"The screen of silence" - by WSUCougar

I couldn't let this gem get lost, buried in another thread. WSUCougar came up with this in a mere 23 minutes after a suggestion was made. Enjoy.

Hello GameSpy, my old friend. I’ve hit the refresh key again.
Because FOFC isn’t loading…left me with no place for posting.
And the puzzle that was planted in my brain still remains within the screen of silence.

On restless boards I walked alone, narrow sites of rehashed porn
‘neath the halo of a desk lamp, I missed the tales of kleenex now damp
when my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a time-out error
that was always there, and touched the screen of silence.

And in the naked light I saw ten thousand Jeeber-posts, maybe more
Members talking without posting, members hearing without reading.
Members dynasties that readers never shared, no one dared disturb the screen of silence.

"Fools," said Franklin, "you do not know, GameSpy like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you, in the butt is how they reach you."
But his words like silent raindrops fell and echoed in the threads of silence.

So the members bowed and prayed to the GameSpy god they made
and the sign flashed out its warning in the words that it was forming.
And the sign said "The words of the posters are written on the board threads
and dynasties and whispered in the screen of silence."

I actually have "Sound of Silence" on my computer and it's funny to listen to it while reading those lyrics....

It hasn't been linked in this thread, silly...

Oh, by the way, both this thread and the recorded version need to go into the reference thread ASAP.

Actually I intend to redo that recording this evening. My wife was taking a nap at the time I did it, in expectation of staying up late and watching election results, so I sang more softly than normal. However, the IPAQ was sitting on my desk...right at guitar height. The combination of singing softly and the guitar being right in front of the recording device needs to be corrected.

Just listened to the recorded song. Very nice, my wife actually asked me if that was Johnny Cash who was singing!
