"I'm Hank Williams, Jr., B____!"
I'm Hank Williams Jr., Bitch"
Country singer charged with assaulting Memphis hotel waitress APRIL 4--Country singer Hank Williams Jr. today surrendered to cops on a warrant charging him with throttling a hotel waitress last month in Memphis. Williams, 56, is facing an assault rap for allegedly choking Holly Hornbeak during a March 18 confrontation in the Peabody Hotel lobby bar. According to a complaint affidavit, Hornbeak, 19, told cops that Williams (full name: Randall Hank Williams Jr.) verbally abused her and made other inappropriate comments during the bizarre incident. The tirade apparently began after a Williams crony asked Hornbeak if she knew who Williams was. When she said no, Hornbeak recalled, the singer replied, "I'm Hank Williams Jr., bitch." After Williams unsuccessfully tried to kiss her, the report states, he "grabbed her by the neck from behind, choking her." The performer turned himself in this morning to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and was booked for assault to commit bodily harm. He was released without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance tomorrow afternoon. Williams, pictured below in a mug shot snapped today, is the son of legendary singer Hank Williams and is best known for singing the "Monday Night Football" theme "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight." (2 pages) E-mail story to a friend.

What kind of a name is Holly Hornbeak? Sounds like a Hanna Barbera character.
(and wow - Hank actually has eyes!)

I think I've found a flaw in your analogy: one statement is true and the other is false. It's kind of subtle but, I think, worth noting.

I guess I didn't realize the collective stupidity and inability of our society to know anything that happened more than 5 minutes ago. You may be right though, I am guessing an article about Ozzy Osburne will say how he is best known for his reality TV show. It's kind of sad actually. And I am anything but a country music fan but I think that Hank Williams Junior's career emcomposses a little more than "Are you ready for some football!" |

Me either. Actually, I'm pretty sure that the MNF theme is the only Hank Williams Junior music I've ever heard. |

I know the names of more Hank Williams Sr. songs than Hank Williams Jr. songs off the top of my head. I guess that'd make sense if I was 100 years old, but I'm not. Anyway, I know that Hank Williams Jr. has had a long country music career, but he's much more recognizable now because of Monday Night Football.
Besides, without MNF, would he even bother busting out the "I'm Hank Williams Jr., bitch" line?

I'm a casual country music fan, and "Are you ready for some football" is the only Hank Jr. song I can name!

I don't give a shit about Hank Williams Jr., but just because someone (in the "spotlight") fucks up one time, doesn't mean that the person is a complete moronic loss. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, since people have fuck-ups from time to time.

Well, you certainly need to keep the regions in which we live in mind. Hank Jr. doesn't get much airplay here in the NYC metro area. And FWIW, the songs you listed only confirmed that I've never heard another song by the man. |

If you EVER get within 100 ft. of a country bar in the south, you will hear "Family Tradition"... ... it's a "duet" with Hank Jr. and Hank Sr. ... (basically Jr. singing with an old recording by Hank Sr.)... and it has some wonderful redneck "response" lines as only a few very "special" songs do...

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a little more to this story than just what was reported in this woman's complaint. It's not uncommon for people to exaggerate or just outright lie about run-ins with celebs.
I'm not a country music fan, but I could probably name at least half a dozen songs by Hank Williams Jr. (although I'd probably name 2 or 3 by other singers in the process). |

I had a good friend in New York City He never called me by name, just "Hillbilly." He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights And I'd send him some homemade wine My granddaddy taught me to live off the land And his taught him to be a businessman But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife For 43 dollars my friend lost his life Well, I'd love to spit some Beech Nut in that dude's eye And shoot him with my old .45, 'cause a country boy can survive You can't starve us out and you can't make us run Cause we're them old boys raised on shotguns We say grace and we say "ma'am," and if you ain't into that We don't give a damn..........bitch IN all seriousness, if Hank Jr. got airplay in Columbus, I'm not aware of it. If he did, of course, it would have been on the country stations, where I didn't listen. I became aware of those two songs in high school, due to the white guys in the various athletic programs. The Walkman didn't really come into play big-time until my early college days. Throughout high school, when we went to an away game, an important part of the travel plans was determining who would bring the box. When different guys are bringing the box to each game (esp. basketball, where we played like 15 out of town games a year), you hear a whole lot of different music.

I'm not a country fan at all. I'd say I know about 5 different Wlliams Jr. songs. One that I really hated was, "If the south would have won we'd have it made". Someone should look up the lyrics for that one. I know some of them, but I dont have thte time.

Hank Williams Jr. Lyrics
If The South Woulda Won Lyrics If the south woulda won we woulda had it made. I'd probably run for president of the southern states. The day Elvis passed away would be our national holiday. If the south woulda won we woulda had it made. I'd make my surpreme court down in Texas and we wouldn't have no killers getting off free. If they were proven guilty then they would swing quickly, instead of writin' books and smilin' on T.V. We'd all learn cajan cookin' in Luiousiana and I'd put that capital back in Alabama. We'd put Florida on the right track, 'cause we'd take Miami back and throw all them pushers in the slammer. Oh if the south woulda won we woulda had it made. I'd probably run for president of the southern states. The day young Skynyrd died, we'd show our southern pride. If the south woulda won we woulda had it made. "Play alittle dixieland boys. Ah yes!" I'd have all the whiskey made in Tennessee and all the horses raised in those Kentucky hills. The national treasury would be in Tupilo, Mississippi and I'd put Hank Williams picture on one hundred dollar bill. I'd have all the cars made in the Carolina's and I'd ban all the ones made in China. I'd have every girl child sent to Georgia to learn to smile and talk with that southern accent that drives men wild. I'd have all the fiddles made in Virginia, 'cause they sure can make 'em sound so fine. I'm going up on Wolverton Mountain and see ole Cliften Clowers and have a sip of his good ole Arkansas wine. Hey if the south woulda won we'd a had it made. I'd probably run for president of the southern states. When Patsy Cline passed away that would be our national holiday. If the south woulda won we'd a had it made. Olay he hee hee . I said if the south wouda won we would a had it made! Might even be better off! |

Heh, have you ever heard of Hank III? I remember when I was at UTEP he was supposed to have a concert in the 12,000 seat basketball arena. Problem was they only sold about 50 tickets, so they had to cancel the sucker. From what I remember, that wasn't an isolated case for young Hank.

This reminds me of the time Scott Stapp of Creed got pissed they couldn't seat him for over an hour at the Ruth's Chris in the hotel I worked at.. Scott tried to pull the "Don't you know who I am".. The lady working the desk asked if he was a baseball player (she was thinking Johnny D. or a Braves player but couldn't remember his name).. Needless to say Scott ending up leaving with his party when told they would have to wait like everyone else..
