there is something wrong with me

I can't chew gum anymore because during say a half-hour of chewing gum I will bite my cheek 3-4 times and bit my tongue 5-6 times. It got so bad where my cheek is actually missing some of the inside of it and it hurts now whenever I bite. Then 10 minutes ago eating bread I bit down on my thumb so hard I drew blood. EATING BREAD. What the hell is wrong with me.

end rant

This happens to me every now and again, but not to the extent that you're suffering by the sound of it.

I have no dentristy knowledge to support this other than the fact I know my wisdom teeth are growing out of position, so my theory is that my wisdom teeth are pushing my other teeth slightly askew, which means my normal chewing has to be refined in order not to bite myself! (not sure how this explains the bread thing though)

Maybe this is the case for you as well? Or maybe my theory is pants!

It always happends to me too, even if it is no so frequent...I don't really know what is it, or what is the cause.
Maybe mouth doesn't close proprerly during chewing...but I'm not a dentist so this could be totally a bullshit.

If you bite your cheek or tongue once you're bound to bite it several more times since the bit flesh will swell up. You have to make a conscious effort to not bit that area again.

In regards to your thumb...no comment.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled over a year ago so that can't be it.

Have you tried walking while chewing gum?

I stopped chewing gum for the exact same reason. My jaw is fairly narrow but I don't know if that has to do with biting the inside cheeks.

Is it possible you have a dietary problem, causing you to swell in the mouth/cheek regions? Perhaps too much salt in your diet? From time to time i have had a similar problem, but it was mainly due to a specific food(which i cant remember right now).

Hmmm, I can't really recall eating a lot of food with salt in it, but I'll definatly (worst word for me to spell ever) have to check.

Try eating in front of a mirror and see what you are doing wrong, take copious notes and report back ASAP.

I have a problem with biting my lip/cheek sometimes too for some reason.. and then I'll bite it again shortly after, and it makes me scared of eating.
