Post Village Challenge II - Season 2019 and beyond

Village Challenge II

Season 2019

For 2018 :
Team Performance : 90/100
Franchise Value : 85/100
Profit Loss : 67/100
Difficulty : 74/100

YEAR END SCORE : 79

Please welcome the following players for induction
into the Hall of Fame this season:
Bert Chandler
Al Beaudoin
T.J. Hanson

and Please welcome for induction into the Cleveland team Hall of Fame this year:
Legendary QB Blaine Davies #13.

Blaine is the 4th player to be inducted in the Browns HOF after Sheen, Mudgett and Wallace (all in 2016). He is still currently the most prolific passer in league history with over 59,000 yards passing and 397 TDs.
Blaine Davies is a lock for the NFL Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible in two years.

Five players retired this year : DE Matt Champion and Christian Ferderer as well as G Bob Sinclair, T Buddy Blaise and LB Dixon Salisbury.

Champion and Ferderer both have had great careers with us and should make the team's HOF in 3 years.

S Trevor Foster is the Franchise player. He was All-League 2nd team Safety last year and is without a doubt the leader of our secondary.
We are $40,000,000 under the cap with 40 players signed on the roster.

The Stadium issue has been killing us in terms of profit. I decide it is time to try something and we go on proposing the Cleveland citizens a plan for renovation of Browns Stadium.
Capacity (current 70,300 --- planned 99,900)
Club Seats (current 8,000 --- planned 10,900)
Luxury Boxes (current 116 --- planned 159)

The expected cost of the renovation is $314,000,000 (team contribution $75,000,000 --- Public contribution $239,000,000).
Currently the public support is excellent so the time might be good. Anyways it's worth trying since we badly need an upgrade to make more profit in the upcoming years. The results will be known AFTER April's Draft.

TRADES
The San Francisco 49ers propose their 2nd round pick (6th) for G Norbert Page.
The Miami Dolphins are willing to give their 1st rounder (15th) + G Troy Grier for DT Philip Hamilton.
The Denver Broncos ask for DE Sedrick Copeland and propose to trade their n°1 pick (11th) + RB Alex Gonzalez.
All trades are refused.

We have been able to resign almost all of our FA players.

Now going into the NFL Draft we own 3 1st rounders (the 1st overall pick as well as the 9th and 23rd. We may trade down depending on th available players)

The Browns are currently "worth" $1,358,800,000 (4th NFL)
Stadium (48)
Roster (100)
Support (97)
Economy (51)

Amateur Draft Report:

Rnd 1 - Ben Vanderclute, G, Montana 45/100 38/95 100
Rnd 1 - Jumbo Bell, CB, UNLV 40/99 39/87 90
Rnd 1 - Kenneth Woods, QB, Illinois (should be a solid backup to Clark)
Rnd 2 - Stephen Peters, CB, Purdue
Rnd 3 - Howie Hitchcock, T, Mississippi
Rnd 3 - Damon Biccum, LB, The Citadel
Rnd 5 - Dwight Meadows, DE, Indiana
Rnd 6 - Brandon Middleton, WR, Louisiana State
Rnd 7 - Bobby Roaf, P, Purdue

No a lot of great players available in the draft but I decided that time to use all of our picks to choose players and fill our roster. Not all should make the final roster but with 9 players selected, we have nothing but the choice.
Vanderclute is a great prospect though, a can't miss at Guard.
In any other draft, he might not be a n°1 overall pick but this year, with the low talent available he was clearly the top choice.

The proposal for stadium renovation was submitted to the voters of the county for a decision.
The issue succeeded, and construction is
scheduled to begin in 2022!

Here's the final vote tally:

In Favor: 568,262 - 62.9%
Rejected: 335,228 - 37.0%

We will then have a renovated Browns stadium, being able to host more fans and make more moeny. That should ultimately improve our year-end scores.

We sells 69,500 season tickets for the season out of a capacity of 70,300.

Now thanks to the approved renovated Browns stadium, we are the wealthiest NFL franchise at $1,477,300,000. We are $15,500,000 under the cap entering the preseason.
We Still have 3 TEs on the roster which is unusual for me. The 3rd TE (Gilbert Rubisch) is inactive ans should be the player to be released if we need to sign an emergency player.

