Golden Scribes voting procedure in Greatest Dynasty of All Time Category
I'm considering 2 possible point systems for the voting in the Greatest Dynasty of All Time category in this year's Golden Scribes. Last year, I felt the fact that some posters had multiple popular dynasties put them at a disadvantage against posters who had only one popular dynasty. In effect, I think having multiple popular dynasties worked against some candidates. To combat that problem, I have come up with 2 possible voting methods for this year's competition.
Option 1: Each voter can vote for up to 3 dynasties, with each vote counting for one point. Option 2: Each voter can vote for up to 3 dynasties, alloting 3 points to their favorite, 2 points to their runner-up, and 1 point to their second-runner-up. Please choose the one you think will produce the fairest results. |

P.S. - I think option 1 is better, because in system 2, someone with multiple popular dynasties risks having their votes split.

I think option 2 is better. Suppose, for example, that Dynasty A gets five third-place votes and nothing else. Then, assume Dynasty B gets four first place votes and nothing else. Dynasty A would win with five points, despite receiving no first or second place votes.
Of course, I'm just thinking out loud and haven't considered all of the possibilities. It seems to work for the Cy Young award (except in '98 when Trevor Hoffman was robbed by Tom Glavine). Either way you do it will probably be fine. |

Huh. I'm surprised by the voting so far. I figured option 1 would win. Down with the option 2s!

Well it appears number 2 won. Ah well. Majority wins, and frankly it probably benefits me in the voting...
I will try to get the official ballots put together sometime today. It's just been very hectic for me recently, and it's been hard to find time for things like this. Thanks for voting everyone! - Kodos |
