I've Joined the Ranks of the Cortisone-Injected!

I went to see my acupuncturist this morning after screwing up my back cuz of that damn bell and pole I've mentioned elsewhere.

An hour and a half (of what was supposed to be an hour session later), I was fine when stable, but the instant I moved, a debilitating spasm would shoot through my lower back.

I still considered this a major improvement over before, when my back would suddenly lock up and spasm without warning even when stable, like it did a few times during the session.

"This is pretty severe, Tim. I think you need an injection." my acpuncturist finally said.

$110 bucks later (I have no insurance) I got a cortisone shot. It didn't hurt, surprisingly enough, and I still haven't felt any miracle effects, but the doctor who injected me said I might not see results until tomorrow.

So I've got a free pass from work tomorrow and the feeling of having joined the sports elite in this small way.

I just hope this cortisone works.

I hope it works, too. I've had a few cortisone injections in my life, though you have to be careful with them, too. IIRC, you shouldn't get mor than 2 per year or something like that, and be careful on who does it...I had an orthopod (!) give me a cortisone injection in my ankle. He did it "properly," but due in part to me having shallow nerves, the injection went into the nerve which caused excruciating pain and a lot of swelling. Never had one since, but now I'm really careful about who will do it...

I've had two on my shoulder since the injury.

Trust me, right away, it feels alright.

But later today you will be a hurting puppy.

After my first one, I went back to work.

three hours later, I needed someone to drive me home.
