FM Online Challenge - The Gauntlet has been thrown down

Since we all keep saying "I really want to play an online game of FM2005".. I figured I'd better take the initative and lay the challenge down formally.

I'm not looking for a big game, maybe 5 people tops.. I'd like to give current non-dynasty writers priority for two reasons: A) I don't want to take away from their current dynasties (I read em at work all the time) and B) I was figuring to write it up.

Also: I'm willing for lower level game, or all as fairly big teams, but I'd like to keep it in the same division, whichever we decide, that way we get lots of PvP action

Champions Cup. Just pick 4 teams in one round and divide that up that way

I'm in. I'd prefer high league action for a MP game.

i'm in.. but i can only really play on weekends, and upper division teams would be better for a 3+ person game..

I wouldn't mind doing a lower league game in the future though

Ok.. obvious divisions then to run for an Online Game

English Premier League (come on, who doesn't know of it )

Pros: Lots of good teams (ManYoo, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc)
Cons: Everybody plays England, Work Permits

Italian Serie A
Pros: Several good teams, several RICH teams
Cons: Variable # of non-EU players

La Liga (Spanish top league)
Pros: Some of the richest teams in the world are here. And even scarier, some of em aren't named Real Madrid.
Cons: Limited EU policy, Real Madrid.

German Bundesliga
Pros: Pretty well balanced
Cons: Not a lot of super cash teams here

Dutch Eredivisie
Pros: Very Liberal policy with regards to Non-EU Players
Cons: Limited # of good teams (4 giants, rest dwarves)

Scottish Premier League
Pros: The Old Firm
Cons: Everybody else PLUS Work permits

MLS
Pros: We can take local teams
Cons: We can only buy local players

Italy sounds interesting. Same with France. How are you thinking of assigning teams?

What I was figuring on:

Everybody picks a team from the league we choose, and then draw randomly for team selection. That way we get the top teams from the league, but we don't have a problem with the great teams being taken by someone who got in first

Italy would be best for high level, France is mid to high level (about Holland/Portugal level talent)

if you remove Real, you should remove Barcelona (and maybe Valencia) too.

If you have room for another player, I would like to give multiplayer FM a try.

Leagues:
Germany
English LLM (Conference N/S)
Maybe something nobody plays like Israel or Korea?

Availability: late week nights and weekends (eastern timezone)

I'm interested.

Italy Seria A is my top choice, but I'd take part anywhere. I'd prefer to play in the top league though.

Looks like Italy is the #1 choice.

Here's a list of pretty good teams from the Serie A:

AC Milan
Inter Milan (or Internazionale)
Parma (although they won't have much money to start, their parent company, Parmalat, is bankrupt)
Udinese
Roma
Juventus
Fiorentina (although, they are expected to battle relegation)
Lazio

I'll be the first to add a team into the pool of player controlled teams:

AC MILAN

we're not "claiming teams" per se.. we're building the pool of teams available, once everybody's chosen a team, a random draw will decide what team you get (fairest way)

Ah.. in that case I would put the priority list by strength (IMHO of course) as:

Milan
Juve
Inter
Roma
Lazio
Parma
Fiorentina
Udinese

So if we have 4 players then draw from the teams down to Roma, if we have 6 then down to Parma etc.

do we have a better idea of when gaming sessions would be? because that will determine whether or not I can participate...

hmmmn. well weekend evenings I am (generally) free after 9pm EST. and it's pretty doubtful that's negotiable on my part (I'd have to jigger my work schedule and be willing to work at 5am which I don't see happening for anything or anyone). So I don't know...depends on how that fits.
