FOF2004: The Return of America's Team II - Year 1
![]() Dallas, TX (AP) - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called a news conference at 10am this morning to annouce a change in the Cowboys organization. Jones has decided to relinguish GM duties. Jones was quick to hire someone to replace him, as he has decided to hire Justin Shipman. Shipman graduated from Pittsburg State University, a Division II college, in December 2000. For the last two years, he has worked with the Pitt State football program as a regional scout. "I very happy with Jerry's decision to hire me. It has long been a dream of mine to one day be the General Manager of my beloved Cowboys. I wish the best of luck to Coach Broyles and the Pitt State football program. Our first order of business is going to be for me and the coaching staff to evaluate our roster and the free agent market and try to see where we can improve this team." 2003 Dallas Cowboys Roster Code:

2003 Dallas Cowboys Roster Overview
Quarterback Our QB situation is horrible to say the least. We will start the season with Quincy Carter leading the offense. Carter hasn't shown any kind of improvement and is only a temporary starter. Chad Hutchinson will be his backup but don't be surprised if third-stringer Tony Romo takes that job away from Hutchinson. Romo looks to be a decent pickup but will probably only see limited action, unless he unseats Chad. Rating: F Running Backs A position with a big question mark surrounding it. With the departure of Emmitt Smith to our hated ex-rivals the Arizona Cardinals, we have a major void to fill at RB. Troy Hambrick will be the starter and see 90% of the carries. Hambrick will be a decent replacement to Smith but nothing special. Backing him up will be a couple undrafted free agents in Aveion Cason and Eric Bickerstaff. Cason is an a good breakaway runner with breakaway speed. Bickerstaff is just an average player. He will see limited time in mopup duty. At FB, Ritchie Anderson will be the starter. Anderson is a good blocker and he is great at catching the ball out of the backfield. He will be the primary 3rd down and short back. His backup will be Jamar Martin. Martin was drafted in the 4th round of the 2002 draft and might not make it through training camp. Rating: D Receivers We have two very good starting wideouts in Terry Glenn and Joey Galloway. Both are hugh playmakers and should help out the offense a lot. Galloway is signed through 2006, while Glenn is a free agent after the 2007 season. To help rest our top two, we have Antonio Bryant, Zuriel Smith, Reggie Swinton and Randal Williams. Bryant will be Galloway's backup and will provide us with a top flight third receiver. Smith will back up Bryant, while not a great receiver yet, he does have some big play ability. Not a big concern at this position but would like to maintain three big time receivers. Tightend is a position we are very excited about. Jason Witten will be the starter and could become a great tightend, maybe one day as good as Jay Novacek. Newly acquired ex-Giant Dan Campbell will be the his backup and should do a decent job. Behind them will be two other tightends. Jeff Robinson will probably see most of the time as 3rd TE and long snapper. James Whalen will be placed on the practice squad. Rating: C Offensive Linemen Flozell Adams will be starting at left tackle. Adams is a good average all-around tackle. His backup with be Kurt Vollers, who doesn't have much of an upside. At left guard will be Pro Bowler Larry Allen. Allen is a hoss and is signed through 2007, so until that time left guard isn't a problem. Backing him up will be 2nd year guy Tyson Walter. Again Walter doesn't have much staying potential. Starting a center will be Gennaro DiNapoli. DiNapoli has all the makings of a great starter but has some developing to do. Rookie Al Johnson will back him up and also has a great upside, in fact Johnson could become the starter if DiNapoli isn't resigned after the season. Second year player, Andre Gurode, will be the starter at right guard. He has some developing to do but should be a special player in the near future. His backup will be Matt Lehr, who could also become a decent lineman. Former Jet Ryan Young will man right tackle for now. Young is a below average tackle and Javiar Collins is young and has limited potential. Will will look to upgrade the offensive line in the offseason. Rating: D Defensive Linemen Our defensive line will look like this: LE Greg Ellis, LT Michael Myers, RT La'Roi Glover and RE Ebenezer Ekuban. Ellis and Glover are potential Pro Bowlers. While Glover is signed through 2006, Ellis is a free agent at the end of the season and will try to be resigned. Myers and Ekuban are the wildcards on the line. They have the talent but can they put it all together. The backups along the line will be: Daleroy Stewart, Willie Blade, Kenyon Coleman and Eric Ogbogu. In all our starters will be awesome but backups are a little suspect. Rating: B Linebackers A very strong position on our team. Our strong side linebacker will be off-season free agent pickup Al Singleton. Singleton is solid player but backup