Yankees/D-Rays

So I've had this game on for 5 minutes, and Travis Harper of the D-Rays has given up 9 runs and 4 HRs - 3 in a row - in one-third of an inning, during a 13-run 8th inning. This has to be one of the worst pitching performances in the history of baseball. The D-Rays actually lead 10-2 at one point, and 11-7 going into the 8th.

Inning just ended. Wow.

Well yeah, but when I typed it, he still hadn't gotten the third out.

I did the same, when I heard it was 10-2. And against Randy Johnson, no less. Then I turned it on really quickly during Reno 911 and saw it was 11-7, and I knew they were in trouble. Ten minutes later, I'm watching Harper serve up batting practice to the entire lineup.

I heard a theory that Lou left Harper in as a statement to management, like, "If this is the stuff you are going to give me, this is the stuff I am going to use".

That was one of the most exciting Gamecast innings I have ever seen.

It's Lou Piniella giving a gift to his future employer. They should put him in the Penalty Box for a couple of weeks.

Well, the silver lining is that the Yankees were one fluke inning away from being swept in 4 games by the D-Rays - at home! After this game, the Yanks talked about how this could be the turning point of the season, and then they lose the next 2 after dropping the first game. Haha!

Wait a minute, I thought they and the blowhard media were declaring Steroid Monkey's homer against the Pirates last week as "the turning point of the season." I wish everyone would settle on one turning point, but then they might run out of things to talk about.

As a matter of principle though, if one finds a win over the Pirates or Devil Rays to be a turning point for a team, that organization should fold.

True. Particularly that game against Pittsburgh, which they actually lost. The ump blew the double play call that would have ended the game.

Well, if this is their 2nd turning point, they're right on track.. They went from losing, turning to wining, now turning to losing.