Pre-season :

The first game is a 12-24 loss at the hands of the Bucs where backup rookie QB Woods throws 4 Interceptions. We have no depth behind Clark and this is risky.
Woods is listed by our scout with a potential at 72 which would be excellent behind Lee Clark ; But we clearly need an experienced backup for this season.
Therefore we release 3rs string QB (2nd year pro) Leslie Davidson and sign veteran QB Bill Peterson (9 year vet - former 1st round pick and a starter the last two seasons with the New England Patriots) ; his has excellent ratings (82 current - 92 estimate).

F Mel Chin injures his knee in the 3rd game (Arthroscopic Knee Surgery) and won't be back until 2-3 Months. We sign and extra FB and place Chin as inactive. To make move on the roster, we wave 3rd srting TE Rubisch.

We finish the pre-season 1-3 although our last two games were much better, statistically speaking.
Backup QB Peterson had some problems adjusting to our passing schemes but had a fine game in the pre-season finale which gives up hope that we are fully set at the QB position, ready to take on the regular season schedule with starter Clark and backup Peterson being ready in case something happens.

other injured players :
Freddie Kobeski, LB - Broken Nose, full strength in 0-2 Weeks
Jimmie Willis, DE - Sprained Neck, full strength in 3-5 Weeks
Sedrick Copeland, DE - Hyperextended Knee, full strength in 3-5 Weeks

We have a tough season ahead of us but having been to the conference Championship game the past two seasons, and with a roster filled with with experienced players, we feel we have a chance to do something this year.
Hopefully we won't have too many injuries.
The goal is to win the SuperBowl since we haven't done it in 8 years. We need a strong start to give us confidance and the opener should be an interesting measuring stick with us playing host to the (obviously) much improved Bengals - last in the division last year at 5-11 - but 4-0 this in the pre-season this year.

Roster Cohesion :

passing (75)
Off Line (81)
Deff front (82)
secondary (79)

Regular Season 2019 to follow later today

Great stuff.

Too bad Ferderer retired. He was a strong contributor over a long period.

Can't believe you signed the former starting QB from our archrival Patriots ! I live outside Boston, and have to watch the clowns weekly, and it is not a pretty sight. Well, maybe he brought a copy of their playbook...

The new guard sounds great. What kind of contract did he sign ?

Thumbs down

Doh! We were trying to hold out 'til 2020 for the new stadium, to get the VR Boxes. We had a discussion about it 4 seasons ago when our original contract was up

Oh well, It's not to big a deal, just a shame we are just 1 year too soon.

Remember to keep a few scrubs under contract going into next year to make available for the expansion draft.

Village Challenge II

Regular Season 2019

W1 Browns Vs Bengals -7pt fav : W 31-13
Thanks to Lee Clark's 3 TD passes in the first half, we talk an early 28-7 lead at half time and already the game seems out of reach for the Bengals.
the teams is poised and plays some great ball on both sides. Also, both the running game and the passing game are efficient and we take home our first win of the year in convincing fashion. A good start.
Clark 15/28 221yads 3 TDs 0 INT
Rodriguez 26 for 103 yards 1 TD
Jeffries 8 catches for 114 yards 1 TD
Mathews, Storey and Peters each had an interception.
Kirk had 1.5 sacks.

A lot of injuries though, most notably this one :
Alvin Wheeler, LB - Sprained Back, full strength in 2-3 Months
That's bad...we'll have to deal with it.

W2 Browns (1-0) Vs Jaguars (0-1) -6pt fav : W 26-13
another good game for us. Once again we take an early lead (19-7 at the half) and capitalize on it (26-7 after 3 quarters).
RB Rico Rodriguez is knocked out early and did not return, Stone took over and did some fine things.
Clark 23/42 295yards 2TDs 1INT
Stone 19 for 64 yards
Porter 9 catches for 95 yards 1 TD
On defense Storey had an interception (two games in a row) and Hamilton had 2 sacks.

W3 Browns (2-0) Vs Ravens (1-1) -6pt fav : W 24-13
For the third straight week, we are outscored exactly the same number of points (13). The defense plays great football despite Wheeler's being out.
Ravens QB Jessie "u know who" Sieh goes 9/11 before being knocked out with a concussion. The game then slips away for Baltimore and it helps us finish those first three (home) games with three wins. This is the good start that I had hoped, now comes the first game out of town...against perennial nemesis New England Patriots !
Clark 20/38 305yards 2 TDs 2 INTs
Rodriguez 18 for 82 yards 1 TD
Porter 7 catches for 101 yards
On defense Willis had 3 sacks !

