Angry IV.19 {HELL} Season 23 Dynasty!

Here it is, the long awaited season 23 dynasty thread.

Of course, we have the originals and the deepest rivalry in all of FOFC:

The SouthPark Cows (SPC) from Nebraska (kinda), headed up by myself: lytic aka mod-lytic aka Jay Gargan.
A defender trainer... for some odd reason. Also the soon to be former U20 trainer for Hanguk... for some odd reason.

...and the rival:

The Gargoyles (Evil Gargs) from Chicago, headed up by the mastermind: ravenhawk aka RH aka Rabid Hog.
Forward trainer... and most luckiest bastard in all of IV.19.

...and:

Fockers (Focks) from Philly, headed up by the insane: Hobbes- aka N8Mil aka Nate Niller.
A Playmaking trainer... like everyone else. Also he has way too much spare time.

...and the new guys:

Calvary Crusaders (CCs) from Cali, headed up by the desperate fnbrown aka Franky B aka FNB.
A Keeper train it seems... and someone who looks to be in for a long season (but you never know).

... and

Gryndal (grundel) from Ohio, headed up by the part timer hhiipp aka hiccup aka PTer.
A Playmaking trainer... like everyone else. He should just make the leap to fulltime FOFC.

...and of course we say good bye to the the all time IV.19 player:

The Mad Huligans (hulis) from Kansas, headed up by apoc's cousin aka bluemage35 aka Cody Gorges. IV.19's all time leader in EVERYTHING!!! Even goals against!!!

Anybody think that they can (or will) challenge the Avengers this year?

I can, but I won't.
I'm getting the ultrasweet trainees this season so maybe 4 seasons from now I'll be ready to move on.

Lol! I thought you were planning on moving up next season. Now your plans call for 4 seasons?

yeah I know I know... I also plan to quit by the end of this season.

...or even run for USA Nats coach next season.

Who knows? I'll move when I think I have a chance to stick. Right now, my team just isn't moving along like I had hoped and with CA being useless, I have to start over.

I agree with your assessment. I've looked at the competition, and I don't think I'm gonna win a single game all year.

FNB,

6th place is wide open if you can score a victory this week against Gryndal.

I don't think that's likely. From the look of it, his midfield is much stronger than mine. I'm thinking if I just hand over my lunch money right away, I can save myself a beating.

After a fairly unfriendly form update I'd be lying if I claimed to not be concerned about the outcome of this match. Looks to be a close match. Will do predictions tomorrow when I get some time at work.

I guess this would be considered a "Dola" and since I'm on the FOFC site I suppose I should oblige by the rules and recognize that it is in fact "Dolaing". Now that that is out of the way a little introduction is required.

My real name is Brian and I reside in southern Ohio. Married for 2 years, have 2 dogs, and our first child on the way (been baking about 3 months now). I tend to spend most of my day surfing HT or other various non-work related sites. As some of you know, Drunson aka DamnMikeBrown and I have met and been to a few Bengals/Reds games.

I have been playing HT since season 18, with season 19 being my first full season. My season 19 went really well and I was able to promote into IV.36 where I found myself completely undermanned and out of my league. This season saw me finishing 6th and playing a relegation match which I was not able to win and thus sent back to V.113. Season 21 ended with me finishing in 2nd and then, obviously season 22 I finished first and earned the autopromotion, leaving me in this worst case scenario that is IV.19.

The off season saw me selling one of my premier IMs, Barnett Clarkson. However, I don't feel he will be terribly missed as a few of the other guys are very close in skills and abilities. Julio Rizaldos was also shipped off.

New acquisitions include trainees:
Manuel Gomez - 18
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

Daniel Merlo - 18
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: inadequate

Keeper:
Andy Moulton
Skill undisclosed - Hey I have to keep you guessing about something . . .

I don't plan on Manuel or Daniel getting any league play time this season, barring key injuries.

Goals for season 23:
6th place or better finish.
4th round of cup play. - If you look at my last few seasons in the cup you'll see why my expectations aren't overwhelming here.
New solid coach.
Improved attack ratings.

Next seasons predictions:

1) Avengers: The obvious favorite to win the series by a landslide. This team is likely to make someone cry before the season is over.

2) Gargs: He looks like the second bully on the list, could give Avengers a run for their money if the Avengers happen to slip up early in the season.

3) Fockers: Have to respect his ratings, can field a mean offense. However, the injury in the cup to his keeper will likely put Gargs in the drivers seat for 2nd place.

4) Arsenal: Like what he's doing but I feel last season may have been a bit flukey for him. (Hope this doesn't get me MOTS'd)

5) SPC: Because he likes 5th place.

6) West Ottawa: Still think he has a better team than myself and Calvary.

7) Gryndal: The high hopes for my team were shattered when I got the notice of which IV series I was headed to. Hopefully it will be a better finish than this but as of now this is how I feel.

8) Calvary: Could compete in most IV series but got screwed like me and ended up here.

Now we just have to wait 14 more weeks to find out if I'm right

Good luck to everyone. Awaiting an exciting season!

I don't think you can dola in your own dynasty report. But I don't know the FOFC bylaws that well.

All IV.19er here, just saying what up to all and good luck in tomorrow's matches. Treat the newbies well, and I hope and pray that I will not be in your series next year (although that might change b/c no one in my series wants to participate). I'll prolly be around here a lot, so if any new folk want to know how to finish 6th and then lose a qualifier, I can help you out with that.

One part of me is apologetic to the lobsided outcome of our match the other side is excited, as the goal differential may be a huge issue come the end of the season.

My defenders suck... and they don't build youngin's like they used to. They are all breaking while my 30+ year olds are going strong.

