PLUG ALERT! PLUG ALERT!

Well, I'm involved in two games where you can be a Congressman/Senator/etc. and play and scheme against other people.

http://www.americangovernmentsimulation.com
http://worldsimulations.com/USG/

In both "games" you start out as a Congressman, but can work yourself up to be President if things work out your way.

Go to Game Information - it'll give you the basics. (It should be the first forum).
Then go to the Login Area - look over what Districts are available, sign in as a Dem or Rep for whatever Congressional District you want to, then post in the Login thread what district you just took, etc. and you'll get access to the RNC or DNC War Room. It's simpler than it sounds - really.

I used to belong to a simulation that dealt with politics in the United Kingdom. Ever since my election into real time politics in November I haven't went back. I never did get into those American sims, but I did check out there games and was able to search my name and found things on me. Interesting....

why, think of the possibilities.

Theocracy, pretend theocracy, dictatorship, pretend democracy, oligarchy, monarchy. You could have countries try and liberate your people. You can either hog the wealth or give it to the people (sorry, I had to include a joke). You can have people killed, all the while wondering if they'll kill you. Start holy wars, oil wars, wars about women who wear less than a quilt over their body. The possibilities are near endless.

Try this game out:

Democracy

Doesn't have the infghting so much, but it lets you set public policy and see how it affects the electorate. Theres a demo, too.

Not really West Wing like, but one of my favorite political simulations as a teenager was Balance of Power. Me and my buddy would play it for hours on end. I can still remember not talking to him for a week because he wouldn't back down from a nuclear war.

I've tried playing that and I find in like turn 3 the computer kicks my ass. Do you remember any strategy here?

I remember I always got my ass kicked by the computer. If I sent like $50 to Peru for financial aid the Soviet computer team would be ready to go to a nuclear war over it. Then after I backed down at def-con 2 every country in the world except for maybe England and Canada would be allied with the Russians. Much better two player game than solo. I actually have my old Amiga sitting right here next to my PC, I may fire up Balance of Power just to see if it is any different with 15 more years of knowledge. Highly doubtful.

On a side note, I actually find the AI's in most games quite challenging. I have never had any major success in TCY or FOF while people on this board have to implement all of these house rules. I know I am going to be a sitting duck when the BBCF multi-player league starts.

I played Conflict when it came out. It earned a place as one of the best value games that I ever bought.

I also played Crisis in the Kremlin

http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.ph...in+The+Kremlin

it was centered around the revolution in the Soviet Union. A good challenge, a good game for its time.

I bought Cyber Judas but for some reason it always crashed, and I never really got into it.

I could never get into Shadow President, but I still am interested in the Genre.