W4 Browns (3-0) @ Patriots (1-2) -1pt fav : W 44-0 (!!!!!!!!!!) Whao !
Huge.
isn't that Revenge or what ???
On a Monday night in late september, the two winningest teams in NFL history meet for what ABC calls "the can't miss game of the year".
We come out of that first road game with perhaps the biggest win in franchise history.
44-0 Vs the Patriots IN New England.
Clark 22/36 281yards 2 TDs 2 INTs
Rodriguez 17 for 93 yards 2 TDs
Porter 6 catches for 87 yards
Foster had 2 interceptions and Meadows and Kirk each had a sack.

At this point we are just one of the teams (the other being Seattle) undefeated.
We own a 1 game lead in the AFC Central over the Tennessee Titans (3-1)

Backup FB Mel Chin and starting LB Alvin Wheeler should be in full strength in 3-5 Weeks. Another good news to an already exceptionnal week.
Whatever happens next, at least we annihilated the Patriots

W5 Browns (4-0) Vs Vikings (2-2) -10pt fav : L 14-24
Down 7-14 at the half the team is not as poised as usual. The result is a lot of bad plays and mistakes. QB Lee Clark takes the blame for his interceptions that prevented us from rallying late in the 4th quarter.
The defense was solid but those too many mistakes on offense really killed us. I'm disapointend we dropped a home game but we now have a bye week and hopefully we'll take advantage of it to rebound for the next game.
Clark 13/24 157 yards 1 TD 3 INTs
Rodriguez 18 for 82 yards 1 TD
Pearson 2 catches (led team !) 30 yards
Duncan, Kirk and Willis each had a sack

Starting T Scott Fleming has a dislocated knee (full strength in 2-3 Months)

W6 Browns (4-1) @ Steelers (3-3) -5pt underdog : W 23-16
Not a high scoring game for the Browns once again, but another stong performance from our defense which held the opponent to less than 20 pts for the 5th time in 6 weeks.
Somehow we don't seem to have enough burst on offense to light up the scoreboard so we rely heavily on defense. it works for now.
Clark 17/31 227 yards 1 TD 1 INT
Rodriguez 16 for 58 yards
Porter 6 catches for 75 yards
Dunkelberger intercepted one pass and returned it for a 28 yard score.
Kirk and Copeland both had 1 sack

WR Desmond Cole has a Sprained Back, full strength in 2-3 Months
LB Wheeler is now listed as probable and will start next sunday against NFC Central leaders Tampa Bay. Wheeler has not played since the season opener.
We are tied with the Titans (5-1) in 1st place in the division.

W7 Browns (5-1) Vs Bucanneers (5-2) -4pt fav : W 14-12
ugly win.
The score is 7-6 for us at the start of the 4th quarter and both defenses held on strong. Somehow we found a way to win that game thanks to Clark's two touchdown passes (including one at the beginning of the 4th quarter) and a great effort from the defense which stopped a two point conversion that would have tied the score at 14, late in the game.
the win, though unpretty, is somehow deserved.
Clark 18/32 233 yards 2 TDs 0 INT
Rodriguez 18 for 45 yards (2nd straight subpar game.)
Jeffries 5 catches for 69 yards
On defense DE Willis had 4 sacks !

To close the first half of the year, we play host to the Titans, who just lost this weekend (16-22 at minnesota) to take a two game lead in the AFC Central race.
This will be our 6th home game in 8 weeks.

W8 Browns (6-1) Vs Titans (5-2) -6pt fav : W 28-13
The Titans shut us out in the first half to take a 10-0 lead because once again our defense hold strong. These guys are impressive, and might simply have the best defensive unit in all of pro football.
But the offense also knows how to play some football and comes up big in the second half thanks to Lee Clark's 3 TDs passes in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
This win is a very important one for us since we know own a 2 1/2 point lead over second place Tenessee (5-3) in the division.

Unfortunately, those two injuries are heavy to our squad :
Stanley Hamilton, T - Broken Ankle, full strength in 2020 (we place him on Injured Reserve.)
Sedrick Copeland, DE - Sprained Back, full strength in 2-3 Months

Mid season report :
We own a great 7-1 record, good for 1st place AFC Central (and tied with the Seahawks and Giants for best record in the NFL).
on offense : 204 points scored (4th highest total in the NFL). tough to believe but our score has been boosted thanks to the 44-0 demolishion of the Patriots.
On defense : 104 points outscored (3rd best NFL).

