Seattle Franchise Player Vote

All three players are up for FA and Seattle has but one tag.

Who would you franchise?

I'd put it on Jones.

Alexander is great, but there's a glut of RBs this year so there's a decent chance you can bring him back or find a decent replacement. Hasselback hasn't shown that he's really all that better than the Brian Griese level replacement QBs that are always available.

I agree with Jones. They could put it on Alexander and plan to trade him, but it's unclear who would give up a lot for him with the other RBs who will be available.

I would like Seattle to franchise Alexander primarily because it would free up Jones to be signed by the Falcons.

MIJB's crystal ball says:
Shaun Alexander to the Detroit Lions
Matt Hasselbeck back to the Packers
Walter Jones with a longer than expected hold-out this time around

We're this FOF, I'd franchise Jones, but were this real life (and it is), Shaun Alexander and Hasselbeck have too few options to start elsewhere, making Jones the safer choice to be able to keep all three of them.

I'd take Jones, too.

They almost have to franchise Hasselbeck. Unless there is some wheeling and dealing for a QB.

The front office is in so much flux though who knows.

I think they are sick of the Jones act and will make a play to sign him long term. If that fails I say he walks.

Alexander has played his last game as a Seahawk.

Theyve already franchised Jones once before, I dont think theyll do it again, im assuming Jones will leave for good. I'm betting Hassel will resign with us and wont test the market that hard. Alexander is getting "the tag", hes probably the most wanted league wise of the 3, with Jones pulling up a close 2nd.

I think they franchise Jones every year.

Jones. Why mess with tradition?

Mijb, I'm not sure where Alexander would fit in Detroit. I think Kevin Jones will be fine there and he's much younger. The Hasselbeck to GB idea is interesting, though.

Couldnt Seattle put the transitional tag on both Alexander and Jones? I believe you get 2 of them, but im not sure exactly what they do.

Hasselback is gonna resign.

He has already said as much. he wants to stay in Seattle. He is also a man of his word, a man of Integrity (oh btw also a BAC)!

I would like to see them finally sign Jones and then Franchise Alexander for at least one year.

I don't think so. You get one transition tag or one franchise tag.

Good point on Alexander to Detroit, somehow Detroit popped up, even though it doesn´t make much sense on further review.

I have to go with Hasselbeck. He's shown some very good improvement, and I don't think that Seattle can afford to let him leave.

Sign Hasselbeck, franchise Jones (4th time). Let Alexander walk.

Or, if new negotiators can sign Jones (dude, you're running out of years to get any signing bonus), franchise Alexander so that you can either 1. Trade him for an MLB. 2. Quit calling his number every time he gets to 99 yds.

Sign Hass, with the year he had, he's chomping at the bit to get back out there and prove the naysayers wrong and get back to Pro Bowl form. He's also said he wants to win with this team, and he seems to be a very up front, honest person about that stuff. I think they can negotiate a deal with him without him missing any time with a holdout next year.

For the love of god, sign Jones to a 4 or 5 year deal and give the man his money. If that doesn't work, he gets the franchise tag, but with a new president coming in, I really hope they try to get this deal done so they can franchise Alexander instead of letting him walk. That said, of the 3, if you can't get Jones resigned, he easily gets the tag.

Alexander, I'd love to see him back, and would expect him to be tagged ahead of Hass just because somebody will give up an arm and a leg for a RB with his nose for the endzone and because of the numbers he puts up every year. He's not necessarily consistent every game (a lot of that because of playcalling and not utilizing the run game the way it should be), but every year he puts up great numbers and that kind of reliability should get us something 'good' in exchange for him if we can't sign him.

But yeah, long story short, it'll be Jones for the 99th year in a row.

For me Walter Jones, I watched the Eagles go thru tackle after tackle after tackle, wasted first round picks, trade that didn't work out, took about 2 decades to get a decent offensive line together. Can't let a pro bowl caliber tackle leave. Running backs can get old very quickly and I am no fan of Hasselbach (had him on my fantasy team this year and he was less than impressive after i thought i got a bargin in the 3rd round)

has to be Jones. If they don't the Giants need to make a huge run at this guy, but Ernie Accorsi won't, because he is an ass clown.

I wonder who would be worth more Orlando Pace or Jones.

St Louis has the same problem with Holt and Pace right?

With this year's RB draft class, I doubt any team would give up too much for him. Maybe an arm OR a leg but not and arm AND a leg. They may be willing to pay him handsomely in free agency, but I doubt an blockbuster trade is going to happen.

RBs are a cheap commodity in this league now.
