Ya'll better watch the Cubs game on 7/30

Why, you ask?

...guess who has dugout box seats in the front row for a Cubs game at the end of the month?

Buddy of mine bought a t-shirt with that on it, and it *mysteriously* got ruined in the wash while he was away fishing. He wasn't very happy with the missus about that one.

I got to sit in the "Commisioner's Box" at The Ballpark (or I guess they're calling Ameriquest these days) earlier in the year...it was a totally awesome experience. We were directly to the left of the Rangers dugout, could see right in. First row and everything, it was a great experience.

It's nice having a big bro who works for the local rag's sports dept and can get nice tickets for free from time to time.

I'm actually almost directly behind home plate. So theoretically, my ugly mug will be on TV the majority of the game.

As will the penguin.

Can you be the guy on the cell phone who waits for the person on the other end to tell him he's on tv so he can start waving like an idiot and force them to switch which camera they are showing?

I fervently believe in the death penalty for people like that. When I'm running the world, those people -- plus the people who hold up the line in a convenience store while they fill out the numbers for each of their many lottery tickets -- will suffer gruesome, horrible deaths.

Now you're just being rude.

I think this is going to be a great finish to the season actually. Astros are playing out the world, and the Cubs aren't doing too badly either. Consider that the Cubs will be getting Nomar and Williamson shortly along with the fact that the two play each other about a million more times.

It's going to be a fun ride however it turns out.

Man, the past two seasons have been crazy. Started off the year 15-30 and have gone 40-17 since...the best record in the majors over that period. Hopefully we can keep on hitting the ball cause I don't think our pitching is going anywhere. The starters have been phenomenal...

You're right...it should be a great finish. However, I'm hoping that when Nomar comes back it'll be the death knell for the Cubbies...the man is more trouble than he's worth.

The thing that scares me is the possibility of the Mets getting Soriano. That should really make the wildcard race interesting...

FoxSports.com is reporting that the Cubs have entered the picture for Soriano as well. Not sure where they're getting the information, though, as I read most of the Chicago papers and haven't heard that. Maybe I missed it.

Ahh, yeah I hadn't read Sun Times specifically today. Interesting article, though. Of all the bats out there, Soriano would be one of the best, although I'd say the Cubs need a lefty more than a righty probably. I would think if the Cubs did it, it would have to include Patterson.

Have y'all seen Soriano's home/road splits for this year? Not pretty...

Code:
SPLIT AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Home 205 39 66 17 1 18 48 10 1 33 6 2 .322 .353 .678 1.031 Away 192 30 46 10 0 7 20 8 2 46 8 0 .240 .276 .401 .677

Of coure, Wrigley is a hitters park, so he could still put up good numbers there. I guess I better hope he goes to the pitchers park that Shae is...

Well, I never saw you (although I admit I didn't really look too hard).

But that was a pretty nice game to be at I would guess - nice performance for Prior and a comeback win in the bottom of the 9th.

Edit: Ahh, just realized you'll be at tomorrow's game. I really need to pay more attention.

You would have seen me pretty much all game. I was first row right behind the advertising sign. We were pretty much on camera all game. Green t-shirt and sunglasses.

The confusing part woulda been no hawaian shirt. Top button tore off it in the laundry, so I woulda looked even MORE ridiculous in it.

Bad scouting report...I wasn't looking for a green shirt.
