This date in the history of your post #
1447 A.D.
Ulugh Beg succeeded to the throne of the province of Transoxiana in 1447 upon the death of his father. Murad II of the Ottoman Turks is defeated by Scanderbeg, assuring independence for Afghanistan, India and Persia. The death of Filippo Maria Visconti (1392–1447) ends more than two centuries of Visconti rule in Milan. A republic (the so-called Ambrosian Republic) is established at his death, but by 1450, Filippo's son-in-law, Francesco Sforza (1401–1466), is named duke of Milan. The city flourishes under the patronage of the Sforza family, who remain in power, with interruptions, until 1535, after which possession of the duchy is contested by Spain and France. Casimir IV of Poland unites Polish kingdom with Grand Duchy of Lithuania |

I need to go back to school because I could have sworn that 12 x 12 did not equal 1440....
EDIT: 2165 BC, some astronomers have dated May 7, 2165 BC as the first recorded solar eclipse by the Chinese. Last edited by sabotai : 02-06-2003 at 01:50 PM. |

2066:
The Microsoft Party gets elected to a congressional majority. The New York Yankees' payroll is $500 million a year. The NFL outlaws "hitting" by defensive players. Anyone scoring a touchdown is not allowed to move their arms or legs other than "to be in a position to make a walking move." Thanks to age-defying science, Fox Sports' John Gruden is dubbed the "Madden of his era," and instead of witty sounds and anecdotes, makes particular faces on the stadium big screen to emphasize points. Madden version: "He hits the hole and then, BOOM! Singletary hits him. WHAP!" Gruden version: Running play...*scrinches face*...there's the tackle...*furrows brow*" The NHL has 8 teams, with one in Canada (the Montreal/Toronto Maple Habs). All of them make the playoffs. In the U.N., France blocks any attempt by the U.S. to attack Newark, New Jersey, stating that "continued boycotts of sanitary services and economic sanctions will serve in the end." They also surrender to anyone that is willing to accept it. George Herbert Walker Pomegranate Wildibeast Henry Bush VIII is elected president. My grandson loses the election to him because of chad votes in the state of Iraq. Damn them all!
