Neither Brees or Cullpeper would allow teams to perform any types of physicals?
I was floored when I heard on around the horn today, that both Cullpeper and Brees were not allowing teams to perform any types of physicals on them. How can any Owner in good conscious even think about signing these 2 players with huge injury risks without making them undergo a physical first?
From a business perspective this would constitute negligence. How can you sing these players to long term contracts without first inspecting the product? I wonder if the owners could go around the players backs and share medical records with each other? For Cullpeper: Don't most trades come with a clause stating that the player must pass a physical in order for the trade to go through? :wtf: Last edited by IwasHere : 03-14-2006 at 04:43 PM. |

Yup. Teams can voluntairly waive the clause though. Pretty stupid either way IMO. |

In a similar move, I've decided the Navy can no longer perform physicals on me.

And on a related note, I've decided that Scarlett Johansson is required to perform more physicals on me. |

And he was traded for, not signed, which is a big difference. |

I guess that lady on around the horn didn't know what the hell she was talking about. Although, I guess her point that neither Brees nor Cullpeper would submit to any type of physicals Before they concluded the deal is still technically accurate. |

Actually I believe it was the Vikings not allowing any teams to perform any kind of a physical on Culpepper before reaching an agreement on a trade. |

I mentioned this in another thread, but this deal is still a little shaky. This is a serious injury and I am curious to how this turns out.
From Pro Football Talk: FINS DON'T SAY MUCH ON DAUNTE The Miami Dolphins have issued a one-sentence statement regarding the reported trade of Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the Fins for a second-round pick. "In response to reports that the Minnesota Vikings have confirmed a trade of quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the Dolphins, team spokesman Harvey Greene said 'anything we do is contingent upon a player passing a medical exam.'"

Which is pointless, because NFL trades require physicals on traded players, with either team recieving a player having the right to rescind a trade if the players don't pass said physical.

Does the Scarlett Johansen physical involve the finger-wag? If so, I'll pass.
