VCII 2031
I thought I would start new since this will include some pictures.
2030 evaluation of Darkiller. Performance 100 Franchise 100 Profit/Loss 100 Difficulty 73 Score 97(Tied for 1st) Another brilliant year from Darkiller, but there is work to be done. Our team is aging and now is the time to build McKnight his foundation for truly showing his abilities. FB Clarence Lee retired after 15 great seasons as a Brown. 1695 yards and 25 TDs, 2 All Pro selections, possible Team Hall of Famer. LB Seth Gordon, Keeper, retired after 13 seasons. 826 Tackles, 22 Sacks, 7 Ints, 2 TD. 1 All Pro Selection, probable team Hall of Famer. A check of our ticket prices reveals that we are charging our great fans TOO MUCH. I decide to give them a break and make sure we are the highest ticket in the league. We are 22,300,000 under the cap with 39 players signed. In this day and age, that ain't much to write home about. All of our Free Agents are Unrestricted, but none have ever started a game for the Browns in their career. I decide to Tag G Mack Darden. After some renegotiating, including extending T Rondell Finch for 4 more years, we have 45 million in room, but we need some youth, some cheaper backups and some draft picks, I begin to go on the biggest trading binge of my VCII tenure. QB Rodgers, WR Winslett, G Browning, DT STarks, CB Goldhammer all get traded before the draft for picks., no Free Agent moves. During the Draft I also trade DT Chapman for two #1's due to getting a stud fall to me that is better already and G Hopkins with some late round picks for a great yound stud Guard. 2031 Draft 1(4) RB Derek Ainsworth 6-0 209 UAB, possibly the greatest Browns running back, talent wise, of all time, screenshot to follow. 1(11) DT Geoff Freibag 6-1 269 Boise State, Kid is already scary good 74/96, 63/84, 93 1(19) TE Billy McWilliams 6-7 246 Washington, better potential than even Welch, will learn well, should be a nice big target for McKnight for years to come. 55/100, 44/96, 100, 56/100, 100, 96, 100 2(1) C Henry Frederick 6-4 266 Minnesota, nice young center, nothing more than a back up though. 7(13) QB Shannon Shaw, simply a backup. I also traded and extra 2031 1st rounder and a 2032 1st rounder for WR Byron Armour, a rookie out of St Marys 33/96, 100, 46/100, 100, 96, x, x, 100. Should develop into a great 3rd wideout to finish the package for McKnight. The Guard I got, is 3rd year man, Jerry Benson, 89/93, 100, 92. Big help as our Guard position is really only Vanderclute, who is in his 13th year. Next year, I hope to infuse some youth in the defense, but it is already younger, but in need of a top notch Safety. We could also use a new FB with the retirement of Lee but Jelinek will do nicely this year. Our cohesion is now 68, 98, 100, 87 Finally a look at our Running Back log jam: Casey Beyer Nate Borders Derek Ainsworth I'm probably going to play Ainsworth the most, but the two keepers will see plenty of playing time as I also need help at FB and WR for depth issues. Out of sheer curiosity, are you guys playing this on FOF2, 'cause if it's FOF2000 I now worship your abilities to get a roster this strong under the cap.
(sorry to interrupt your thread, just very curious)

Hi guys! I am obviously new here but I saw the name of your new running back and just had to ask if you did a background check on him before the draft. I am a teacher and had a student a few years ago by that name. He was the biggest pot smoking, dope pushin, loser I had ever see. I had always wondered what had happened to him. Do you think this is the guy. You might want to check his draft profile again.

One in the same. Pot smoking worked for Warren Sapp so its mandatory for all of the VC II rookies.

The Greek is hurt for 3-5 weeks in the preseason as is Borders.
2031 First Half Recap:
Lewinsky is now up to 0-2 weeks, thank goodness, he was on fire before the injury. Beyer and Borders are both 3-5 week injuries. We are 8-0 at Mid-Season and looking strong running a 50/50 offense, not the Morgado 75, but a 50-50-50 offense, the defense just never knows what is coming. McKnight 141/237 59.4% 1899yds 16TD 3INT 102.2 Ainsworth 189-1031yds 12TD 16rec 129 TD Lewinsky(5 Games) 23-498 7TD Henderson 30-410 2TD Wiese 10.5 Sacks, 25 Tackles(Leads team) Hutchins 4 Ints. McKnight & Ainsworth have been super human, I thought for a while Sammie wouldn't throw an INT all year. Cincy is 2nd in the division at 6-2, both losses to us. Great roster shot. One thing I noticed though, you don't have "The Greek" marked as a keeper. He is my second keeper (he was made a keeper right after Jeffires retired)
Great start to the season, keep up the good work! These kids today... they're pretty hot $h*t! |

McNight is playing some HUGE HUGE football so far... Too bad Lewinsky got hurt because he, as well, was having a blast of a season Also, you gotta love Ainsworth's rookie debuts...over 1000 yards already mid way through the season !!! and a 241 yard performance in only his 4th professional game...whaoo. !

