OT: Little things my S.O. does that drive me nuts

On my way home, I like to stop at the local batting cages and take a few swings. I keep tokens in my car. My girlfriend, who is wonderful in every way, sometimes takes the time to clean my car. It's something she just likes to do, I guess. But for some reason, when she does this, she always takes the tokens OUT and puts them in this odd drawer in the kitchen. So now there's about 30 dollars worth of tokens in the kitchen, and none in my car, and I'm on my way home yesterday, and I pull into the parking lot at the batting cages, and realize what she has done. Not having any cash, I am forced to return home.

1. It's really nice of her to clean out my car - I don't even ask her to do this. She just, when the mood strikes her, cleans out both our cars.

2. But why oh why would she think the tokens belonged in the KITCHEN? The batting cages is very much an impulse stop for me. I need those tokens in my car...

You're talking about females, who also think the proper place to put the remote control when it's not being used is on top of the TV.

Man, I remember that site. There was a thread (or two) here about it a long, long time ago.

whenever I see someone right "SO or signifigant other" I think they must be gya. Why else wouldn't one just say "OT: Little things my girlfriend does that drive me nuts?"

I think of S.O. as being between girlfriend and fiancee on the 'seriousness spectrum.'

Well normally I just buy more tokens - yesterday was the first time I didn't have any cash - which is why we actually now have an entire drawerful in the kitchen. So, I see what you're getting at, but I don't think so.

Yea, I agree. Your girlfriend is good. She should right a book on "How to control your man without him knowing it". Just kidding....make sure you tell her though, so next time she puts them back in your car. Problem solved.....unless she really is trying to sabatoge your batting cage experience.

One time, and you call her good? If that's her goal, then her methods are not the best. Obviously st. cronin is still going to go to the batting cages (that's why he has all the tokens). Why keep spending money on tokens?

That was my point, but I wasn't expecting a woman to understand logic.

I always thought that s.o. was another term for wife. Or homosexual gigolo.

Have you asked her to leave the tokens in the car, or are you just assuming that she knows the whole deal behind them?

I think what happens is when she cleans out the car the tokens end up either in her pockets or a bag and get unconsciously transported to the house. Then she realizes she has them, and puts them with the rest of the tokens.

I have explained this to her... she also usually takes my 'coffee card' out of the car as well, which makes even less sense.

I'd recommend keeping a cup or something next to where you drop your keys/wallet and ask her to put things like the tokens of the coffee card in if she has taken them out of the car. Also, when you tell her about the cup remember to thank her for cleaning your car.

The point is these sorts of things (batting cage tokens, coffee card, nail clippers) don't belong inside. They should be stored in the car.

I completely agree but this way when you pick up your keys to go to work the next day you will see the cup is full and take the tokens back to the car. It might be hard to get her to leave that stuff in the car and it's probably not worth trying to get her to.

You're suggesting I make things easy for her?

In this case yes. She is doing something nice for you. I would not view it as worth while to try to get her to leave that stuff in the car if there was an easy way to bring that stuff back into the car(which there isn't right now). Only my opinion. It could be a bad one but that is my take.

Here's a crazy idea....

Have you tried talking to her? Thank her for cleaning out your car, then ask her nicely to please leave the tokens in the car from now on?

Yep.

Problem is, it's such a little thing... why would I make a big deal of it? And then a month or so later, it happens again...

Why are you blaming your girl, it's YOUR responsibilty to make sure you have tokens.

Did your mom breast feed you until you where 13 or what...

PS> One of my favourites from that site:

Quote:
See if you can spot the difference between these two statements:
(a) "Those trousers make your backside look fat."
(b) "You're a repellently obese old hag upon whom I am compelled to heap insults and derision - depressingly far removed from the, 'stupid, squeaky, pocket-sized English women,' who make up my vast catalogue of former lovers and to whom I might as well return right now as I hate everything about you."
Maybe the acoustics were really bad in the dining room, or something.
