Angry AMAZING...Pat Tillman on Ebay...Only in America

Right now, a lot of 3 Pat Tillman Rookie cards is selling for over 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

I don't know what to think

I can't blame the seller, that's college tuition type money

What do you think...

I'm just sad...

Makes me think that I would love to have a Pat Tillman rookie card right about now...

I'm betting the auction is rigged. It is a tragedy that Tillman died, but even with his tragic death, his common rookie card is hardly worth that kind of money. If you look at recent athletes who passed away before their time (Mike Darr, for example) those cards are not garnering that kind of money. Something doesn't seem right about this and yes, it is that they're making a profit off of Tillman's death, but I mean beyond that, the auction itself seems off.

Likely someone (or multiple people) who also found the auction tasteless put in insanely high max bids in order to keep the seller from actually selling the card.

we see it all the time with those auctions that start getting passed around or posted on wacky web sites (like the vagina carrot).

Unfortunatly for those who do that, eBay takes all bid seriously and if the end up winning with a $15k bid, they could find themselves in some legal trouble.

I would keep an eye on it and see when it ends. Look at the bid history. See if there was a significant jump somewhere.

Just checked it out. Damn, there are about 5 cards going between 5K and 22K. There are a bunch of other things going for less. I saw 1 3X5 card with an autograph with COA.

Part of me is jealous that these guys 'hit it rich'.

Another part is pissed off that they are doing it before the grieving is over.

You are right, only in America.

Well from when I glanced at the bidder ids there were two ids which were repeats in several of the "big ticket" auctions, so I'm willing to bet they're either together or the same person.

If you seriously think these are real auctions...you are VERY gullible.

Well from my experience (since 1999) with ebay, I have seen bogus auctions get taken down pretty quickly.

Yes, there is probably an excellent chance that these people won't get paid the final bid price.

Yeah, just to echo what Hurst said, there are plenty of assholes out there who would try to take advantage of Tillman's death. I wouldn't hold these people above that, so if that means it is a "real" auction, then so be it.