Markus Steele could improve and push Singleton to a backup role. The middle linebacker spot will go to Dat Nguyen. While Dat is signed through 2007, rookie backup Bradie James will make a push for playing time. Weak side LB will be Dexter Coakley. Coakley is nothing but consistent, constantly breaking 100 tackles every season. Rookie free agent Keith O'Neil will be his backup and see plenty of time on special teams. Rating: B Defensive Backs The part of my team that I am most excited about is the DB's. The deep part of the field is taken away because of the presence of starters: Roy Williams, Darren Woodson, Terrance Newman and Derek Ross. Newman, our 1st round draft choice from K-State, will be pitted against the leagues top receivers. And while he will get burned, we are excited about the future of this kid. Taking care of the other CB spot will be Derek Ross. While Ross is no Newman, he is certainly capable of shutting down a teams #2 receiver. Their are a handfull of backups: Pete Hunter, Jemeel Powell, Andrew Davison, Mario Edwards and Donald Mitchell. No team has harder hitting safties than we do. Roy Williams will start at free safety and is just a punishing hitter. D-Wood will start at strong safety and while his strengths are not what the used to be, he can still play with the best. Backing up Roy will be Lynn Scott. He is nothing great and might not make the team out of training camp. Tony Dixon will spell D-Wood. Dixon hasn't developed like the organization thought he would but should be a good backup and possibly take over for Woodson when he retires. Rating: A Specialists Toby Gowin will handle the punting duties, while Billy Cundiff handles the kicking. Gowin is very inconsistant which we cannot live with. Cundiff comes into camp having not improved over his rookie season and could be cut. We will have tryouts for both kicker and punter next week when we bring in some undrafted free agents. WR Joey Galloway will be handling all kickoff and punt returns for the time being. Rating: F Last edited by jshipman2 : 11-25-2003 at 08:07 AM. |

![]() ![]() 2003 Preseason Week 1: Bye Week 2: Dallas (0-0) @ Arizona (0-0) Line: Dallas by 2 Preview This will be the first meeting between these two teams since RB Emmitt Smith departed Dallas for Arizona. Our starters will see very little playing time in this game and we try to get a feel for our backups. QB Quincy Carter will play all of the first half and maybe the first series of the second half. He will then turn things over to QB Chad Hutchinson. Result The first half was pretty boring. We kept our second drive of the game going after a Roughing The Kicker call after an Arizona defender ran into P Oliver Maffett. RB Troy Hambrick would break off a 20-yd run down to the ARI27, but the drive would stall and we would settle for a K Billy Cundiff 24-yd FG. It would remain 3-0 until 2:49 left in the 2nd quarter when Carter would throw a pass that would be picked off by CB Jacoby Rhinehart and returned 52-yds to the DAL15. Our defense would do a great job of holding the Cardinals to just four yards and Arizona would settle for a 28-yd FG from K Bill Gramatica. Halftime score 3-3. We would start a drive with 9:39 left in the 3rd and looked as though we were going to go right down the field for a touchdown but with 6:21 left, Hutchinson threw an interception to CB Duane Starks. The Cardinals would then get a 52-yd TD pass from QB Josh McCown to WR Bryant Johnson and a 10-3 lead. We would respond at the start of the 4th with a 6 play, 45 yd drive that saw Hutchinson hit WR Joey Galloway for a 33-yd catch and the drive capped off by a RB Erik Bickerstaff 1-yd TD reception from Hutchinson, making the score 10-10. We would get the ball back with 2:16 left in the 4th but the drive would stall out. Arizona got the ball back with 0:24 left in regulation but rookie CB Terance Newman intercepted the first pass from McCown on the drive and returned it 7 yards to the ARI31. We ran one play, called timeout and brought in Cundiff for the game-winning 45-yd FG with 0:04 remaining. He missed it and the game went to OVERTIME!!! In overtime the Cardinals got the ball first and quickly were stopped by our D. We got the ball with 11:27 left in OT and put together a nice drive. Hutchinson hit FB Richie Anderson 3 times for 26 yards but then a HOLDING PENALTY backed us up before Hutchinson hit Galloway for 14-yds. But on 3rd&6 RB Aveion Cason could only manage a 4-yd run and we were forced to punt. Arizona again went 3 and out and we got the ball on the DAL41. Again, we start a drive that looks like we could get some points. Hutchinson hits WR Antonio Bryant for 13-yds, Hambrick picksup 12-yd on the ground and then Hutchinson hits Cason for 8 more but he fumbles and its recovered by S Dexter Jackson. Our defense forces yet another 3 and out and we take over with 3:19 left in the game. However, Hutchinson throws an interception to CB Michael Stone at the DAL34! But again the defense steps up and forces Arizona to attempt a 49-yd FG. Gramatica misses wide right! We would get the ball one last time with 0:53 left. The offense would pickup only 1-yd and would punt and take the tie. Game ends 10-10. Game MVP: DE Greg Ellis - 3 tackles, 2 sacks Key Stats We turned the ball over 4 times in the game which is unacceptable. The defense played well limiting Arizona to 318 total yards. They also had 5 sacks and 1 interception. RB Troy Hambrick carried the ball 14 times for 77 yards. QB Quincy Carter was 12-22 for 85 yards and 1 INT. QB Chad Hutchinson finished 20-30 for 138 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. FB Richie Anderson had 8 receptions for 50 yards, while WR Joey Galloway contributed 7 catches for 90 yards. We are really impressed with the upgrade at punter. Rookie P Oliver Maffett punted 11 times for 463 yards, an average of 42.0 and nailed 5 inside the 20. