More classless philly fan actions

http://www.startribune.com/stories/510/5191642.html

also read about a little girl being physically and verbally assaulted on tv this afternoon.. trying to track down a written article on that..

more i hear about stuff like this.. more i wish nfl would do like champions league does and make them play the game in a empty stadium

This stuff does happen in many other stadiums. I remember several Lakers games I was at where the fans said very nasty things to opposing player's wives back in the 90's.

I've seen fans spit on player's wives before. Of course, it is wrong. But, it happens in other city's besides Philly. Actually last year, I remember seeing a New Orlean's fan spit on Iversen's Wife

Least security escorted him out.

I'm not saying I disagree with the policy. I just don't like how Philly always takes the brunt of this when it in fact occurs in many cities. I agree with the idea that ALL pro sports leagues should do what the champions league does. Of course it will never happen due to the loss of revenue

unless its a royals home game.. a lost of 92 dollars in ticket revenue wouldn't matter

while it does seem like the brunt of it is philly fan.. in this day and age, anything bad that happens is reported upon.. you just don't see reports coming outta kc.. green bay, about fans stabbing or urinating on other fans (aka oakland) etc..

Maybe instead of say no fans allowed.. strip beer sales from a game entirely (without warning)

Most Eagles fans take pride in shit like this. The worse their reputation is, the better. We want opponents (and wives, girlfriends, etc.) to be intimidated when they come into our house. Actually, I think Eagles fans are no worse than in most other cities. But if the rest of the league wants to think we are the worst, then maybe it gives the team a slightly better home field advantage.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to put a hit on a guy like Suicane and then reenact the Last Dance with Mary Jane video with his dead body.

OK, most Eagles fans do not take pride in shit like this. The people who did are idiots, but they are a select few people, to say all Eagles fans is just a dumb dumb generalization. If a majority of the guys who did it were black would you say that most black guys are like that? Most Italian guys? No. So don't say most Eagles fans are like that because they arn't. Stupid people are everywhere.

A buddy of mine is an Aggie, and he took his family to an OU-Texas A&M game. Long story short, the fans taunted him and his family during the entire game. When the score got out of hand (in OU's favor), they started throwing things. He and his family, along with other Aggie fans, began to leave. As they did, they were spit on, showered with beer, and cursed violently. One man was punched in the face.

Now, do I think all OU fans are like this? Not in the least, but when I talk to one, it's always in my head. I'm always thinking about it.

It's the same thing with Philly fans. I doubt many of them would participate in harassing a young girl, or a player's wife, but the whole fan base gets the reputation earned by the troublemakers.

Yeah, Fresno State gets a bum rap because of the distasteful behavior of a few. You know, like throwing screwdrivers at the opposing teams football coach, cutting the ears off of opposing tems wrestlers, giving visiting student athletes STDs from unclean equipment, etc....

It's easier for people to stay with the stereotype and jump on Philly fans that way. It's a tired arguement at this point. There hasn't been a game called early due to fans throwing stuff in Philly, no NBA brawl in the stands, no instances of fans jumping on a baseball field and attacking coaches and umpires.... It's just lazy reporting to jump on the Philly fans at any incident. Oh well, that's their perogative if they don't want to really try for a story, or thread for that matter.

I don't know what section you sit in, but where I sit, anytime a fan wearing the other teams colors is around, they are subjected to extreme verbal abuse. Most of the time its good natured, and it rarely gets violent. If fans of the opposing team are subject to this harrasment, then why not the wife of the opposing QB? (BTW, don't they have an enlcosed luxury box for the players' families?)

The only time I object to it is when its a kid or the fans get physically abusive, and like I said, that rarely happens. My point wasn't specifically about this incident, just that in general most Eagles fans take pride in the reputation of being a rough crowd. Thats part of what makes us who we are, and adds to our home field advantage, IMO.

Huh? Go Figure, but this stuff just isn't known here. The only Fan to player abuse I have ever been aware of is a sort of mutual and long running beer throwing affair between Fresno and San Jose State. I'm fairly sure I'd have heard of the screwdriver if it had been mentioned, let alone the whole ear thing.

Edit: Oh and as for STD bit. Just because the man tells you the dildo is clean is no reason to believe it. Seriously, how can you even begin to believe that someone got an STD from "equipment"?

Edit TWO: Googled the Screwdriver bit, and after June Jones claimed the screwdriver had nearly missed them, and Fresno's AD apolgized, it turned out that the screwdriver came from the utility belt of a Hawaii team manager.

Edit Three: Wrestler from Oregon almost loses his ear when it was sliced off in a mugging outside his hotel. Hello sometimes the hookers will do that to you for not paying. I doubt that altercation had anything to do with the fact the guy was from Oregon.