QB Lee Clark has 1963 yards 16 TDs and 11 INts (81,6 rating 15th NFL)
RB Rico Rodriguez has 529 yards (16th NFL) on 131 carries (4.0/c) and 6 TDs (tied 5th)
WR Burt Porter leads the team in receiving with 39 catches (17th NFL) for 537 yards (15th NFL) and 3 TDs.
DE Jimmy Willis has 8.0 sacks (tied 4th NFL)
Trevor Foster leads the team with 3 interceptions.
Lenny Spano leads the team with 43 tackles.

2nd half to come later one today...

Fantastic win over the hated Pats !

Even better, we concussed Jesse "Abbe" Sieh, the traitorous lout !

This feels like a truly Homeric season so far. Getting 18 back will help a lot, unless his injury limits his ability.

First, I would like to say thank you to Christian Ferderer and Matt Champion for an incredible run. They combined for 12 FOF Bowls and 8 rings, and should be locks for the HOF. Ferderer is the team leader in career ints and played the CB position for 14 years!

Anyway, Champion was my keeper, so I have to name someone else - I brought the following guys on board during the past two year: WR Burt Porter, WR Sedrick Cole, TE Bruce Pearson, C Darren Small, G Duane Hansen, DE Clifton Duncan, LB Lenny Spano, LB Seth Gordon. Hmmmmm. It would be cool if we could one D and one O keeper each.

Looks like our depth is gonna save us - lets try and get our cohesion in the nineties across the board...

The 2nd half of the year

W9 Browns (7-1) @ Lions (2-6) -6pt fav : W 16-13
field goals, field goals and field goals all over the place.
Except from an early 13 yard TD pass from Clark to Manusky, that's what this game has been all about.
Not much to cheer about except the facts that once again the defense was there and that, obviously, we won another tough game..on the road. We seem to play like this year's Titans (in real NFL) : very solid on defense, low scores, always at the limit...but just like them : we win ball games.
Clark 22/43 335 yards (season high) 1 TD 3 INTs
Rodriguez 31 for 114 yards (at last another good game )
Porter 6 catches for 94 yards
Willis had 1 sack for the defense but again no interception.

the secondary bothers me a little in that area but there's nothing we can really say against them since they are almost never caught for big yardage...The thing is, it seems like opposite QBs now aware of the great defense we have, don't take too much chances downfield and prefer to settle for short gains.

W10 Browns (8-1) @ Steelers (3-6) -7pt fav : W 19-13 OT
Our first overtime of the year.
The Steelers take a 13-0 lead at the half and we have to rally in the next two quarters with 3 FG to send the game in overtime. Then : THE BIG PLAY.
The coach had talked last week about the lack of big plays (interceptions) by the secondary and our guys listened to him.
In overtime, with the Steelers on the clock, driving to score the winning points, S Trevor Foster comes out with an 83 yard Interception returned for the game winning TD !!!
Whaooo man oh man...
The ball on our own 17yards and we already think the game is lost, but the Steelers go for the pass and BOUM ! intercepted...and he could go..all...the...way...FOR A BROWNS TD in OT !

this great play gives us our 9th win of the year (9 wins in 10 games !) securing another winning season.
We know go play to the worst team in the league, cincinnati (1-9), a team we though was on the rise after a great pre-season. We beat the Bengals 31-13 in the season opener.

W11 Brown (9-1) @ Bengals (1-9) -11pt fav : W 31-17
a great offensive show for once and the satisfaction to score more than 20 points !
Of course these are the Bengals, but still, we're 10-1 (best record in the league) and now, thanks to losses from Tenessee and Jacksonville, we own a 3 1/2 point lead over them in the division with 5 games to play. The playoffs are now in reach...
The thing is, as crazy as it seems, we almost lost the game.
Down 3-17 at the beginning of the 4th quarter we weren't too proud of ourselves. But we had a magical 4th quarter, scoring 28 answered points to come out a winner.
Clark 15/27 218 yards 1 TD 0 INT
Rodriguez 11 for 100 yards 2 TDs
Porter 5 catches for 90 yards 1 TD
Whiting had an interception
Willis had 2.5 sacks and Kirk had 2 sacks

We welcome back backup FB Mel Chin in the lineup.