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Out (8 Weeks) CB Derek Ross: Sprained Knee - Questionable (3 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Preseason Week 3: Houston (1-0) @ Dallas (1-0) Line: Even Preview It should be interesting to see how the team responds to last weeks tie. Not a real confidence booster when you face the Arizona Cardinals and only manage ten points and a tie. However, our defense played inspired football which makes us optimistic about our season. Houston is an improved team but we should walk away with this one. Result We got off to an early lead late in the 1st quarter on a K Billy Cundiff 49-yd FG. The Texans would respond well with a drive at the beginning of the 2nd quarter that would end with a QB David Carr 11-yd TD pass to WR Corey Bradford. K Kris Brown missed the extra point and the score was 6-3. We came right back with a drive put together by QB Quincy Carter. We marched 74 yards over seven plays and Carter found RB Erik Bickerstaff for a 12-yd TD and a 10-6 lead. Again, Houston came right back as QB Tony Banks hit WR Andre Johnson for a 26-yd TD, making the halftime score 13-10. After a stern butt riping from Coach Norris, the team went wild in the second half. Houston would fumble the opening kickoff and it would be recovered by LB Markus Steele at the HOU19. QB Chad Hutchinson hit a few quick passes but the offense would stall and Cundiff would tie the game with a 20-yd FG. Texans offense then went to crap. First our defense make them go three and out. Hutchinson would run two plays, the second going for a 60-yd TD to WR Reggie Swinton. Trailing 20-13, Banks went to work. Short lived however, as LB Al Singleton intercepted a Banks pass at the DAL39 and returned it 18-yds. We couldn't do anything as we are forced to punt. With 4:44 left in the 3rd, the Texans next drive would be stopped with a S Tony Dixon interception at the HOU30 that would be returned for a 30-yd TD and a 27-13 lead. Again on the next drive, Banks would throw an interception to S Roy Williams at the HOU29. Bickerstaff would break off a 15-yd run and Hutchinson would hit WR Joey Galloway for a 9-yd reception down to the HOU5. RB Troy Hambrick would then take the ball and run behind the right tackle for a 5-yd TD. Houston would finally punt together a good drive with 7:31 remaining in the 4th but the "Unknown Bandits" would hold them to a 21-yd Brown FG but still trailed 34-16. S Darren Woodson would seal the game with a interception in the endzone with 0:31 left. We win this one 34-16. Game MVP: S Darren Woodson - 7 tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack, 1 INT Key Stats Our defense swarmed to the ball today. We gave up 406 total yards but had 4 sacks, 4 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. QB Quincy Carter played much better. He was 16-25 for 166 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. QB Chad Hutchinson was again better as he was 7-11 for 111 yards and 1 TD. FB Richie Anderson caught 7 passes for 67 yards. WR Joey Galloway also had 7 receptions for 76 yards. Rookie P Oliver Maffett again had a nice average of 45.1 and punt 2 inside the 20. K Billy Cundiff was 2/2 in FGs and 4/4 on PATs. Along with Woodson's nice game, S Tony Dixon had 7 tackles and 1 INT. DE Eric Ogbogu had 1.5 sacks. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Out (7 Weeks) CB Derek Ross: Sprained Knee - Questionable (3 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Strained Patellar Tendon - Questionable (1 Week) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Preseason Week 4: Dallas (2-0-1) @ Pittsburgh (1-1) Line: Pittsburg by 5 Preview Finally we get our first true test of the preseason. Pittsburgh is a great running team and also have very good wide receivers. If our defense plays as well as they did against the Texans, we will win this one easily. Result On our opening possession we go three and out and are forced to punt. Pittsburgh then takes the ball and quickly picks up 21 yards before QB Tommy Maddox throws an ill-advised pass that is picked off by S Tony Dixon and returned 35 yards to the PIT41. Two plays later QB Quincy Carter hits WR Terry Glenn for a 41-yd TD and a 7-0 lead. Pittsburgh would mount a drive before the end of the 1st down to the DAL12 but our defense would stop them. The Steelers would go for it on 4th & 2 and would again be stopped and we took over. A few