I look at Ainsworth and see what The Bookstore could have become were it not for his Ki-Jana-like propensity for injury...

Very very true Subby. Borders has hurt his neck twice this season and hasn't played much, Beyer has about 200 yards rushing but is hurt now as well.
Hopefully Derek will stay healthy, so far the Offense is unstoppable. |

yes, the defense clicked with the 4-3 but not the 3-4. I don't know why as we were much deeper at LB with 6 quality guys. We had 3 quality DEs and 2 quality DTs so I would have though 3-4 would have been better.
We gave up 98 points in the 4 games with the 3-4, 144 in the 12 games with the 4-3. Lewinsky had a remarkable postseason, in the Conference Final and Super Bowl he combined for 18 catches, 289 yards and 2 TDs. He is a great big play receiver. I wasn't sold on McKnight before, I am now. |

A LOT of good decisions. Everything broke right. How sweet it is...
I would love to have seen the voting for MVP..DA must have been #2...edged out by his backfield mate. In over 1500 seasons of FOF2 I think I've gone over 600 points about three times. Watch Royal string together another undefeated, and then watch me go 9-7...bring it on... |

AWESOME SEASON ROYAL !!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS on the first 19-0 season in Browns history !!!!! whaooo RB Ainsworth was magnificient... and Sammie has earned a 2nd straight NFL MVP award as well as a 3rd All-League 1st team QB honor in 4 years. Lewinsky is the deal too. so bad he only played in 11 games. with McNight, Ainsworth and Lewinsky we now have the equivalent of the cowboys trio of the early '90s with Aikman, Smith and Irvin. Now what's gonna happen with borders and Beyer then ? I'm happy to celebrate Royal's 1st SuperBowl title which is -btw- our 3rd in 4 years (isn't Sammie McNight is future Hall of Famer ? ). GO BROWNS !!!!

btw, McNight has now led the league in TD passes in each of his 4 seasons as the Browns starting QB...
Here is Sammie's resume so far : 2028 : SuperBowl Champion ; SuperBowl MVP ; All-League 1st Team QB ; led NFL in TD passes 2029 : led NFL in TD passes 2030 : SuperBowl Champion ; NFL MVP ; All-League 1st team QB ; led NFL in TD passes 2031 : SuperBowl Champion ; NFL MVP ; All-League 1st team QB ; led NFL in TD Passes and Rating (104,2) Obviously, Blaine Davies will someday have HOF company

I'd love to take the credit but I simply drafted Ainsworth, set the game plan(albeit defensively wrong for 4 games) and let them play.
The team is to the point of near auto pilot. We took a couple close scares in the post season but I honestly wasn't worried of losing all season, except to Miami is week sixteen and them having an oppurtunity to ruin our perfect season. And please, Darkiller, don't compare us to the Cowboys, despite the early rumors of Ainsworth having a drug problem, these boys are clean. |

Interesting factoid:
1999: Blaine Davies is a rookie for the Browns 4 years later, 2002: Donnie Sheen is a rookie for the Browns 2028: Sammie McKnight is a rookie for the Browns 4 years later, 2031: Derek Ainsworth is a rookie for the Browns McKnight and Ainsworth are off to faster starts than even Davies and Sheen did. Things are looking good in Cleveland! [This message has been edited by TheRoyalOne (edited 02-05-2001).] |

Well actually Sammie had been in the league for already 2 years as he earned the starting job in his 3rd season...
but yes he was a "rookie" starter in 2028 though we know it takes a couple years (at least) for a stud to fullfill his potential which could "explain" his fast start compared to Blaine... We know Sammie is a great great player now, he's answered them all. now I can't wait to see how Ainsworth will fare in his second season...

