Better she figure this out now rather than after they get married.

*shrug*

I feel so embarrassed I have to run to the internet

and post it. My sister is pulling off close to a runaway bride. She was supposed to get married in two weeks, invitations were out, plans were finalized, and last night we get a phone call that not only is the wedding off, they're not even going to be together anymore. We had made plans, booked hotel rooms, in another state, bought DVD players for the kids in the SUV etc.

The strangest part is that there wasn't really an 'incident' that triggered this. She says she feels as if she's 'settling' for the guy. WOW... And BTW, she's an attractive 26 yr old. (No smartass incest remarks on that one either).

Been there done that, you should be happy she figured it and had the balls to do it now instead of later.

That's not saying much since Reese has gone through many different weight classes in her movie career

I'm picturing Reese Witherspoon, except instead of holding a Chihuahua, she's holding a Shih Tzu. Just work with me here.

Yeah, but even better would have been if she had figured it out before.

I get this image of a little Adam Sandler icon saying "This could have been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!"

I've got a couple of friends that figured out the same thing shortly before they got married, but they believed they were too far along to stop things. They were also to embarrassed to cancel that far along. Sadly they didn't last very long. Fortunately, it was a prett civil divorce and they both just took back what they started with.

It's a difficult thing because you want to be supportive and sensitive, but at the same time you want to pull a Cher and say "snap out of it".

Easier said than done my friend. Its easy to date someone seriously, then you get to a point were you are thinking about spending the rest of your life with that person. If you have doubts that this is the right move its best to call it off instead of just going with the flow. Sometimes you just don't realize it until very late.

Its easy to sit back and watch and be critical of people in this situation, I was until I was in the situation.

A wedding being cancelled two weeks before it was scheduled is MUCH better than a divorce.

As for the Sandler thing, if she just didn't show up for the wedding I would be willing to slap her upside the head. Two weeks ahead of time is bad, but I could deal with it.

I think if you have a room booked already you should at least go ahead with the reception. Call it a 'break up party', and have everybody get really, really drunk, and see what happens.