minutes into the 2nd, Pittsburgh would get a 6-yd TD from Maddox to WR Plaxico Burress, keyed by a 50-yd run from RB Dante Brown. We would continue to not be able to put together any offense. With 4:05 left in the 2nd, Maddux would fumble on the PIT39 and it would be recovered by LB Al Singleton. Carter would then connect with WR Reggie Swinton for 18-yds, Glenn for 11 and then a 12-yd TD to Glenn. We go to the locker room up 14-7. Both offenses would continue to falter until Carter finally put together a nice drive for us with 3:58 left in the 3rd. Carter would hit FB Richie Anderson with :19 left for 2-yds and a 21-7 lead. Halfway through the 4th, the Steelers would put together a scoring drive, thanks to a 36-yd run from RB Jerome Bettis and a 15-yd TD run from Bettis. Pittsburgh would get the ball one last time with 2:35 left on the clock. They would drive to the DAL23 and would be forced to go for it with 1:13 left. Again the "Unknown Bandits" come up with a big stop and Carter kneels on it for a 21-14 victory. After the game we learned that LT Flozell Adams will miss the rest of the season with a torn lateral knee ligament. Rookie Al Johnson will take his place and the team will look at free agents for a backup to Johnson. Game MVP: QB Quincy Carter - 23/36, 221 yards, 3 TDs Key Stats Our running game looked horrible in this one, gaining just 42 yards on the ground. The defense gave up 392 total yards but had four more sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. QB Quincy Carter was awesome in the game completing 23-36 for 221 yards and 3 TDs. WR Terry Glenn stepped up his game snagging 6 catches for 83 yards and 2 TDs. S Darren Woodson had another solid game, recording 7 tackles and 1 assist. S Tony Dixon had both of the forced fumbles. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Out (5 Weeks) CB Derek Ross: Sprained Knee - Questionable (2 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (17 Weeks) LB Al Singleton: Broken Thumb - Questionable (3 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Preseason Week 5: Oakland (2-1) @ Dallas (2-0-1) Line: Oakland by 6 Preview So far I am very happy with the way the team has played. Our defense has played awesome and the offense hasn't been half bad either. We will look to finish the preseason without a loss as the Raiders come to Texas Stadium. Oakland is lead by the arm of QB Rich Gannon. If we can contain Gannon and stop Oakland's wide receivers we can win this game. Result We got the opening kickoff and quickly saw 4th down. Sitting on our own 39 yard line, Coach Norris decides to try and fake punt on 4th & 2. And obviously we are stopped, after TE Jason Witten allows P Oliver Maffett to be sacked. Oakland then takes to ball with short field position and gets a 5-yd TD run from RB Charlie Garner. Both defenses would play extremely well and Oakland would attempt a 60-yd FG from K Sebastian Janikowski before halftime that sailed wide right. We trailed at halftime 7-0. Having played so well on defense in the first half, we really thought we had a chance. Oakland took the ball on the opening drive of the second half down to the DAL26 and Janikowski would miss a 43-yd FG wide right. Oakland would get on the board again late in the 3rd, thanks to DEFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE on us, that would setup a Janikowski 23-yd FG and give Oakland a 10-0 lead. First play of our next drive, QB Chad Hutchinson would hit WR Reggie Swinton for an 80-yd TD to get us right back in the game, 10-7. With 8:56 left in the 4th, Hutchinson looked to be taking the team downfield for some points, when he was picked of by S Derrick Gibson. Gibson returned it 20-yds to the DAL16. RB Justin Fargas would then take it in for Oakland from 6-yds out, giving the Raiders a 17-7 lead. Janikowski would again lineup for a FG late in the 4th but miss a 53-yarder this time. Oakland would seal the win, when Hutchinson threw an interception to CB Louis Flannery in the endzone to end the game. We lose our preseason finale 17-7. Game MVP: WR Jerry Rice - 6 receptions, 99 yards Key Stats By far our best defensive game in terms of total yards allowed, as we held the Raiders to 322 yards. But they had no turnovers, three sacks and only one forced fumble. QB Chad Hutchinson had a rough day, going 15-22, 156 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs. WR Joey Galloway had only 6 receptions for 61 yards and WR Reggie Swinton added 2 catches for 91 yards and our lone TD. P Oliver Maffett had another strong game with 8 punts for an average of 40.1 and 3 inside the 20. