fantasy football question - defensive players

Does anyone have a good scoring system for individual defensive players? We are looking at potentially adding these to our league, either in place of or in addition to, team defenses.

My league allows you to start three defensive players. 1 DL, 1 LB, and 1 DB. Each team has six on their roster(two of each)The scoring for all of them is the same.

td=7
Int=5
tackle=2
assist=1
Sack=4
1/2 sack=2
Safety=5(I think 5)

I have played in leagues where two players at each position started..and the points awarded were more than halved.

In that distribution, I'm guessing that the LB position comes out pretty well relative to the other two, correct?

How does that scoring compare to other position players like RB? What % of the weekly outcome do the defensive players usually represent? 10%? 50%?

Thanks ... I've got a couple of ideas brewing, but the tackles really seem to skew the stats ... or at least as I visualize them.

when tackles aren't even an official stat... adding defensive players just seems like a bad idea.

I agree. I prefer using Team defenses.

I agree ... league seems to want to move to individual defensive players, but I'm having a hard time trying to balance their impact, at least a little, across DL, LB, and DB with tackles. It should certainly be included in the stats, but when you start weighting tackles differently for each of the defensive positions that makes the scoring get complex fast. Maybe having a floor for tackles for each position ... getting points after 4 tackles for a LB, 2 tackles for DB, and all tackles counting for DL?

Just throwing out ideas to see if people think they make sense before I propose something half-baked at the league meeting later this month.
