Solecismic's next masterpiece (2005 edition)

It's never too early for rampant, wild, unwarranted speculation.

I did this survey two years ago and last year, with interesting results.

Again, please don't count any patches or free upgrades.

Maybe Jim is working on EA's "new football management sim" to be bundled with Madden 2006 as a standalone/expansion pack for users who want FOF type of franchise mode.

http://sports.ign.com/articles/572/572886p1.html

Meaning no ESPN NFL 2K6, no more NFL GameDay, and bye-bye NFL Blitz. All football fans will be left with are Madden, NFL Street, and a new unannounced football management game that is in the works from, you guessed it, EA Sports.

"All of our data shows that there is a huge market for manager-style games," said Jeff Brown, Director of Corporate Communications for Electronic Arts, "and you could see a new type of football game from EA."

edit: but seriously, I think TCY2 would be a good bet. However, didn't Jim just change the Solecismic website name to frontofficegames.com or something? Not sure if it's been like that for a long time but maybe thats an indication that he is expanding his development field.

I think baseball is the frontrunner. The fact that he did not release his yearly football game, and the fact that he said there is a summer release of his next game makes me feel baseball. Although I would love TCY2 too.

I am at the point where I don't care... He doesn't have to promise a release date just tell us what the hell it is...

This can't be proper rampant speculation without throwing out FOF: The Unified Years, with pro, college, and high school all wrapped up into one nice giant multiplayer package, so you can watch your draftees from high school onward...

Jim is too busy trying to keep his IHOF team from tanking in salary cap hell to be worrying about things like a new game.

This is going to be my last post in one of these speculation threads.

Frankly, I wish he'd just tell us ahead of time. I understand why he doesn't, but it still annoys me.

I'll read what he has to say on the subject, but I'm done making wild guesses.

For the third straight year, I'm saying tennis sim. Not that I have any idea, just being consistent. Besides, he always says he's working on a 'new' game.

I still think that a NASCAR sim has an untapped market, but I'm not a big Nascar guy myself.

Not quite, but I think your first link there is part of the picture. I'm not talking conjecture, here, either. I'm talking direct (albeit a bit cryptic) words from Jim in a thread that was very widely read.

I still dont care. His little hints get real annoying after while... I dont see what is so hard about saying this is my next game "Blank" Doesnt have to say features or anything... we as fans of the series can then start coming out ideas of what might be in stored for the game. Sheesh. And yes I am bitch'n

Agreed on College Baseball/Hockey , but I think he will update TCY first, then maybe head back to FOF. But that just a pure guess.

I was kinda thinking that until the patches came out. Now I firmly believe he is going to do something outside of football. Pro Baseball and Hockey seem to have decent products out. Putting out a college game in either genre might touch untapped markets.

Outside of football I think it's either gonna be on Baseball or Basketball.