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Doubtful (4 Weeks) CB Derek Ross: Sprained Knee - Probable (1 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) LB Al Singleton: Broken Thumb - Questionable (3 Weeks) CB Donald Mitchell: Sprained Thumb - Probable (5 Weeks) DE Greg Ellis: Turf Toe - Probable (Unknown) Last edited by jshipman2 : 11-27-2003 at 07:28 AM. |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 1: Atlanta (0-0) @ Dallas (0-0) Line: Dallas by 1 Preview I feel as though we had a pretty successful preseason. We have got a lot of injuries on this team, which we are going to have to play through and hopefully we can get some guys healthy and not lose anyone else. QB Michael Vick comes to Dallas wanting to prove that his rookie season wasn't no fluke. However, the "Unknown Bandits" on defense want nothing more than to stuff Vick on every down. Should be interesting to see how we start the regular season. Result The teams come out and do nothing for the 1st quarter as it is a defensive battle of field position. Atlanta gets in a good drive at the start of the 2nd and is rewarded with a K Jay Feely 48-yd FG. On our next drive, QB Quincy Carter would fumble and it would be recovered by DE Travis Hall for Atlanta. Our defense would hold and Feely would hit a 31-yd FG to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead. However, the 'Boys would drive right before half, keyed by a 33-yd run from RB Troy Hambrick that would setup a 40-yd FG from K Billy Cundiff. We trailed at halftime 6-3. Having played such great defense in the first half, I knew my team had a great shot at winning this game. Atlanta's opening drive was quickly stopped when Vick threw in interception to CB Derek Ross at the ATL48, that Ross would return 26-yds to the ATL22. With such great field position, I just knew we were going to take the lead. However, two FALSE STARTS and a sack lead to Cundiff attempting a 39-yd FG, which he missed. Atlanta couldn't do anything on their next couple of drives and we mounted another great drive with 4:42 left in the 3rd but again the offense stalled deep in Falcon territory and Cundiff would miss a 49-yd FG wide left. Atlanta would add another good drive in the 4th but Feely would pull a Cundiff and miss from 38-yds. Our offense had two possessions in the final minutes of the 4th but couldn't do anything with the ball. We lose this heartbreaker 6-3. After the game Coach Norris could be heard screaming at Cundiff outside the Dallas locker room. Game MVP: LB Keith Brooking - 6 tackles, 2 sacks Key Stats Our defense played inspired football only to comeup with a loss to show for it. They held QB Michael Vick and the Falcons to 220 total yards! They had 7 hurries, 2 sacks and 1 interception. Vick finished 12-29 for 115 yards and 1 INT. He ran the ball 4 times for 28 yards. RB Troy Hambrick had a solid day for us, rushing 22 times for 91 yards. QB Quincy Carter didn't play bad at all, completing 23-35 for 182 yards. FB Richie Anderson had 8 receptions for 59 yards. Obviously, K Billy Cundiff was 1/3 in FGs which cost us the game. DT La'Roi Glover had 10 tackles and 2 assists. G Larry Allen had a bad day, picking up only 1 key block in 11 opportunities. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Doubtful (4 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) LB Al Singleton: Broken Thumb - Probable (2 Weeks) CB Donald Mitchell: Sprained Thumb - Probable (4 Weeks) DE Greg Ellis: Turf Toe - Probable (Unknown) S Roy Williams: Hyperextened Knee - Out (3 Weeks) |

Transaction Update!!!
Due to a rash of injuries lately, GM Justin Shipman was forced to make a couple of player moves today. The Cowboys have placed T Flozell Adams on injured reserve and he will miss the entire season. T Freddie Neill (6/31) was signed to backup new starter Al Johnson. Also, S Roy Williams was injured in the game against the Falcons and has a hyperextended knee and is out for at least a couple games. The Cowboys released CB Andrew Davison and signed S Gus Roberson (21/48) to backup S Darren Woodson and S Tony Dixon. |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 2: Dallas (0-1) @ New York (N) (0-1) Line: New York by 8 Preview Last week's loss to the Falcons I thought gave us something to build upon, as the defense played great and kept us in the ball game. We will have to play just as good this week as we face a Giants team that has great receivers and a good running game. Result On New York's opening possession we looked to have them stopped on 4th & 1 only to get called for a ROUGHING THE KICKER penalty. The Giants then drove six plays and got a 27-yd TD run from RB Tiki Barber. Trailing 7-0 early, the 'Boys came right back with an 8 play, 72-yd drive from QB Quincy Carter that ended with a 4-yd TD to WR Reggie Swinton. We would take the lead with 5:22 left in the 2nd when S Darren Woodson picked off QB Kerry Collins and returned it 84-yds for a TD and a 14-7 lead. That lead was short lived however, as the Giants come right back and Collins hits WR Amani Toomer for a 22-yd TD before half. We go to the locker room tied 14-14. Both defenses would step it up a notch in the 3rd as both offenses were unable to get anything going. Carter would make his only mistake of the game in the 4th, throwing an interception to CB William Peterson at the DAL29 that he returned 13-yds to the DAL16. The defense would hold and New York would settle for a K Matt Bryant 32-yd FG and a 17-14 lead. Our next drive would result in a punt before the Giants got the ball with 7:38 left. The possession was a short one as LB Dexter Coakley picked off Collins for the second time and returned it 21-yds for a TD. The Giants would miss a FG late, as we hold on to win 21-17. Game MVP: LB Dexter Coakley - 8 tackles, 3 assists, 1 INT, 1 TD Key Stats RB Troy Hambrick had another solid week, carrying the ball 22 times for 87 yards. QB Quincy Carter didn't play too bad, as he completed 15/25 for 138 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. K Billy Cundiff missed another FG and has missed three in two games. LB Dexter Coakley had 8 tackles, 3 assists and 1 interception for a TD. