Looks like you have the team headed in the right direction with conference play coming up. Perrotta is horse - here's hoping he avoids the injury bug.
Gotta strategy question for ya. I notice you play a 1-3-1 trapping full court press defense and i was wondering when you employ a trap defense should it always be done in conjuction with the press and can the trap defense work by itself? I ask this because in the play-by-play u can tell when your running a press and when it's working, i.e. " Team A comes out in a full court press ... Player X gets the steal", but if i was to employ the half court trap defense solely, there's never anything (as far as i can tell) in the play-by-play to let me know if my team is executing the trap or whether it's working or not. |

Perrotta is 2nd in the country in scoring right now. If he could just stay out of foul trouble he would be average over 30 I am guessing.
( I have a few games to report tonight that are already complete ) I'm not sure how trapping works in the half court set. I've tried it as well, I can't seem to figure it out either. |

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but I have decided to change my format to a monthly report starting next season. This regular season is complete.
We experienced some hard times, we managed to lose 8 out of 10 games...mostly WAC games but we have rebounded. We are riding a six game win streak into the WAC Tournament. Eric Williams has missed the last two months due to Academics. Rico Gullick has also been suspended for the month of March due to Academics. You would think this would have killed us but we have found a spark in James Thielen who we removed the redshirt from in late February. We also now feature a much more balanced offensive attack, Rondeau and Penberthy are now complimenting Perrotta very well. Any way here is the regular season recap. |

WAC Conference Tournament
Round 1 (8) San Jose State 78, (9) Idaho 61 Quarterfinals (1) Louisiana Tech 74, (8) San Jose State 63 (4) Nevada 98, (5) Boise State 83 (2) Fresno State 68, (7) Utah State 61 (3) Hawaii 95, (6) New Mexico State 73 We win convincingly with 5 in double figures, including 21 for Perrotta and Rondeau. Up next is Fresno State who we beat in both meetings 83-76 and 110-55. We admittedly ran up the score in the 110-55 game because we needed a big win to assure our bid to the NCAA Tournament. ![]() Semifinals (1) Lousiana Tech vs. (4) Nevada La Tech won season series 2-0. (2) Fresno State vs. (3) Hawaii Hawaii won season series 2-0. Last edited by Balldog : 03-22-2005 at 07:37 PM. |

WAC Conference Tournament
Semifinals (4) Nevada 90, (1) Louisiana Tech 75 (3) Hawaii 67, (2) Fresno State 59 We overcame a 9 point second half deficit, mostly by way of a 16-0 run. Rondeau goes for a game-high 27. Finals (3) Hawaii vs. (4) Nevada Season series was split 1-1. Nevada is lead by the duo of Larry Frazier (SG, 17.9 PPG) and Joe Suh (C, 15.9 PPG). In the game we lost Frazier and Suh did nothing because of foul trouble, in the game we won they both score 20 points a piece but Perrotta had 39 that game. NCAA Tournament
First Round Results We battle in a game of runs, both teams held double digit leads twice but both teams failed to hold off the others rally. Luckily we made a run late to open the game to five and we held on. Rondeau struggled again, shooting just 4 of 15 from the floor. Luckily we forced the Owls into 23 turnovers otherwise we would have probably lost. Code:

Second Round Results What a great game, the we had the Lobos down by 12 at one point but they stormed back late via the three. We made our free throws down the stretch and made a few key stops to complete the upset. Penberthy had a great game with 25 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. Lewington also had a good game off the bench with 12 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds. Code:

Sweet 16 Results The first half was ugly but we were only down by 1, we held House and Piavet to 5 combined points. The second half we got off to a hot start and lead by 6 when Perrotta picked up his 4th foul with 12 minutes remaining, he didn't like the call and got a technical giving him his 5th foul. Kansas took the momentum and built a 10 point lead which we cut to 2 points with 5 minutes left but they pulled away again behind great free throw shooting. House and Piavet combined for 44 points in the 2nd half. Code:

Denis Edwards, Jr. and University of Maryland announce press conference!
Denis Edwards, Jr. has accepted the head coaching position at the University of Maryland. Edwards will reportedly make $579,125 per season at Maryland versus his previous salary of $463,313 at Hawaii. "It is a great honor to be a part of such a great school at Maryland. The University of Hawaii was great to me, I hate to leave there but this is a 'dream job' for me and my family. To be coaching in the ACC in just my second season as a head coach is a great tribute to the hard work me and my staff had put in at Hawaii." Edwards was offered jobs at the following schools before accepting the Maryland job: West Virginia, UTEP, TCU, SW Missouri State, San Diego State, New Mexico State, Miami (FL), Marshall, Georgetown, Colorado State, Clemson, Arkansas, and Arizona State. NOVEMBER 2006 RECAP
Even though we are 4-0 I don't think we are playing that well. We have struggled to in the first half of all four games. Kevin Foulkes has been suspended for the month of December, Edward Close is back from his injury and inserted into the starting lineup at the shooting gaurd. We are going with a three guard, small forward, and center lineup this month to see how it works. Code:
