a UNC team that is playing Va Tech really tough now.

I'm hearing good things about Rutgers this year. How long has it been since they have been in a bowl?

Rutgers is looking real good right now.

UNC and Va. Tech look pretty evenly matched, but Tech's defense is doing a nice job of creating clutch turnovers and their special teams is still top notch.

WVU's Steve Slaton with a 49 TD on his second carry from scrimmage. I'm really excited about this kid... he is only a true sophomore and looks really good since he earned the starting job last year. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Are you serious?

We beat Army 44-0 in '02. I'm sure there were other shutouts in the last 137 years.

What's the 3rd big game? There's ND-PSU, and OSU/UT of course, but what's the other one??

Akron looks like they could be putting an end to the Chuck Amato era at NC State. The Zips have a 14-0 lead over the Pack with just under 3:00 left in the 4th and they have possession.

They benched him right after the start of the 2nd quarter. 108 yards on 8 carries and 2 TD's. If they didn't bench him so soon, he would have had another 200 yard game. Granted, it was against a I-AA opponent, but still ...

We play again on Thursday, so not a bad move in my opinion.

This is the most overhyped team in the last 10 years, it's pathetic.

And yes, I realize ND is winning but does anyone who's seen this team play honestly see them winning the NC over a OSU or Texas? They'll get run again.
