Torn to be honest. I'll eventually probably end up with both. Considering there will likely be another God of War and GTA exclusive for the PS3, I'll probably end up with that first. (GTA does come out on other systems, just a year later) |

Actually, I'll probably stay with Sony and get a PS3. Wasn't this asked already, or did I dream it? Or is Izulde's potential girlfriend, Dreams, making me think that I did?

I'll probably eventually get both, but only Xbox 360 will be a launch acquisition for me.

When did I post that? Must have been awhile back.. since then I've been doing some research and I like what the ps3 has inside technology wise. The truth of the matter is I'm like a 14 year old when it comes to gaming of any kind, especially sports gaming.. so I'm sure I'll get the Xbox 360 on launch or shortly thereafter due to the fact it's coming out months earlier than the ps3. I can always trade it in right? |

Neither. Too pricey, and I just haven't been overwhelmed by the systems in the early shots.

Man, is it just me or is jbmagic really grilling us with these video game questions? First the Madden thing and now this. I'm starting to feel the heat. |

Probably neither at first. I want to see them both in action. I enjoy both my PS2 and Xbox but can't see myself getting both new consoles so I don't want to rush into it.

Probably PS3. I have an Xbox, and since I'm going to buy Madden 2006 for it, and not turn around and buy an Xbox 360 and Madden 2006 for that, I'll just go with the PS3.

Undecided at present, both are good value for money (considering the technology in the consoles) and pretty funky bits of kit .... however its the games which will persuade me which one to get, chances are it'll be Nintendo Revolution .... purely because of the games*.
*So long as I don't need another DVD player at home - my daughter has an Xbox, hardly plays any games on it (prefers playing PC games) but loves having a DVD player in her room ... thats how Sony won the last console war imho, more people bought a PS-2 as a DVD player and then got some games for it than the other way around ... none of the console have that 'feature' like a DVD player which will compel your average 'Joe' to purchase one quickly imho** ... **Disclaimer - If I was either Sony or Microsoft I'd integrate a Sky+/Tivo type package into the consoles and sell it on the strength of that, few people (mass-marketwise) will pay for Xbox Live on its own, tie it in with that type of byndle and everyone would get it ... if done that will effectively win the console war for the company which does it imho ... I'm with others. $200 is about my price limit - $250 max. if they really have some hot titles out that I can't play on my current xbox. New graphics are cool, but I'm at the point where I'll take gameplay over graphics any day.
Leaning towards the xbox though, just b/c I'm more familiar with it having played it exclusively the past 3-4 years. |

If they do it as a standard with a console then it'll work - if its add-on software you purchase afterwards it won't imho ... for instance there are at least 2 such software items available for a PC currently which work very well ... however I know nobody who's using them ... If its part of the console itself in a users eyes (like the DVD player on the PS-2) then it'll be a good arguement for families purchasing the console, if its an add-on then it'll be viewed as complicated and an extra expense on top of an already expensive item (ala Xbox DVD playing initially). (just my tuppence worth, I'm probably wrong ... ) |

I won't get either, and just upgrade my PC. I haven't played any video games other than World of Warcraft since February, and I would like to eventually participate in online sports leagues again (time permitting)...
However, I read that XBox360 has an exclusive Marvel deal, while PS3 has the same with DC. Since I like Marvel a lot more, if any games came out like X-Men Legends (which I love playing at a friend's house), XBox360 would be my choice. |

I'm still holding out for the Sony Trout in my Rectum. They promised it by Q4 2006.

I'm pretty sure I'll pick up a 360 at launch, mainly because of Live and the fact that it'll be the first one out of the gate and I'm in the industry (it's kind of expected that we'll have next-gen systems when they come out). I've read an article that claims the performance differences in CPU's of the 360 and PS3 are negated by a superior architecture in the 360 with the end result that the hardware should be about even in performance. This was from an interview with one of the honchos that designed the 360 though, so there's the obvious incentive for him to view things in a highly biased way. I don't think our developers are far enough along in our next-gen games to really have a good grasp of which system provides superior performance, so I haven't gotten a good 1st hand perspective from a more neutral source. Both of them should kick major ass though.
I'm not sure at this point if I'll end up with a PS3 or not; the delay in GTA releases isn't that bad (San Andreas was not a year between the PS2 and the Xbox) and I'm not convinced Rockstar will continue to delay their Xbox releases on the next-gen platforms. So far I haven't found any must-have games on Sony's platform, and the vast majority of games are on both, plus I'm completely hooked on the Halo series. I'm not ruling out getting a PS3 at some point, but it's not an automatic purchase for me like the Xbox 360 will be. |

In GTA:San Andreas, when you date your girlfriends you can get an offer for "coffee". The game will then show the outside of the house bouncing up and down while hearing her moan.
The 'Hot Coffee' mod makes the 'coffee' a mini-game where the goal is to please her. The author of the mod says the code was shipped in the game and just had to be activated. Rockstar claims that it is all part of the author of the mod. Hillary Clinton has asked the FCC to look into the matter. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07...s_6129040.html Another article. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07...s_6129209.html I know it has also been mentioned in the NY Times at least twice this week. |

Interesting. Even if it turns out Rockstar built the mod and it was just unlockable, I don't think they'll get any kind of legal punishment. This is primarily about getting accurate ratings on the packaging and having some teeth to enforcing it. Rockstar is just getting more publicity for free out of the whole deal, so I'm sure they're laughing all the way to the bank.
Now, I do think there should be some pressure on Rockstar (and all game publishers) to provide accurate rating information. All games are required to submit samples of their game content to the ESRB so they can determine a rating; I'm not sure how that arrangement works in terms of enforcement and penalties, but I'm sure the ESRB will be pissed at Rockstar if it turns out they did create the mini-game content themselves since they obviously didn't inform the ESRB of it. In any case, I don't think Rockstar is in any immediate danger of going out of business. |

I think it could hurt from a content standpoint for the next GTA.
Rockstar had been in trouble before with the Vice City, "Kill all the Haitians" line. Which ended up with them rereleasing the game without "Kill all the Haitians". |

I don't think this mod will result in anything. Doesn't God of War have an explicit minigame of the same type? But you fuck 2 women, and get health at the end. And they show the bed bouncing. :P |

From my understanding of the God of War minigame is that you just see the bed bouncing. The GTA mod makes it so you can see the characters nude as they get it on. |

That all depends on whether retailers start getting more stringent about what game ratings they're willing to stock. Obviously the "M" rating isn't hurting their sales any, and presuming they don't put out any explicit sex content in future games they should continue to qualify for an "M" rating. Now, if major retailers decided, based on this kind of controversy, that they would draw a moral line in the sand and refuse to stock "M" games, they might have some problems. It would be an interesting battle to watch - who would blink first, Rockstar Games or major retailers? I'd bet on the retailers...money talks, and the GTA line is like printing money right now. |

I'm on the fence on this one... it depends on the PS3 exclusives, though at the moment, I'm listing slightly more towards the XBox 360, though I likely won't get either one at launch.
Though knowing me, I'll probably end up with all three next-gen systems at some point, just like now.

Sony officials are quoted as saying that there's a good chance that one of the cell proccesor chips could be defective. Right now the PS3 is coming with 8 processing chips, however will only utilize 7 (Extra 1 is for backup). Even so, it raises my suspicions on their quality control. |
