Most Embarassing Lyrics (Irony Division)
This past weekend my wife and I took the kids out for our weekly "going out to lunch" expedition. We usually hit one of the major chains (TGI Fridays, Houlihans, etc) and this week picked Ruby Tuesdays. For whatever reason, they play the music unusually loud in that place and we had the added luck of sitting in a booth right under one of the speakers (lucky us!). Well, they must have had a "Worst of the 80's" CD on, as every song was definitely from that time period and featured a fine collection that included artists like Katrina and the Waves (if I have to hear "Walking on Sunshine" one more flippin' time, I will vomit). Well, on came a George Michael song that I hadn't heard for the longest time - it's the one about his girlfriend and all he does is work for her. Choice lyrics like, "gotta give ya money, gotta give ya money - hoo!". Then came the choice line from the song - "And now you tell me that you're having my baby, I'll tell ya that I'm happy if you want me to."
Considering George's taste in partners, was this an intentional ruse by the songwriter/record company? Or...was this just something to be embarassed about years after the fact?

It would have been more ironic if he had said "I want to do you in a public bathroom stall", but that was saved for LA Guns.

Speaking of Katrina and the Waves, has anyone else thought that the ad libbed "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" at the end of the song sounded like something out of an 80's porno?

kinda like asking if you want to be kicked in the left or the right nut. Either way, it's not a good thing.