W12 Browns (10-1) @ Ravens (5-6) -4pt fav : L 24-27
too late...
a late TD pass from Lee Clark to Desmond Cole, converted for two points wasn't enough to overcome the deficit and get the game back on track.
We lose that one, only our second of the year, but the good news is that -again- Jaguars and Titans lost this Weekend.
Clark 15/29 261 yards 2 TDs 1 INT
Rodriguez 20 for 82 yards
Pearson 4 catches for 51 yards 1 TD
Cole 3 catches for 108 yards (!) 1 TD
Hamilton had two sacks and Duncan had 1.

We go play the Tennessee Titans with at stake the AFC Central Title for us. A win over them (2nd of the year) would give a 4 game lead with just 3 games left to play after that.

W13 Browns (10-2) @ Titans (7-5) -3pt fav : W 23-20
Down 10-20 after the 3rd quarter, we still think we can win that one. We have proven all through the season that we knew how to overcome late deficits and pull the win. This game was no different as the Browns rallied in the 4th quarter and
score 13 points including an 11 yard TD pass from Clark to Porter with 8 minutes left in the game.
The defense was its usuel self, preventing the opposite offense from long gains.
This wins (along with yet another Jaguars loss this weekend) gives us the division. we are the first team to clinch a Playoff berth in the NFL this year.
Clark 12/35 199yards 1 TD 1 INT
Rodriguez 13 for 49 yards 1 TD
Jeffries 5 catches for 79 yards
Whiting had an interception
Hamilton had 2 sacks and Willis one.

Most of our injured players seem to heal well. Hopefully we will be in good health-shape come january.

W14 Browns (11-2) @ Broncos (3-10) -3pt fav : W 31-28 OT
Another 3 pt win...this time against one of the worst teams in the league (one of only four teams that were already eliminated from Playoff contention before the WE).
We take a 14-0 half time lead playing some good football before something unusual happens : the defense plays less tigh and leaves opportunities to the Broncos.
Denver QB Nate Cole then throws two 4th quarter TD passes and the game is sent in overtime.
This is when our 19 year veteran Kicker Burt Milne wins the game for us with a huge 50 yarder !
Clark 19/29 yards 3 TDs 1 INT
Rodriguez 22 for 115 yards
Pearson 5 catches for 69 yards 1 T
Not the greatest game for the defense which comes up with only one big play (a sack from Kirk)

FB Lee Clarence is questionnable and will be rested for this game.
We have clinched a first round playoff bye.
We decide to rest some veteran starters. No need to risk injuries, we have nothing but one goal : to go and win another SuperBowl so we will need those guys in the postseason.
For example, starting G Norbert Page is placed on the inactive list to rest himself and make room to #1 overall pick G Ben Vanderclute who mill make his first NFL start this weekend against Oakland.

W15 Browns (12-2) Vs Raiders (9-5) -6pt fav : W 23-10
10-10 at halftime then as usual we burst in the second period and win this game quite easily.
With many starters left to rest, the team responded pretty well and we are encouraged by the play of some of our youngsters. On defense, we stopped the Raiders' rushing game big time, this is what set up the win today.
Clark 19/33 215 yards 2 TDs 1 INT
Rodriguez 19 for 61 yards
Cole 5 catches for 70 yards 1 TD
Mathews and Whiting each had an interception
Kirk had 1.5 sacks and Edings had a QB sack as well

unfortunately for us :
DE Sedrick Copeland breaks his Ankle, full strength in 2020. He played in just 4 games this year and was making his comeback this WE, only to break something and be lost for the year. too bad.
Copeland is placed on inured reserve and we sign FA DE Kelly holmes.

W16 Browns (13-2) @ Jaguars (8-7) -5pt fav : W 23-21
A wild first half (with Jacksonville leading 21-17) and only 6pts scored in the second half, two FG for us that give us the edge. The play of the game was
a 37 yard interception returned for a TD by S Dunkelberger with 3 seconds left in the first half.
Else than that, the Jaguars knew they were already eliminated and didn't force any issue.
This wins gives us an NFL best 14-2 record (2nd year in a row that we have the league's best record) and Homefield advantage throughout the Playoffs.
Clark 12/26 156 Yards 0 TD 0 INT
Rodriguez 22 for 61 yards
Porter 2 catches for 32 yards (!)
Dunkelberger had 2 interceptions with 1 returned for TD (NFL Defensive player of the week)
Willis had 2 sacks.

