OT - Quiznos Subs

So for the first time I ate at Quiznos today. Man, what a sandwich...had a Steakhouse Dip, and I think it's the best tasting sub I've had from any of the chain franchises, if not ever.

Hatehatehate their Baby Bob commercials--it's partly why I've stayed away--but I couldn't be more enthusiastic about their food (or at least this particular sandwich).

I also have a slight reservation as to the absence of an apostrophe in their company name, but I'll have to overlook it. Not really sure where the name comes from.

I hate their ads with the talking baby.

Subs are pretty good, though.

I preferred their SpongMonkeys ads. "We like the subs....they have a pepper bar."

Word. I thought all that died out in the late 90s. Although there is something perverse about using a character from a canceled sitcom as an ad voice.

I liked their "PEPPER BAR!!!" commercials much better, though they certainly could be categorized as perverse as well.

Great sandwiches (could never eat at Subway again), but they really need to think twice about the ad agency they use. First the puppet thing, which probably less than 10% of the public recognized, and then they bring out Bob the Baby again. Sriously, it wasn't funny five years ago when he sat on Shaq's lap, and it's still not funny.

Up here (or in Ontario at least), their ads feature Don Cherry and Tie Domi.

I might prefer talking babies.

Don't like Quiznos. Maybe it was the 2 I've ate at but, I was expecting toasted bread but, the bread I had was similar to day old dried bread... Wasn't warm and toasty just dry.

Quiznos is a made up word. The founder read something somewhere that said "Q" and "Z" were the most memorable letters of the alphabet, so he combined them in a fun, exciting, super-crazy new word.

Should we file "Quiznos" under super-crazy, or merely mildy-imbalanced?

I can echo this - had no desire to try Quiznos because of their horrible advertising. tried them for the first time while on vacation a few months ago and loved it and now I wish there was one locally.

I'd much rather have talking babies than dancing ones, or worse yet, talking animals (the gecko is fine, but not taking real animals and making it look like their mouths move. At least not without the aid of peanut butter.)

On taste I guess I'd rank them: (although I agree that potbelly's are way too small):

Jimmy Johns
Togo
Potbelly's
Quiznos

Quiznos rocks. Better than Subway, no doubt. The Steakhouse Dip is very yum indeed, but I like their Beef and Cheese as well.

Firehouse subs are really, really good too.
