Salary Request!!!!!!!!
I know this has been touched upon, but its really starting to piss me off, so I'll post some more bout it in hopes of a patch *cough cough EA*.
The start of my 3rd year in Denver. WR T. Mcgriff's contract is over. He's not very good (24 in catch, 34 in yards per catch, 32 in catch frequency, and 28 in 3rd down catching), but I wouldn't mind keeping him around to help out now and then. His stats are even worse (21 catches-none last year, 244 yards, 3 TD's). So whats he want? Two year deal, 1.5 million bonus, 4 million for the first year, and 5 million for the second. Excuss me? How can a player who never plays and isn't that good go from 5-600 thousand range to those figures? Happens with all my players, so every year I have to let a ton of em go (after trying forever to redo their contracts) and then go out a sign a bunch of new players. I don't even know why there is a league minuim salary, no one will ever take anything close to that low. Patch this sucker, damn EA. To add to my frustration, WR Rod Smith (59 in catching, 45 in yards per catch, 92 catch frequency, and 64 in 3rd down catching) is a 3 year starter and fan favorite has 264 catches for 3083 yards with 19 TD's wants a new two year contract with a 2.3 million signing bonus-2 million for the first year and 2.1 million for the second. Hmmm whats wrong with this picture. [This message has been edited by HuskerChaos (edited 12-20-2000).] |

this is warped... but just maybe your WR wants out of town since you don't really use him, and for him sitting on the bench would only be worth it for a big financial package...

I'd buy that..........CEPT I just finished that year and guess who is STILL sitting in the FA pool..........yup, you guessed it. Hehe. Some money is better then no money in my book-easy money at that. Oh well, he's toast now, no one will touch him. He still wants 2 million plus a year.

Yup, I have seen the same thing...
Most 3rd year players (cept K, P, and FB's) seem to get the "I am the coolest player in the world so pay me the big bucks" attitude. I had a self-defeating dynasty once that went in the mud after 12 years because salaries were out of control. The oddest thing about this all is exactly what is mentioned above. Free Agents don't seem to reduce asking price even though there are no bids on them and it is the last week of the free agency period... seems silly to me... I agree. Some money is better than no money! |

I have that problem too. My backup QBs want a butt load of money all the time. Matt Hasselback for the Pack wanted like 5 years 57 million. After FA when nobody wanted him he went down to 5 years 25 mil. I personally think WR and CB are the worst at this. No matter how bad they are they want a lot of money.
