NFL inks deal with audible.com for downloading audio broadcasts

About flippin time.. MLB did this with video (although not with audio, which I'd want more).. but football's more interesting to listen over radio/audio.

Audio content provider Audible on Tuesday struck a deal with the National Football League to offer recordings of games on portable music players.

Under terms of the agreement, Audible.com will offer MP3-compatible audio broadcasts of the Super Bowl and conference championship games. Listeners can download the entire broadcast, or selected highlights, the morning after the game.

Consumers can download the games, from NFL.com, Audible.com and other online retailers, onto their MP3 players, including Apple Computer's iPod, Audible said.

"We're excited to offer our fans a new way to experience NFL programming," Chris Russo, NFL's senior vice president of new media and publishing, said in a statement. He added that the growth of digital downloads and MP3 devices should help the NFL reach a significantly greater audience.

The NFL recently entered into a similar agreement with Sirius Satellite Radio to broadcast football matches over its satellite network.

Major League Baseball recently linked up with Microsoft's MSN and America Online to offer live audio and video of baseball games on PCs

Why do I want to listen to the game after it's already over?
