(take two) SDSU VC 2007-08

Due to an unfortunate accident involving a power outage while saving, the save game is kaput. I even tried the autosave but that wouldn't load properly.

Fortunately, I have the save game as of the end of last year, and if it's alright, I'll start fresh.

this really stinks.. I was on a five game winning streak after a bumpy start before everything went blooey, but *shrug* nothing you can do.

Game 1: Eastern Illinois 74 @ SDSU 72 (OT) Gostin had 20, but Darnit.. why can't we win the close ones (except in the tourney ).. we had several chances to win.

Game 2: At #13 Stanford 73, SDSU 54 We hold tight for 30 minutes, but fall asleep at the wheel and get torched in the final 10. Gostin again leads with only 13 points

Game 3: @ SDSU 65, VA Commonwealth 49: We finally play as well as we can, and pretty much stifle VA-C's offense. Balanced scoring was the name of the game, as Greene had 15, Porter and Silva 14, and Qualls 13.

We end November 1-2, but the talent is there.

December:

Game 4: @ SDSU 74, Arkansas LR 63 Walls is starting to wake up, he had 20, and Gostin added 16 and Qualls 15. We didn't take too many 3's (14 in all), but we made 8 of em, and this game really wasn't in doubt too long.

Game 5: UCSB 76, SDSU 70. We take on U Cal Santa Barbara, yes the same team we beat last year to make it to the sweet 16.. but this time they're more Gaucho then Macho, and they ride 31 free throws to the win. Quallis did his best with 26. Gostin gets injured in this one, but it's only a poke in the eye, so he's day to day with blurred vision. We drop to 2-3.

I hate playing smart teams. They play smart bball.. and you can't steal their signals. I think they called one of their standarded plays using the Pythagorem theorum. On Defense, they didn't yell "Switch", they Quote Plato!

And..

Game 6: @ Princeton 71, SDSU 58

They always beat us.

And this leads to point two.. Injuries are absolutely killing us. We get Gostin back.. BUT we lose Porter to a broken arm (1-2 months), Sophmore backup PG Williams to a sprained ankle, AND Bobby Walls to a Dislocated Right knee (a month). Combine this with the fact Maynard Allen is redshirting... folks.. we have *9* players under uniform right now.

My friends, this is going to be a VERY long month.

Game 7: Wisconsin Green-Bay 85, @ SDSU 63. Outplayed the entire way, especially at the end when we just run out of energy. :/

Game 8: Lafayette 88, @SDSU 81. 2-6. I do have excuses, but I don't know if I just suck as a coach. We have gone from the penthouse to the outhouse quickly.

We sign the following player:

C Damon Brown *** (6'11", 208) Off Good, Def Avg, Hand Avg, Rebound Good, Athletic Avg, Pot: Good

Game 9: SDSU 68 @ Montana St 67. A last second hoop from Greene (17 points) gives us the win, to get us back to .333, at 3-6. While that's great if you play for the Aztec Baseball team, we need to continue improving.

One bit of good news, we sign our first nationally ranked player.

PF: Kerry Washington ****, 6'8", 239 (#22 PF, #25 South, #76 nation), Offense Good, Defense Avg, Handling Good, Rebounding excellent, Athletic: Good, Potential Excellent.

Game 10: What goes around, comes around. Eastern Kentucky squeaks by us, 64-63. Greene did his best with 21 points and 8 rebounds..

Game 11: We get crushed by Hampton, 74-56. We're running out of non conference games here.. (3-8)

In Fact, we're out. Time to defend our crown.

We finished 4-10, 8-20.. Let's get this farce over with, vs #1 Utah (we're the 8 seed despite tying with Air Farce.. I mean Force)

Want to know the final?

Utah 98, SDSU 40.

To quote a famous song, we gotta get out of this place.

8-21 is the final

We had enough injuries to kill a horse, but we quit on ourselves.

BYU beats Utah to make it to the tournament.

ACT: Wyoming makes it, and actually wins a game, beating Washington 72-69, and even beats UCLA, 80-65. When they beat Vandy 63-59, I'm starting to build a powerful dislike for then.. dang stupid ACT mickey mouse tournament, To make things even MORE annoying, they beat Ohio State 69-68 to make it to the championship game, where they end up being #66 as Maryland beat them 86-82. #66? add another six and that's how I feel about them!

NCT: We get two teams into the tourney, and Utah, a 9 seed, beats 8 seed Tennessee 69-62, but top seed and top ranked BC kills them 71-51.

BYU, an 11 seed, falls to 6 seed and 21st ranked North Carolina in the first round

The final four is Michigan, Arkansas, Purdue and Notre Dame. Monday Night pits Purdue against Arkansas, the Wolverines taking it. The file is ready for Marm when ever he shows up.
