TEST: Title Changed By SkyDog

Is it possible to edit the actual title of your thread (that you started)? So far, I have only been able to edit the little titiel taht appears at the top of the first post... but it does not alter the visible title that people see on the list of threads in the forum (which is really what matters, I'd think).

Am I missing something (quite possible)?

edit: testing whether this works... adding to my title above...

I asked the same thing yesterday:

Changing the title of a thread?

No word yet, but SkyDog is aware of it.

I've looked at this in the control panel. There's not an option to change this that I can find. Anyone who uses other vBulletin message boards, how does this work?

Dola---just went over to 400 Studios and tried to change a thread title. Same thing happened as we see here.

Of course, I can live with it either way... just curious if it was easily fix-able.

Hmm, it's just weird that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, even for the SAME thread, as Wrigleyfield demonstrated.

Actually, over at .400, I tried deleting a thread and couldn't do it, which I thought was odd.

Well, the default was that you could change a thread title within 24 hours of posting it, but it only changes in one place, not in the forum listing. We've reset that to let you change the title at any time, but it still only changes the small title.

SkyDog,

The moderator/administrator can edit thread titles, with the Edit Thread Function. If there isn't an option in the control panel to do this for the users already (haven't dug around too much in it), I'd have to guess that there is probably a hack to allow users to do it.

Edit - BTW I see my group has changed..

Do you mean from the control panel, or the main board? I'm pretty sure I've edited a thread title myself and gotten the same results, but I'll check.

Yup....just edited Quik's first post in this thread. It just changed at the top, not the forum view. Going back to the control panel...

I was referring to the main board, I really haven't messed with the control panels too much, so I don't know a lot of functionality that is there.

At the FOBL forum I get the same effect when I try to edit my own thread titles, but simms (or any other moderator) has always been able to change it easily. I don't know how they do it though.

I think it would really suck If we only have a 24 hour window for editing the thread title (as it appears in the forum).