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Questionable (3 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) LB Al Singleton: Broken Thumb - Probable (2 Weeks) CB Donald Mitchell: Sprained Thumb - Probable (3 Weeks) DE Greg Ellis: Turf Toe - Probable (Unknown) S Roy Williams: Hyperextened Knee - Questionable (2 Weeks) TE Dan Campbell: Pulled Groin - Questionable (1 Week) G Larry Allen: Seperated Shoulder - Out (3 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 4: Dallas (1-1) @ New York (A) (1-2) Line: New York by 8 Preview The team continues to look good but injuries are really starting to pile up, which causes me great concern. We travel back to New York for the second time in three weeks, this time to play the Jets. The Jets picked up their first win of the season last week against the Patriots, 16-8. We released CB Jemeel Powell this week so we could keep recently signed S Gus Roberson on the roster. Also, we moved TE James Whalen to the inactive roster, so FB Richie Anderson is the teams new 3rd string tightend. Result The game gets off to a slow start as neither offense could get anything going in the 1st quarter. On our first possession of the 2nd quarter, QB Quincy Carter would put together a nice scoring dirve. On the drive he hit WR Joey Galloway for 16-yds and RB Troy Hambrick had an 8-yd run, setting up a 3-yd TD from Carter to WR Reggie Swinton. QB Vinny Testaverde would then hit WR Santana Moss for 27-yds to setup a K Doug Brien 45-yd FG. Leading 7-3, we got the ball with 3:42 left in the half and Swinton would fumble at the DAL30 an the ball would be recovered by DE Shaun Ellis. Jets capitalize on our fumble as Testaverde hits TE Anthony Becht for 19-yds, setting up another Brien FG of 19-yds, making the halftime score 6-6. Feeling our team played pretty well except for the one turnover, we were optimistic about the second half. Both defenses would play tough through most of the 3rd until FB Richie Anderson broke a 39-yd run for us down to the NYJ14. Carter then hit WR Antonio Bryant for 11-yds to the NYJ3 and WR Joey Galloway would score on the next play on a 2-yd pass from Carter. With 0:30 remaining in the 3rd, the Jets would stop us and force a punt. Moss would loss 6 yards on the return and after being hit by S Derek Ross would fumble and T Al Johnson would recover for us at the NYJ23. K Billy Cundiff would add a 27-yd FG after the Jets defense stopped us. With a 16-6 lead and 10:05 left, Hambrick would take the team on his back. The "Brick" would carry the ball eight times for 36 yards and in the process run 6:42 off the clock. New York would get the ball back and quickly go 40 yards but two straight sacks by S Roy Williams and DT La'Roi Glover pushed them back with Glover causing Testaverde to fumble on his sack, which Glover then covered up to give us the ball back. We got the ball back but went 3 & out and punted. Testaverde then hit WR Jonathan Carter for 47-yds but time would run out after Glover sacked Testaverde again with :07. Game MVP: QB Quincy Carter - 20/28, 104 yards, 2 TDs Key Stats The defense was key again. They held the Jets to 289 total yards, had seven sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. RB Troy "The Brick" Hambrick had yet another solid game with 22 carries for 79 yards. FB Richie Anderson was the leading receiver for us with 10 receptions for 44 yards. DE Greg Ellis recorded 7 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 hurries, while DT La'Roi Glover added 5 tackles, 2 assists, 1.5 sacks and 1 hurry. CB Derek Ross forced 2 of the Jets fumbles. Injuries TE Jeff Robinson: Broken Clavicle - Probable (1 Weeks) T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) CB Donald Mitchell: Sprained Thumb - Probable (1 Weeks) DE Greg Ellis: Turf Toe - Probable (Unknown) G Larry Allen: Seperated Shoulder - Out (2 Weeks) S Gus Roberson: Elbow Bursitis - Questionable (3 Weeks) LB Dexter Coakley: Sprained Knee - Questionable (3 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 5: Arizona (3-1) @ Dallas (2-1) Line: Dallas by 3 Preview We have looked forward to this game all year, as RB Emmitt Smith makes his return to Texas Stadium after his off-season comment, "It felt like being a diamond surrounded by trash" describing the Cowboys last season. Smith has played in all Arizona's games so far on special teams but RB Josh Scobey is the Cardinals starting running back. Arizona enters this game having won two in a row and three out of their first four games. QB Jeff Blake has been hot winning Offensive Player Of The Week honors for Week 4. In order to win we must stop him and WR Anquan Boldin. Result We would fumble the ball on the opening drive, only