Chat

It's prolly been raised before...but why don't we have a chat room linked to FOFC?

Now that I've cracked and made that admission, I wonder if I'm only a couple of steps away from wanting to tongue-kiss Jaromir Jagr and give Bobby Clarke a blowjob.

My non-participating ass would participate in a chat much more frequently than I do here. So 12 messages every 3 years instead of 6. Hook it up!

I mean please.

Well the point might be :

would a chat room be complementary to the forum...or would it make is useless ?
I think it could be a nice addition with a chat room opened, let's say one evening session per week.

This comes up every so often in the forum and always gets voted down. I think the main argument against a chat is that people prefer all the material on this forum is archived, although if it were only once a week someone could keep the chat transcript.

Threads could also be started pertaining to the important subjects that get discussed in a weekly chat session. This would help to get the good stuff archived and still keep the forum fresh.

The FOBL has a 'lounge' where people chat during the day all the time, and their forums are just fine. I think the same would work for us. Just have an AIM chat always open for FOFC'ers to come and chat in.

I'm certain it wouldn't dramatically change the quality of the forum at all.

IMHO a chatroom will damage the forum. (as it did with the FOBL, dispite what RPI-Says)

Exactly. Also, what Fritz said about FOBL just might be true. The forums are still good, but not quite as active as they used to be.

FWIW I've talked to Subby lots of times in chat and he's utterly charming in his own special way .

Well...

Well, the addition of the lounge coincided with my departure. I always figured the decline of the forums was due to the fact that my enormous popularity was no longer present.