2031 Herb Review
100 100 100 73 97 Same as Last year Nate Borders retired after 10 seasons, 9 with the Browns. His career was dessimated by injuries and a battle with Casey Beyer. He stayed around though to show Derek Ainsworth the ropes. We let Erik Johann go upstairs after 30 seasons as Browns head scout, 409-188, 28 playoffs appearances, 8 Bowls. He makes room for former Patriot scout, Cornell Ziemak, 46 years old with Very Good ratings in all categories. We have a slew of Free Agents this year: LB Gary Sapp DT Brendan Swift LB OJ Briggs CB Barry Peterman OT John Barber QB Leo James Barber gets the Tag due to his younger age and lower loyalty, I almost tagged Swift though. We trade away WRs Turnbull and Ackerman and obtain a 1st(26) and a 4th for them respectively We have 91 million dollars of cap space to sign our free agents with. We also pursue 6th year Safety Clay Banks of the Giants, 98,97,89,x,x96 ratings and seeking 9mill a year. I sign everyone but Leo James [This message has been edited by TheRoyalOne (edited 02-07-2001).] |

Royal, I'm interested in knowing where QB Leo James ended after Free Agency ?
I drafted him a 4 years ago to be Sammie's backup. He didn't play much obviously but i'm curious to see which team got him and for how much ... Goof luck . GO BROWNS !!!

To Erik! What a career he had with us. His record is detailed on the front page of the VC II web site. I feel we need to do something to remember him - I might add him to the list of key players or name a section of the site after him...hmmmm.

I'll look up where Leo went later tonight Darkiller. I wanted to keep him, I know he was asking for around 6-7 mill at the start of Free Agency but I wanted to be sure I signed the starters first. I never even got a notice someone was bidding on him, he must have signed immediately so I don't know off hand where he went. He was very talented, backup QB is now really our main need in the draft.
Erik Johann could have stayed in scouting a little longer, still Good most everywhere, but I felt he worked long enough and I wanted to get this new "kid". Johann had a tremendous eye for talent and has a couple more future Hall of Famers on the team right now. |

Subby, i think you're right we should do something for Johann on the site...
maybe name an award after him ? how about all of us voting after each season for the team's MVP ? Id love that what do you guys think ? he would receive the "Erik Johann Award" given annually to the best player on the team. [This message has been edited by Darkiller (edited 02-07-2001).]

While a great idea, that is just too much work )
I want to come up with something that only needs to be done once...so that it can exist in perpetuity.

More simply, the team's GM for that year can name the winner of the Erik Johann award and include it with year end stats and awards. When the keepers retire we just have to add up how many times they were given it and put it on their awards list.
That would be much simpler and still give remembrence to the great Johann. |

I like the idea. When we have someone worth naming it for, a most-improved and/or comeback player award could be added.

Honestly i'd love that...
but I understand it might be too much work for Subby to create a special page for all these kind of awards. Maybe we could find a way to give Sub some relief on the site and help him in some ways so that we can integrate the "Erik Johann Award"

2032 Amateur Draft, the first without Erik Johann.
Trade QB Shannon Shaw and LB Hunter Davidson to SF for 1st(7), 2nd(7) and 2033 1st. RD 1(7) QB Antione Parrish 5'11" 207 Baylor, This kid will fetch 2 or 3 1st rounders when his contract is over and will be a great backup until then. RD 1(10) OT Gilbert Reedy 6'3" 333 Pennsylvania, A Monster, plain and simple. RD 1(26) OT Nuclear Nick Bradford 6'9" 328, Maryland, as much about the name as the player. He's a little light in pass blocking but his run blocking is truly "explosive" RD 2(3) CB Steven Blair 5'10" 189 Kansas, BPA with potentials of 100/95/100/x/x/100 will soon be a starter. RD 2(4) WR Seth Thomason 5'10" 204 Iowa, Great possesion receiver, will be our 4th option. RD 2(36) QB Lance Foley 6'2" 203 Iowa, Thomason recommended his old QB and we needed a 3rd one, so there ya go RD 4(10) K Drake Royal 6' 200 Ohio State Sure he won't ever play for us, but how could I pass him up? The rest of the picks and our 2033 1st rounder are packaged for Detroits first rounder next year(#2 overall this year). Trade OT John Barber to Chicago for 2033 2nd and the best FB in the league, 3rd year man Richard Hartman(nearly maxed out, catching 95, carrying 94 only exceptions) Here is the roster: Front Office Football from Solecismic Software Go Browns! |

A great meat-and-potatoes draft, picking up three studs at OT, CB, and FB. This is the way dynasties are built, combining skimming the draft cream with filling in the FA cracks. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of this Ferrari.

Hey - no problem here with doing an Erik Johan Team MVP page - its just up to the GM to pick the guy each year.
How about that coach of our? 4 for 4 in the big game and a regular season winning percentage over 800! The site is updated, BTW...

That looks to be a very interesting draft Royal..I like that OT a lot.
Good luck for the season ! Subby, if you can manage an "Erik Johann Team's MVP page" no prob for the GM to pick the most deserving player on the team of course. I think that would be a great addition to the Village Challenge II, I think.