Before the playoffs we renegociate a few contracts including Lee Clark's giving him a two year extension (signed through 2021).

PLAYOFFS

AFC/NFC Wild Card Games

Milwaukee (8-7-1) @ Buffalo (9-6-1) : 7-20
Green Bay (9-7) @ Washington (10-5-1) : 10-30
New Orleans (9-7) @ Houston (10-6) : 9-34
Oakland (10-6) @ San Diego (11-5) : 24-17

AFC/NFC Divisional Playoffs :

Bills (10-6-1) @ Seahawks (12-4) : 19-42
Redskins (11-5-1) @ Giants (13-3) : 34-21
Texans (11-6) @ Buccaneers (11-5) : 14-36

AFC Divisional Playoff : Browns (14-2) Vs Raiders (11-6) -10pt fav : W 34-10
The first play of the game gives the tone, Safety Trevor Foster intercepts the Raiders QB and runs it back 26 yards for the score.
Then the game seems to struggle a little but Kicker Burt Milne is still very much in the zone and kicks a bunch of FG that put the game out of reach for the Raiders.
Actually, Milne scored on 6 Field Goals, which I think is not far from an NFL Post-Season record.
On offense, we didn't do much, our running game being totally sound. We relied on the passing game to set up the FGs.
That wasn't too pretty -as much of our season has been actually- but we won and we reach the AFC Championship game for a third straight year.
Clark 16/27 254 yards 1 TD 0 INT
Rodriguez 21 for 39 yards
Porter 6 catches for 91 yards
Foster had an interception returned for a TD and Hamilton had 2 sacks

No major injuries so far (except the one we already had), we WANT to go to that SuperBowl BADLY !

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES :
NFC Title Game : Redskins (126-5-1) @ Bucs (12-5) : 27-31

AFC Title Game : Cleveland Browns (15-2) Vs Seattle seahawks (13-4) -3pt fav : W 27-19
The Cleveland Browns will return to the SuperBowl !!!!
This game was special as it took quite a long time to get rid of the Seahawks. We were down by 3 at the beginning of the fourth quarter and though we weren't panicking, we knew it would be tough.
But this season is everything but "normal" and -more importantly- we know how to play in the final quarter when teams get tired.
This is when we play our best football and usually overcome anything.
In the championship game, the running game wasn't there since Rico got hurt early and did not return. Backup RB Stone took over and was ok but clearly, it is Clark who made the right plays
when it mattered the most, gaining important first downs and throwing TD passes.
Clark 20/33 236 yards 3 TDs 1 INT
Stone 13 for 38 yards
Porter 8 catches for 115 yards and 2 TDs
Foster had one interception

SUPERBOWL
AFC Champions Cleveland Browns (16-2) Vs NFC Champions Tampa Bay Bucanneers (13-5) -8pt fav : L 16-38
A huge disapointement.
This was not the Browns team that we've been used to seing all year long.
We were never up in that game always trailing...But this time there would be no 4th quarter glory or anything else; instead, errors and mistakes from our players.
Lee Clark throwing a costly intecption, RB Stone fumbling the football etc...
That SuperBowl was a pain to watch as we were heavy favourites and clearly felt we were the best team.
Clark 12/26 221 yards 0 TD 1 INT
Rodriguez 7 for 35yards (injured)
Stone 9 for 25 yards
Porter 5 catches for 103 yards
Dunkelberger had an interception
Hamilton had a sack.

End of the year recap :
No player had any individual honor.
QB Lee Clark 282/522 (54%) 3863 yards (1st) 26 TDs (3rd) 18 INTs rating 80,2 (18th NFL)
RB Rico Rodriguez 284 carries for 1187 yards (10th NFL) 4.1/c 9 TDs
WR Bud Porter 72 catches (15th) for 1044 yards (11th) 6 TDs
DE Jimmy Willis 16.0 sacks (!) tied for 3rd NFL (!)
DT Louis Kirk 12.0 sacks (12th NFL)
LB freddie Kobeski led team with 74 tackles
S Trevor Foster led team with 4 interceptions

Offense :
Rushing 111,3 yards per g (21st NFL)
Passing 242,3 yards per g (3rd NFL)

Defense :
Rushing 88,6 yards per g (10th NFL)
Passing 194,5 yards per g (11th NFL)

Season 2019 is over with the Browns going back to the Super Bowl as AFC Champions.
A good season though despite the final loss.
We will definitely try to go back to the big game next year, this time to win another World Championsip.