Anybody happen to know what Avengers trains? All his players are old. Does he just keep pumping his training into his old midfielders? Can't be. They played both Cup and League this week. Every player, with the exception of the midfielder that was accidentally played out of position as a defender is at the same position in Cup and League matches . . . his whole team is old . . .

I can't figure it out . . . he a SP trainer?

He's training PM. All but 1 of his 18-20 year olds are middies. Albeit by the looks of it they're not very good trainees.

Maybe he played his starters in his first cup match to try to curve their form upward for the first league match and he'll be playing his trainees tomorrow night?

Good point. I'm stupid. I forgot that last week's cup match and this week's league match aren't the ones that are linked to training. I'm sure you're right. But he's training . . . a . . . thirty . . . year . . . old . . .

We need to get some old fashioned cletes on those monster midfielders.

No suprises in week 2.

After the training update I listed Jon Minter for a cool 1.9 million, Jon was never really a factor on the team due to the fact that he was always in horrible form. On the date of his sale he was at wretched and I'm actually quite suprised he even got a bid.

Time to do some shopping, as soon as I can figure out what I want to buy.

Have fun shopping. Gargoyles are pretty well set with their lineup. I've got a cash reserve in case I need to buy a player or two to fill in. Other than that, I won't be adding to my team until the end of the season.

4th round of cup play

1st of my goals completed and my 4th rounder is a home game against a div V team that demoted last season.

I'm in the middle of a couple of rough league games so maybe I can keep the supporters happy with a decent cup run.

Lytic is the master of 5th place. I still have faith. The smart way to get 5th place is to keep your supporters around by winning cup games, get you 15-18 points weeks 6-12 if you can, then PIC the last two games for TS for the qualifier.

I agree, though. I would have thought that you would have gotten 3-6 points between those two games.

Gargs need some help if we're going to get out of IV.19, however, I have a feeling that most people would rather send Avengers back out.

okay smartass, you tell me what I did wrong here:

SouthPark Cows - Calvary Crusaders 1 - 2

Date: 7/12/2004 at 01.00
MatchID: 22532623
Arena: Starks Pond
Crowd: 38692

38692 spectators arrived at Starks Pond, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. SouthPark had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. Lineup: Tirado - Reyes, Lee, Soler, Lentz, Whalen - Torflod, Danhof, Martinsson - Orkola, Tackmann.

Crusaders had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Brown - Frederick, Thomas, Tirado - Swanson, Gupta, Morrell, Jansson, Chestnut - Goff, Panato.

Crusaders clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, using their talent for it. The referee showed Crusaderss Benjamin Chestnut the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The 33rd minute saw the home team take a 1 - 0 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for SouthPark was Hans G. Torflod. 36 minutes into the game Crusaders´s Roberto Panato found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring to make it 1 - 1. A peculiar volley from Adesh Gupta almost resulted in a goal, but Benjamin Chestnut wasn´t able to exploit the well-timed pass. Bobby Goff had a good try in the 40:th minute, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. 1 - 1 was the half-time score. Crusaders, bringing the final ball possession rate to 64 percent, dominated the battle.

Crusaders took the lead after 64 minutes with 1 - 2. Michael Jansson placed the ball out of reach for the home sides keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. The referee showed SouthParks Thomas Reyes the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Crusaders, with an impressive 69 percent possession of the ball.

SouthPark´s best player was Fred Tirado. Joacim Martinsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. Crusaders´s best player was Lesley Morrell. However, Roberto Panato made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.

HIGHLIGHTS

1-0 Hans G. Torflod (33)
1-1 Roberto Panato (36)
1-2 Michael Jansson (64)

(Y) Benjamin Chestnut (18)
(Y) Thomas Reyes (68)

Can't you play some of your CDs offensive to get help at midfield ? that's your weak point as you must already know

Adidas is in first place after three games. I'm not sure how much that says, but we'll check back in with him at the halfway point.

Not sure what you could do, considering the choice you made on your training program. I'm not a believer in the "batch" training process. I favor more of an assembly line where you sell one trainee and buy one trainee every year.

i agree with raven on that one. i've got a friiend getting ready to dump 4 strikers.. that'd be nice, but he's been training them for 4 seasons, and he unless he gets better cash than I think he will for the other two, he's going to be hurting in 2 seasons.

I'd like to get to the point where i sell 3 every two years. We'll see if that happens

BTW, my series is not much fun, but I do get a win now and then :P

Bluey,

I'm not sure if that strategy will work either, but it depends on the trainees that you buy. If you buy 19-20 year olds it might work. However, if you're buying 17 y/o's, you'll never have a striker above magnificent playing for you. I think that you'll need better than that to compete at the higher levels.

To be honest, though, I'm not sure my strategy will work either as I will have 3 trainees of supernatural and above on my team at one time. I'll tell you how it goes in three seasons when my training program is actually in full swing.

I wanted to give them first string experience and get them on the U20 squad with possibly a future on the Nats. If I had a defender on the Nats, it would be okay to train them to a high level.
I'm probably gonna break down and buy a middie, but I still need a excellent coach to complete my training program.

dola...
It's sad that defender trainers are still getting screwed... I'm losing 2 training slots to stay competitive.

Whoops, I meant 5 every 4 seasons. I will keep one for quite some time I think. He is an excellent coaching prospect. We'll see what I need to compete at that point, and if I have to hang onto one that's fine too.

Finally made myself a logo. Please don't laugh, it's the first time I've used photoshop. I am hoping to get better in the near future.

Any ideas on how I can beat Avengers? We'll see what happens in the cup game. If I win my cup match, I'll save my TS for a home cup match, if I lose on Wednesday, I'm going for the Jugular . . .
