Steven vs Stephen Jackson

I wouldn't normally bring something like this up, but I've seen it far too often now. It seems like with the majority of previews, picks, fantasy advice, etc. that I read, the writer spells it "Stephen" Jackson.

I always thought his name was spelled Steven? Did he change it? Why would so many writers use Stephen...? Are they being confused because Stephen Davis is on the team now...?

I think he changed it out of fear that everyone would know he used to write dungeons-and-dragons style fantasy books.