Great season! I think one more year of cohesion under our belts will make all the difference...I like how great our record was in close games.

If we can bring all the starters back, I think we will be in great shape. Clark should be maxed out by this season.

Is this the first season without any individual honors?

Good luck in 2019!

Hum...it migh very well be.
Clearly, 2019 was a "team-first" year where everyone rallied together to win those close games.

We weren't flashy -except that Patriots game which will become an all-timer I'm sure...- but we were solid.
It's good to be back in the SuperBowl but i'm not used to losing it so clearly, I know what I have to do for 2020.

Hopefully, we'll have a shot a it again.

Very solid season. Interesting to see that DT Louis "Captain" Kirk finally put up some noticeable numbers. He was drafted, you'll remember, ahead of Rico. He's been pretty quiet.

In the (non-VC) FOF2 career I'm playing now, I'm having a lot of seasons like this one: great talent, 13-15 wins in the regular season, surprising playoff loss, no real standouts because the roster is so balanced O and D that no one puts up league-leading totals.

Cohesion could improve, but I think our talent base is largely in place (could use some young backups to groom), and the league has settled into a parity decade. Just don't see the need for dramatic change - just perseverance.

Great season, with a tough ending.

I'm sad to see Jeffries not come through as much this year. What were his final numbers?

Over all, clearly a great year. I think we continue to under value Rico. Who knows how the game would have turned out with him not getting injured early in the Bowl game.

Good luck with 2020!!

Hey Darkiller...you are approaching two weeks with the Browns - if you don't think you can finish off 2020 before the end of this weekend, pass them on...

We need to keep it fresh

Agreed, If you haven't finished, please just send it on, and let the next player have a stab at it.

I realize that I took longer then a week on one of my turns, but I did ask the group's opinion, and I'm pretty sure I got it done before 2 weeks time.

I also realize that the Christmas-New Years week is coming up, and some people may not have a chance to work on it that week. So please ship it out as soon as possible, to give the next player a chance to get something done before then.

ok guys here is the update :

I'm approaching the end of my internship and I have a lot of work since i need to prove myself valuable before it ends.

+ my "family" situation is currently complicated and i'm not available during any evenings which means basically that I CAN'T CURRENTLY FIND ANYTIME to play FOF.

that bothers me very much and I realize you are bothered too.
I read the previous messages and realized that so YES i can send the folder to Royal NOW (which is season 2020).

i'm by no means OUT of the Village Challenge II.
i want this to be clear.
but it is the end of the year, with all that goes with it, and time is very very hard to find for me right now.
Also, i go in the south of France (Bordeaux) friday for 5 days for Christmas with the rest of the family so that would ad to the length of me having the file.

So as much as i'm bothered by my current situation there is nothing more that I can do currently.

I'll send the folder to Royal now, i've played just one season out of the two that i'm supposed to do.
We'll see later on when my turn comes back how I'll do (playing 3 seasons or the regular 2) since i believe in 2001 things will be settled for good as far as i'm concerned.

Once again, please accept my excuses for my being late like this but i hope you understand regarding my current situation.

So the Browns are coming of a SuperBowl berth and we ARE in good shape ready to claim back the throne.

GO BROWNS !!!

I decide to pick RB Rico Rodriguez as my keeper.

He's not a player I drafted (like my previous one Blaine Davies) but he's someone that i always felt good about and have always had confidence in him.

Plus since my next turn won't come until 2028, I'll then be able to have a keeper that i will have drafted since Rico will have surely retired by the time.

The players that i drafted prior to 2019 were players that we NEEDED but not superstars like the ones we use to select in our keeper mode.

So Rico is my current keeper.

Go Royal in 2020 !

Darkiller, don't worry about it, man.

I hate to say it, but real life sometimes must take first place.

Should Royal take two seasons in his turn ?
What do you all think ?

Royal should take 3 seasons this time and then take 1 season next time...that will keep everything even...
