Jims Next Game

Like some people on this board, I plan to automatically buy whatever game he comes out with next. I think he's earned that mindset from me because of his great products, great consumer support and ability to be open to peoples ideas. I was wondering how many of you think the next game, no matter what genre, will be an "automatic" buy.

80-90% for me, only a limited few would I pass on right away and maybe not even those for good but would right off the bat.

No game is an automatic buy for me anymore, even games from small developers that I trust and love to support.

If there is a trial I will try any game Jim releases(even hockey... I hate hockey).

As long as it isn't a college sports game, I will buy pretty much any Solecismic release.

It depends upon the sport. If it is a football game, it is a definite buy for me. If it is curling, I'll pass.

If it's front office politics, there's no possible way I will shell out the $40.

Given the popular poll, it looks it could be a 50/50 chance. Will buy if it's TCY2. Will be forced to buy if it's FOF6. Won't buy if it's Baseball or Basketball.

Jim stated earlier that the upcoming game isn't a politics game.

If its football or baseball I'm all in. Anything else will have to wait until the peer pressure from here overcomes me.

I would buy TCY, FOF, or baseball right off the bat. I would almost certainly buy anything else anyway, but they wouldn't be the sort of 'downloading it the second it's available' type of purchases.

No. I would wait and see pretty much... I need great features not just fixing of old features or adding ones that dont add anything to the game its self.

Since ive ogttena "real" job it seems anything that falls in the EA, ESPN, Text sim (sports) categories are automatic buys now.

I agree with DD - not necessarily automatic, but it's definite that I'd seriously consider it, regardless of the genre.

Any football game - probably/definitely no. None of his football games need updating.

Any other game - most likely yes.

(BTW, I'm fairly confident it'll be baseball.)

More in-depth recruiting........yikes
Easier recruiting.......Yes

Not necessarily easier to get players just some type of easier to use recruiting, whether it be slider adjusted or what, in TCY I loath the recruiting side of things.

That's funny because for some, recruiting is 90% of the game. It's the in-season coaching part that is mind-numbing tedious.

It's automatic for me. Nothing comes close to FOF in my mind and if that means I have to buy Front Office Football Baseball ( ) to keep Jim out of a cubicle to make FOF6 or TCY2, then so be it.

If you're going to make a college football sim, you can't skimp on recruiting.

I think it's going to be TCY 2, and I think it's going to be real soon. In time for Bowl Season.

I have my credit card in my hand right now, and I will gladly pre-order sight unseen if I can get a CD copy of the game.

BTW I want MORE indepth recruiting. I believe a lot of people go to Notre Dame because it is a Catholic School. I think teams that run the Wish-Bone should not be allowed to recruit the highest rated QB in the country. There are just so many reasons to idolize a school.

If recruiting were TOTALLY revamped, I'd consider buying an FOF:TCY game.

You mean like if it was pulled out of the season and given its own progress task? I'd go for that. The main reason it's built into the season was that he saw some HS recuits at a UM game or something along that line. I think he was being silly for mixing real life with playing a game.

FOF or TCY would preorder right now, any other sport would consider seriously. Political or any other kind of non sport text sim, would trial it but i don't think i'll find them interesting.

RPI-Fan, do you really think that current football games can't be improved anyway? i'm pretty sure that a lot of us can suggest tons of things to keep improving them year by year, just take a look at the suggestion threads for TCY and FOF. I respect your opinion, but don't agree at all, nothing is perfect in this life, everything has room to improve.

It's pretty much automatic, though I would have to give it serious thought if it's TCY2. I was never able to get into TCY that much, for some reason...

I refuse to buy games that are not of interest to me. I'd rather send Jim a check under those circumstances.

That said, TCY2 would be an instant buy for me if he has made the changes I've suggested several times already. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to buy, but after the initial rush. FOF2005 is a more difficult case; I'd have to look at the exact list of updates to see whether there is sufficient change to get yet another one. I'd pass on Front Office Hockey and be inclined to do the same to Front Office Basketball (college or pro).

I'm on the fence in regards to Front Office Baseball, but I think a very good game could be made with just high school, college & minor league baseball (not to mention foreign countries). If this is what Jim has in mind, then I'll be one of the first in line.

Most of the other likely prospects (Front Office Football: The High School Years, Front Office Arena/XFL/NFL Europe, Front Office Curling, Solecismic Hotel & Casino) are of interest and worth considering.
