Online Dating...

How weird.

So I am chatting with this girl online through americansingles.com. We seem to be getting along pretty good.

All of a sudden she drops right out of the chat, declining to respond to me, and had already blocked me by the time I sent an email asking if everything was okay?

She was no great thing, but it feels weird not knowing what the sudden trunaround was caused by.

Guess I shouldn't have mentioned midget porn.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there. Online behavior isn't the best indication of real life behavior but a good rule of thumb is that online psycho behavior usually indicates real life psycho behavior.

I might know what happened.

How many times did you start a sentence by saying, "This one time, on FOFC..."?

lol...exactly what I was thinking. It's just odd not knowing what was going on.

I haven't had too much luck with it so far, so it was nice to actually be chatting with someone live. She was talking about how she had been on match.com and how she got in a relationship off of that that went well for a good while. I told her I hadn't had much luck there, and she asked my sn (I think that was sign in name). So I looked it up and told her, and shortly after, she was gone.

Since I had just been to match.com, though, I knew no one had looked at my profile, so whatever it was, that wasn't it.

Weird, weird stuff. :/

I met my wife online (Christian dating service), and I got lucky.

She's hot. I'm super-hot. We are hot together, and we are happy. Woohoo!

Online dating? Sounds a little sketchy and unreliable to me. Never tried it, though. I did try "speed dating" once.....it was fun

I've tried online dating and I think of the girls I have dated from online (4) they have been the most decent ones, compared to meeting them any other way. Really only one had major issues. She went phsyco because I didn't call her one night, she went to a movie with her friend and I went out to eat with my friend. I get a call the next day getting my ass chewed, I was like WTF you went to a movie I'm not going to call you since I didn't even know what time it was. She says "Duh movies don't last all night." Thank god for call block and buddy block.

Two of the girls I am still good friends with, the other two I haven't talked to since it was called off. All four were good looking, one did some modeling - she is one that I am still friends with and talk to at least once a week. I think we might be actually getting together this weekend.

The whole online thing is very fragile, you say one wrong thing and you are cut off. Plus I am pretty sure about 70% of the girls on there are there for a morale boost, wanting to see if people thought they were hot.

I met my wife way before I'd every heard of "online" anything (1990 or so), and we've been together since 1991, so I've never had the, uh, pleasure (?) of trying online dating. I assume if you go with a reputable service, they have a way of ensuring that the 28 year old female with an MBA you are chatting with really isn't a 45 year old male ex-convict, right?

Interesting concept. Not sure I'd try it if I was single, but it might tempt me.

The only person I know who has tried this is the sister of my brother-in-law's fiancee. I wouldn't call her a psycho or anything, but she has some "issues." She's already met one guy online and moved out of state to be with him, sight unseen, and after that didn't work out, she met some other guy from North Florida and had him meet her for the first time at OUR HOUSE a couple of years ago, unbeknownst to me. I was hella pissed - at the time, my wife was pregnant and we had a 4 year old in the house. This guy could have been an axe murderer for all she knew. I guess some people are just clueless that way.

Anyway, just to be sure he wasn't a nutjob, I killed him and stuffed him under the house.

Been online dating since my divorce 2 years ago. Have had three girlfriends during that time period and dated countless others. Nice way to pre-qualify people before you meet them. Haven't run into too many psycho's.

I kinda, sorta met my wife online. We first started talking to one another on a computer network. The catch would be that we were in a computer lab at State and I was sitting diagonally from her in the next row of computers. She didn't have a clue it was me for a long while until I waved at her. Lead to me asking her out on a date that night. Been together since.

A friend at work has a Russian wife, and holy shit she is fine.

I dont think it was the standard mail order stuff lol.
What happened was he had to fly to Russia about four times and meet with all her family, schmooze, shit like that.

His wife brought along with her a daughter, so i'm thinking maybe the girl wanted the great oppurtunities Of the USA for her daughter, who knows.

If you guys think the psycho ratio on the internet is high... You should spend some time around Russian women.

Hot? Yes. Crazy? I'd reckon about 80-90% of 'em are. It's madness.

A guy I used to work with got a mail order wife from the Phillipines. He had to fly over and pick her up...guess they don't deliver. She was cute, but not a major hottie. He was a fat slob that had probably never had a date. They were still married (going on 2 years) when I left that office.

I met my current girlfriend on Yahoo Personals. No complaints yet, she's great. I'd have to say this relationship has had the least drama of any one I've previously had. I have dated girls I met online throughout the last 7 years and overall it's been a better experience then the ones I have met in real life.

I think there are more psychos in the bars as opposed to online. The psychos in bars, however, tend to be much better looking. Also they usually smoke.

I met my wife online too. The screening tools available online can save thousands of $ and a hell of a lot of time & wasted effort.

My old boss married a Russian woman he met through a service. I remember looking through this three-ring binder with profiles while he discussed which ones he'd narrowed it down to. He flew over to St. Petersburg a couple of times to meet the prospects. Eventually he decided on one and brought her over here about four years ago. I have no idea if they're still together, although his previous track record of six divorces would indicate probably not.