to have LB Ronald McKinnon recover it for the Cardinals. Arizona would take advantage with a 33-yd pass to WR Bryant Johnson down to the DAL2 and RB Josh Scobey would run it in from 2-yds for a 7-0 lead. QB Quincy Carter would get us back in it two drives later when he hit WR Antonio Bryant for 19-yds and TE Jason Witten for 12 & 11-yds to setup K Billy Cundiff's 42-yd FG. The beginning of the 2nd saw Arizona lose the ball on a fumble from WR Kevin Kasper that was recovered by DE Ebenzer Ekuban for 19-yds to the ARI24. The first offensive play we ran after the fumble recovery was a 24-yd TD from Carter to WR Joey Galloway for a 10-7 lead. Arizona would put together a good drive with 6:13 left in the 2nd with huge catches from WR Anquan Boldin but QB Jeff Blake would throw an interception to CB Terance Newman at the DAL5 to end the drive. The Cards would hold and force us to punt. Scobey would break a 46-yd run down to the DAL12 but CB Pete Hunter and Ekuban would sack Blake and Arizona would settle for a 29-yd K Bill Gramatica FG and a 10-10 halftime tie. Neither team could do anything until the middle of the 3rd when Blake would hit Boldin but Boldin would fumble and LB Al Singleton would scoop it up and take it 15-yds to the ARI42. We can't take advantage as we go 3 and out and are forced to punt. We would get the ball back with 3:17 left in the 3rd and RB Troy Hambrick would pick up 28-yds on a nice run to the ARI40. A few plays later Carter would be sacked by DE Kyle Vanden Bosch and would lose the football but FB Richie Anderson would recover for a 7-yd gain to the ARI33. Facing a 3rd down and 3, Hambrick runs for 6-yds to keep the drive alive. We would change ends as the 4th started and Carter would hit Galloway for 14-yds to the ARI13. The Cardinals defense would hold and Cundiff would kick a 22-yd FG to give us a 13-10 lead with 12:12 remaining. Our defense would step up big the rest of the quarter. Arizona got the ball one last time with 2:41 left and started a drive that we thought was going to end with a game tying FG or the winning TD but S Roy Williams stepped in front of a Blake pass at the DAL5 and sneered an interception that he then returned 95-yds for a TD and sealed a 20-10 victory over the Cards and Emmitt. Game MVP: DE Greg Ellis - 3 tackles, 1 assist, 2.5 sacks, 3 hurries Key Stats The defense is the unsung heros of our season so far. They did give up 352 total yards to Arizona but they recorded 8 more sacks and now have 19 as a team on the season, to go along with 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries. RB Troy Hambrick was consistent again with 18 carries for 93 yards. QB Quincy Carter had a decent game going 18/34 for 181 yards and 1 TD. WR Joey Galloway had 4 receptions for 61 yards and 1 TD. K Billy Cundiff looks to be coming around finally, hitting 2/2 in FGs including a 42-yarder. DE Greg Ellis and DE Ebenezer Ekuban each had 2.5 sacks. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) DE Greg Ellis: Turf Toe - Probable (Unknown) G Larry Allen: Seperated Shoulder - Probable (1 Weeks) S Gus Roberson: Elbow Bursitis - Probable (2 Weeks) LB Dexter Coakley: Sprained Knee - Questionable (2 Weeks) RB Aveion Cason: Viral Infection - Questionable (1 Week) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (9 Weeks) WR Terry Glenn: Broken Finger - Probable (1 Week) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 6: Philadelphia (3-1) @ Dallas (3-1) Line: Philadelphia by 6 Preview This should be a great matchup of 3-1 team's. Philadelphia will be the first real test of the season. It would be nice to beat the Eagles and go to 2-0 in our division. The Eagles comes in ranked #2 in the Power Rankings with a 106 and we are at a 76. Philly comes in having won three in a row and so have we, so something has to give. Result Philadelphia comes out of the gate and goes three and out. We struggle our first drive but thanks to four penalties on the Eagles we are able to get a 51-yd FG from K Billy Cundiff for an early 3-0 lead. QB Quincy Carter takes the 'Boys on a nice drive to start the 2nd, keyed by two passes to WR Joey Galloway for 22-yds, an 8-yd run from RB Troy Hambrick and a 9-yd pass to WR Terry Glenn, that setup a 27-yd Cundiff FG. With 9:47 left in the 2nd quarter S Gus Roberson picks of QB Donovan McNabb at the PHI41 and returns it 41-yds for a TD and a 13-0 lead. Philadelphia would put together a 13 play, 80 yard drive that would be stopped at the DAL12. Facing a 4th down and 2, the Eagles decide to fake a FG but they are stopped and we go to halftime leading 13-0. We would come out and put together another good drive towards the end of the 3rd and would get another 28-yd FG from Cundiff. With 0:58 left in the 3rd, Carter would throw only his 2nd interception of the season to CB Bobby Taylor, who would take it 47-yds for a TD, cutting our lead to 16-7. Our offense would not show up again in this game as Philly dominated the 4th. McNabb lead the Eagles on a 6 play, 66 yard drive that ended with a 1-yd TD to TE Chad Lewis. Trailing by 2 with two minutes left, the Eagles and McNabb drive to the DAL32, well with K David Akers