I have decided to start a new dynasty with Fast Break College basketball.
I'll start as an level 5 coach at Columbia. My goal is to move to St. John's and win a title. My starting attributes are: Recruiting: 55 Scouting: 25 Offense: 50 Defense: 70 The league startup settings are: Attribute style: 1-100 ( I rarely coach in-game- so I always use more detailed ratings to eveluate players) Firing: on Randomize Team Prestige: No Field of 65 Limited Conference Movement Conference prestige does not update due to player performance Academic Suspensions on There won't be a heck of a lot of detail to start. I can never identify with players that I didn't recruit. It'll build with time, though. |

Our team roster is very much like a port-a-potty after a summer day at the beach.
Thankfully, the Athletic Director only wants me to finish with a .500 record in the Ivy League. With that in mind, I intend to load up on creampuffs in the non-conference schedule. My team may not even reach .500 in conference but I might be able to dress up the record. I've got four seniors-- all of them scolarship players. A PG, two SGs, and a SF. Of course, my only good player is one of the SGs, Delbert Patterson. But don't expect to hear his name called much. I expect I'll mostly fast sim until I get my players in here. I only have $17,000 to work with in recruiting. So I'm going to have to be lucky. I'm aiming for the best guys rated high or better as far as interest. I also targeted an international early. I offered all my schollies sight unseen to my targets. I've only made one change to my scholarship offers through the first few months. |

We had one rejection with the news. So we've lost out on one guy, but target a more likely prospect. The training camp seems pretty vanilla. But I love how the 1.1 patch shows the previous ratings with the current. We start the season getting blown out at Gardner Webb. Yeah, we're that bad. Plus I'm losing the one serviceable underclassman to redshirting to shore up next year's unit. I reshuffle the lineup and take care of New Hampshire at home 63-53. We go down south and lose 58-53 to Savannah State. We're turning the ball over too much, though. I decide to lower the motion in the offense. We wind up going 2-3 in November with a home win vs. Albany, 73-63. |

We get two declined schollies and no accepted ones. I take out Arkansas Pine-Bluff on the road 63-53 to even my record at 3-3. We continue the good feelings with a 52-41 win when American comes to town. We come back to earth with a 58-50 loss at Air Force. Youngstown State comes to Columbia and falls to us, 54-45. We lose at Binghamton, 69-64, in a game where we're outrebounded 32-23. We are terrible on the boards. but there's nothing I can do about that just yet. We fall at home to, previously, 1-9 Army, 62-54. We couldn't buy a bucket-- shooting 35%. Also, it didn't help that we put them on the line thirty-one times to our fourteen. We end December at 5-6. We do this despite putting them on the line thirty times We open the conference schedule by dropping a 66-56 game at home to Brown. Princeton then takes us behind the woodshed, 72-33. It stays ugly. We get an opening day win at home at Central Connecticut. I tried to schedule somewhat tougher team in non-conference games in order to battle test my talented youngsters. True Freshman James Thompson had 17 pts. and 9 boards. Here's the Schedule: Code:
We blow the doors off of Mercer in the home opener, 75-41. This time POTG is sophomore PG Percival Morgan with 12 pts., 6 assists, and 4 steals. Five players got into double figures. We continue our winning ways at Boston University. We take it 67-55. This time it's redshirt freshman Frenchman Fernand Bonenfant that's the man. He leads the way with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists from the SF position. We then go out to Portland and take the contest 90-70. Percival Morgan is again big with 29 points and 8 steals. We turned them over thirty times, including a 15-4 steal margin. We finally come down to earth in a home contest vs. Texas A&M. We drop this one 77-68. Fifth-year senior SG Matt Jacobs does us in with 37 points, including 7 of 9 from downtown! Code:

We drop a second in a row when Deleware State takes us 79-70 at our house. They got us on the strength of 35 of 51 free throws. Of course that meant that we were in foul trouble all night, too. I realizae somethings wrong when woeful Savannah State comes to town and clips us 60-51. There doesn't seem much obvious in the stats, though. They just outshot us. We manage to get off the schneide(sp?) win a win at home vs. Stony Brook, 63-55. Not the dominating performance I was hoping for. But I'll take the 'W'. A nice road win is in the cards at St. Peter's, 73-66. Percival Morgan pours in 21, with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals to lead the way. Four players score double figures. I see that my Starting center is a weak leak and shuffle my lineup after the contest. I put in a True Freshman at PF and move James Thompson, another True Freshman, to his natural C position. Our next game sees us get doubled up, 92-46, at St. Joseph's. Their shooting guard goes for 31. They dominated the glass and out shot us 50% to 30%. Just an out and out massacre. Code:

