PING: FOF MP Commissioners (jshipman alias)

As some folks know I help run FOFL a league that is commished by FOFCer/FOxLer Allosaurus.

This morning, Allo and I received a tip that our new owner, RomGrnt, is probably Justin Shipman. Those who follow the soap opera at FOFC know that Shipman was booted from multiple leagues for cheating. Here is the primary thread that covers it at the IFL. Here is the referencing thread over at FOFC.

Anyway, like I said, Allo and I got a tip this morning that someone on another board got an ip match between RomGrnt and jshipman (romgrnt is in several other on-line leagues).

I kind of went all net detective and with the help of Simms (FOFL webmaster) and Ryan S (FOFC webmaster) found out the following:

His ip at FOFL is 24.255.132.150, according to Simms

That EXACTLY matches the IP address of three FOFC users:

DALLAS_GM

jms

MAN_IN_BLACK

Dallas was jshipman2's favorite team and I assume jms is just this guy's initials.

Jshipman2 and jms have same profile brthday and again, jms has ip match for RomGrnt at FOFL.

The email address that RomGrnt uses at FOFL is [email protected], which matches the email used to request a team over at eNFL. And obviously there is a profile with that name at FOFC that has a matching ip for jms and romgrnt.

Here are his signup emails:

FOFC

jshipman2: [email protected]
Man_in_black: [email protected]
jms = [email protected]
Dallas_GM = [email protected]

FOFL

RomGrnt = [email protected]

The ip address of jshipman2 does not match the others, but if you run an ARIN WHOIS on it and the others they all originate from the same host (Cox in Kansas).

His timing of emailing allo about the league coincides exactly (3/9/06) with the resignation drama at PFL.

Anyway, I am making this a seprate thread from the one Antmeister started because MP GMs need to know about this guy. "Grant Romero" (RomGrnt) is in a number of MP leagues and in one (PFL) lobbied (as romgrnt) for the reinstatement of his alter-ego (jshipman), before asking (as jshipman) for his consideration for reinstatement to be removed.

To this point, he and I have traded PMs and he maintains that he is Grant Romero. Fair enough.

We are removing him from FOFL, effective immediately.

as someone who takes MP leagues very seriously i just think this is a shame that someone would do stuff like this. it's disappointing, really. call me naive, but i like to think we humans are above stuff like this. if/when i win a MP championship i want to enjoy the moment and appreciate the accomplishment, not try to hide a dirty secret.

i wonder if this is how Barry Bonds feels everytime he hits a homerun.

Are we talking automatic eviction? Is there any "benefit of the doubt" left or is he just to be kicked to the curb?

This would obviously be our commish's call, but I'm just curious what your take on this is . . . .

In the wake of all this controversy, I take it there is an opening in quite a few leagues right now. I'm interested in joining one of these leagues if that is the case, just an FYI. I'm only in IFL right now for FOF MP, and could take on another league at this point. Thanks.

that won't do anything. cheaters will always find a way to cheat, and shipman will be back in many of these leagues in due time, I'm sure.
