Great FOF Poem!!

This is obviously centered around my multi-player experience in the IHOF (International House of Football) but there aren't too many overt IHOF references and I thought I would share. Forgive the shameless promotion, but I'm a little proud of it.

'Twas a week off in IHOF and all through the league,
Not an owner was posting, not even the Plague.
The gameplans were snet, uploaded with care.
In hopes that the commish soon would be there.

The players were nestled in their digital beds,
while visions of touchdowns danced in their heads.
And Coach in his visor, and I in my cap,
Had racked our brains for the opening snap.

When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away down the concourse I flew like a flash
almost as fast as a Strawn 40 yard dash.

The dew on each blade of freshly mowed grass,
Gave a golden reflection like new polished brass.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but 53 warriors clad in the best football gear.

With a spring in their step and a grin on their faces,
they buckled their chinstraps and pulled tight their laces.
They huddled around the leagues best signal caller,
and each star by name did that general holler.

Block, Maple! Block, Church! Block Grimaldo and Yuan!
Run Kemp! Run Flowers! Catch Forrest and Adrian!
To the back of the endzone! Put points on the board!
Now go for two! Go for two! Go for two more!

From the sidelines the coaches directed each man,
with an orchestral dance of their arms and their hands.
They signaled in plays that they knew had a chance,
to end with a touchdown and a wild endzone dance.

I watched as our quarterback walked to the line,
With the ball in his hands I knew we'd be fine.
He surveyed the defense and found a weak link,
Our flanker could pass their DB in a blink.

Hunched under center a new play he did shout.
A flanker fly pattern and a split end quick out.
The players adjusted to the quarterback's call.
As they came set the center hiked him the ball.

With the play set in motion the action unfurled.
The coach and I waited for the ball to be hurled.
For that we are still waiting to this very day,
as our hopes and our dreams were sacked on the play.

The defensive end was a brute of a man,
and he blew past our tackle as fast as one can.
Drool started dripping as the beast closed the gap,
The bone broke so hard that the blimp heard the snap.

On that quarterback's arm I had pinned all my hope.
Now that he's gone I'm at the end of my rope.
I'm sick to my stomach and think I might puke,
I fear I'll be demoted to head coach at Duke.

With a sudden excitement I scream out "Please, NO!!
I'll do anything you want if you don't make me go!"
When I opened my eyes my relief was extreme.
I was safe in my bed, it was all a bad dream.