We finally get our man. He'd been holding out for a bigger school, I believe. We lost most of our secondary targets because of him. Thankfully he's with us now. Code:
I don't like that big zero in quickness. But he's seven feet and he has an 89 strength as an eighteen year-old. I also like that he put up nineteen a game and is a great rebounder and post defender with shot-blocking ability. We also got news of an academic suspension of the 9th man in the rotation. I can deal with it. But I wish it hadn't happened right before conference play started. We treat Army like a red-headed stepchild at Westpoint, 75-49. I'm still not happy with our rebounding, though. It was even. Appalachian State gets a rude reception at our gym, 71-53. Inserting freshman PF Trevor Lebrun into the lineup is starting to pay off. He helped out with ten boards and we won the rebound battle 46-30. The conference season starts with a killer. We lose by 15 at home vs. Yale, 63-48. It was another case where we were just outshot, 57% to 48%. We drop the next game, a back-to-back at home, 66-63 to Cornell. It was another case of a mad bomber. SG Mark Vanwinkle had 31 and shot 8-11 from three. It just gets worse at Princeton, 84-72-- 51% to 42%.. But worse, we get outrebounded 43-28. We finally get a win, in a non-conference game vs. Arkansas- Little Rock. I don't get it. a lot of these teams have the same prestige as the Ivys. But I just can't seem to do well in conference. Another shitty performance follows that nice game, however. We lose at Buffalo, 60-49. Code:

We start out February with Princeton at our gym. James Thompson comes up big in an 85-81 victory. We finally get a conference win. We got to the line 43 imes and outrebounded them 43-30. I slowed the pace down by one before the game. Thompson put in 25. In another dumb back-to-back at Yale (I guess the Ivy plays almost nothing but), we fall 61-49. It was the same old song as Trevor Lebrun got injured and we lost our best rebounder. They won the board battle 43-28. All right. I've had it with this season. We drop another one. I'm running a balanced attack with a 5 pace. Motion is set to 4, with 3s at 3. I will run the 2-3 Zone and the 2-1-2 Zone with a lot of trapping and doubling inside. We need to win two of our last three to break even in conference play. Unfortunately, two of the three are on the road. We're up 43-19 at the half in the game at Dartmouth. Everything is going well. Maybe I should coach every game. Even the bench players are getting in on the action. We go on to win 70-42. Percival Morgan is the PotG. He put in 15 with 3 assists and 3 steals. We get to halftime in our game at home vs. Cornell up by eight, 22-14. We've played a lot of sloppy defense, though-- committing 13 fouls. Thankfully, Cornell, to this point, is brickin' at a 50% clip from the line. By the way, we are shooting .290 and they are shooting .095. The second half is only slightly better than the first. The final score is 50-35-- good guys. Jess Pearsall is PotG. He had 14on 5 of 8 shooting and 3 of 3 from the stripe. Code:
So we've guarunteed a .500 season. I hope that'll keep the regents off my back. We can take away from the game the fact that we killed them on the glass. We get to halftime in our game at Harvard up 40-38. It's a very fast-paced game. We're shooting .533 to their .484. But they are killing us 21-14 on the glass. they have 12 fouls to our 6, however. I hope that we can exploit that in the second half. We have the game and blow it down the stretch. We give up some big threes lat and drop it 67-64. Code:

I haven't gotten any commitments by the time training camps roll around.
This year I'll give a more detailed overview of my players since they are mostly mine now. My starting center is James Thompson. He's a Junior. He's not much of a defender. But he's got a really good inside game and a decent defensive rebounder. He also has a some shot blocking ability. He also has good hands for a big man. So he's one of my key players. Code:
He is a much better defender than Thompson. He can also rebound some. Unfortunately, Lebrun has no offensive game whatsoever. He's also a Junior. Code:

He can't defend either. He's much more athletic than the guys in my frontcourt, though. Code:
But he makes up for his shortcomings on the offensive end by being a great defender. He also helps make up for Pearsall's shortcomings on the defensive end. Code:

We get our target. Things seem to be working out well. When SF Chris Dombrowski signs, it ends our recruiting for the year. you can see his player card above. We get to half time of our first conference game, at Harvard, up by four, 38-34. We come in having dropped our last two contests-- putting us at 5-7 on the year. 2009-2010 Season
We fall back into the bad graces of the board.
Our recruiting class was ranked #120. Michigan State had the #1 class. The team prestige fell to 26. Our facility upgrade puts our training facility at 32. Tht's second in the conference. We once again keep our whole staff. I once again get as strong a non-conference schedule as I can. Code:

We have four sholarships are available, all bigs. I have to replace a Center, 2 Power Forwards, and my 6'10" Small Forward.
November One of our scollies has been declined already. Our first game goes well. We beat up Rutgers in Jersey 70-57. We fouled the hell out of them, though. Code:

By the way, here's the rundown of our starters.
Xavier Hawley takes over the center position. He's 7'1" and he's got 100 in strength. I love his inside game and offensive rebounding ability. He's also a decent defender and defensive rebounder. Code:

We get one commitment and two rejections to start the month. the two rejections were longshots. Here's the guy we got. Code:

We win the first game of the month at home against Lehigh, 79-63. We are really rolling. But I believe we've got a rough patch coming up. I set the schedule to get pretty much progressively harder. I wanted to build up my team's toughness before the conference schedule starts. Code:
It becomes moot when we play an awful game at home vs. Austin Peay. We get spanked, 86-75. It wasn't as close as the score, either. Code:

Recruiting just took a bad turn. We lost out on two guys and got no commitals. We get to conference play at 8-3. We aren't ranked anymore, though. January is not very kind to us. We go 2-2 in the conference. That's not what I was hoping for. We're at 11-6 overall after starting 7-1. Code:
