I remember watching him live for the first time when he was at SDSU and playing against USC in the Coliseum and he had a terrific game. Always liked him, even if he was a dangerous foe. Too bad his career ends this way.

InjurieS?

Guy was rarely injured except at the end and a game or two here and there. Certain Hall of Famer.

Am I lost then? I thought he was injured recently (after one of his dominating seasons), and never got back to his old self. Which is why the Rams drafted Jackson?

I guess but he only missed 2 games in the last two years. With the amount of touches the guy had it's normal wear and tear.

One of my favorites. He's no Barry Sanders.

As impressed as I was with his entire career, I was even more impressed with the way he handled things when Jackson was drafted. He took him under his wing for a year and then moved aside when Jackson was ready to carry the load.

I assume by "here or there" you mean the 5 straight seasons he missed at least 2 games? He started 16 games in a season for the Rams exactly once - his first in Stl.

he's about 50/50 in games played, about 2,000 more total yards as a Colt...and a very shiny ring as a Ram. I say the ring trumps.

Definitely as a Ram, The ring weighs more in the balance than his years in Indy.

But HOF? Hmm. I don't know. Good player, but, man HOF could be a close vote, I hope not, but you never know anymore.

Wow, I think he's in, and I don't think it should be a close call. He was incredibly productive, and arguably the best player at his position for a considerable period of time.

I'd be surprised if Marshall didn't have at least 95% of the vote.

Faulk retires 9th on the all-time rushing list. Of the Top 15, only one guy is eligible and not in - Thurman Thomas, and he was a top 10 finalist this year in his first year of eligibility so you have a pretty good idea he'll be in there by the time it comes to vote for Faulk. and that's before you start to include all the receiptions.

he's automatic.

Does the football HOF even designate a specific "team" for an inductee?

If Faulk isn't a first-ballot HOFer, then there is no such thing. He was an NFL MVP, and Kurt Warner has at least one more that should have been his.

The Rams going from a mediocre team to a powerhouse pretty much coincides with his arrival in St. Loius.

I don't know, but if they can make Thurman Thomas wait all those years, then Marshall could suffer the same fate. 95% ? I might take that bet. (for the first ballot anyway)

I would love seeing him get it, but the powers that be sometimes don't always vote the way the fans see him. I still think the first ballot might be closer than everyone thinks. Not dissing the "legend" here folks, just that he was a very good player, and I am still unsure if he makes it first ballot.

Rams fans love him. Colts fans loved him while he was there, a bit whiny at the end when it was obvious they were taking Edgerrin James in 1999, but it retrospect, I would have kept Faulk in that arsenal, but, that is just me. St Louie's gain gets them their first HOF'er in the future at least.

But you have to say that there was more to the Rams than just Faulk right?

I mean come on, he didn't block for himself, or stop the other team's offense, or run the plays? It started 2 years previous when they hired Vermiel as head coach and head of Football Operations. I saw Faulk as the perfect puzzle piece to the Rams, and that is what made them a superior team, not just Marshall's all around abilities as a halfback. They were hitting on ALL cylinders for this team for that season, and nothing was going to stop the Rams from winning that Super Bowl. How else can you explain losing your starting QB and getting a All Star performance out of a NFL Europe player? (40 touchdowns- that is still a lot of TD's!)

Marshall had one MVP season, right? Perennial Pro Bowler. But I still think HOF might be a second or third ballot for him. I hope it's not, but, Thomas deserves it equally as well, and see where that got him.

All I have to add is if Lynn Swan can make the hall of fame, and Faulk doesn't, the Hall of Fame is worthless.

Faulk not only was a RB, but he was a receiver as well, and thats where he will get into the hall, with his receiving and rushing yards. If the Rams didn't have Faulk, the Rams wouldn't have made the visits to the Bowl or won one...
