OT: Whither DeShaun Foster?

The last thing I recall hearing about him, he was undergoing some oddball surgery by Dr. James Andrews (never good news when he's involved) and his future prospects were very much in the air.

Has anyone heard anything more recent?

just that the Panthers are considering drafting a back and that it's very much in doubt whether he'll ever play again.

Really, that's crazy. I thought he was going to be Clinton Portis, if you know what I mean. Man, what type of injury is it? I can't seem to recall.

It's Ok, Dr. Van Nostrum performed the operation.

Well, if there is any silver lining in this story, it's that Carolina might not have to worry about Foster's problem of the dropsies. I remember his fumbling problem being an issue that dropped his draft stock. It's hard to do on a regular basis, if you never make it onto the football field.

Actually that fumble problem was a fable.

Foster had four fumbles in one game his senior year, just a phenomenally horrible game for him. The rest of his entire career he was never known to drop the ball too much.

When you get put under the microscope by the scouts at draft time, a lot of things get tossed out there and magnified that simply aren't that big a deal.

As for the injury, I had heard he was doing fine and will be ready for training camp. Can anyone provide links as to otherwise? As a UCLA fan, I would love to know what his status is.

Well, if he recovers that's good. I had actually drafted him in my Fantasy Football league in the late rounds as a darkhorse, in case he came back during the season, and blew up ala Clinton Portis. I guess your right about the scouts nit-picking players to death. Being on the east coast I didn't get a large games/news articles to gauge him myself, so I pretty much had to rely on the draft reports and such.