range. Akers would miss a 49-yarder that would have probably won the game for his team but instead we run out the clock and win 16-14 and improve to 4-1 on the year, good enough for 1st place in our division. Bad news after the game though as DT La'Roi Glover will miss seven weeks with a broken clavicle. Game MVP: QB Quincy Carter - 24/42, 190 yards, 1 INT Key Stats The defense holds a great Philly team to 246 total yards. Not many turnovers this game and only one sack. RB Troy Hambrick continues to shine with 19 carries for 75 yards. He is still looking for his first rushing TD of the year though. WR Joey Galloway continues to get hot, grabbing six catches for 62 yards. K Billy Cundiff was again perfect, hitting 3/3 on FGs. S Roy Williams finally showed up, recording 7 tackles in the game. As a side note, S Gus Roberson has been a decent undrafted free agent pickup. In 3 games, he has 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT and 1 TD. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) S Gus Roberson: Elbow Bursitis - Probable (1 Weeks) LB Dexter Coakley: Sprained Knee - Probable (1 Weeks) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (7 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 7: Dallas (4-1) @ Detroit (2-3) Line: Dallas by 8 Preview We come into this game favored by the most points so far for the season, so I hope that isn't a que for us to lay down and get walked on. Detroit is a team that's trying to turn its club around and looks to be on their way with players like QB Joey Harrington and WR Charles Rogers. If we can win this game, next weeks matchup with the undefeated Tampa Bay Buccaneer's will be huge. Result We get the opening kickoff and drive 7 plays for 76 yards. QB Quincy Carter would hit WR Reggie Swinton for 48-yds down to the DET18 and WR Antonio Bryant would catch a 23-yd Carter pass for a TD and an early 7-0 lead. Detroit would get on the board at the end of the quarter with a K Jason Hanson 28-yd FG, after a 45-yd run from RB James Stewart. Right away we could see that we were not getting much of a pass rush without DT La'Roi Glover which caused concern. The 2nd quarter would start and Carter would throw an interception with 9:38 left and S Brian Walker woud return it 12-yds to the DAL25. After holding them to what looked like a FG attempt, the defense gets called for a UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS PENALTY which gives the Lions more life. Moments later Harrington would hit WR Bill Schroeder for a 9-yd TD and a 10-7 lead going to the locker rooms. Detroit would comes out and put together an unbelivable drive, going 80-yds on 13 plays, capped off by a 3-yd TD to Schroeder. Trailing 17-7, Carter and the offense felt a since of urgency. Carter would lead the team down field and the end of the 3rd and would hit FB Richie Anderson on a 3-yd pass to start the 4th. We felt after this we were right back in the game but Detroit would get a 46-yd punt return to the DAL42, which would eventually lead to a RB Olandis Gary 1-yd TD run. Carter would bring the 'Boys right back and we would settle for a 43-yd FG from K Billy Cundiff to cut the Lions lead to 7. That's as close as we would get, as we got the ball one last time but couldn't do anything with it. We lose only our second game 24-17. Game MVP: QB Joey Harrington - 24/29, 229 yds, 2 TDs Key Stats We are really concerned about our pass rush after Harrington tore us apart. We allowed 341 total yards and had only 3 sacks and NO TURNOVERS! RB Troy Hambrick had 19 carries for 79 yards. QB Quincy Carter had a very good game, completing 21 of 31 for 224 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. WR Antonio Bryant had a breakout game snagging 4 receptions for 71 yards and a TD. LB Dat Nguyen, S Darren Woodson and S Roy Williams each had 7 tackles. DE Greg Ellis had 3 more hurries. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (6 Weeks) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (6 Weeks) LB Al Singleton: Sprained Knee - Doubtful (3 Weeks) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 8: Dallas (4-2) @ Tampa Bay (6-0) Line: Tampa Bay by 8 Preview I've starting off the season so good, there is cause for concern in Dallas due to injuries at linebacker and defensive line. The defense came undone against the Lions and now we travel to Tampa Bay to play the Bucs and their good offense. If we can play mistake free football on offense, we might have the chance. Otherwise, we will officially be struggling. Result Not a lot to talk about here as Tampa Bay dominated us from start to finish. Tampa Bay scored first on a fake FG on 4th and 2 with a 2-yd pass from QB Chris Simms to FB Mike Alstott. The Bucs would add a 72-yd interception return from LB Derrick Brooks, a 1-yd TD from RB Thomas Jones and a 49-yd Martin Gramatica 49-yd FG. All we could manage in the game was two K Billy Cundiff FGs of 46 & 43-yds. We drop our second game in a row 24-6. Game MVP: LB Shelton Quarles - 14 tackles, 2 assists, 1 INT, 1 hurry Key Stats The defense gets pounded again, giving up 340 total yards and only getting 1 sack. We did get two interceptions and one fumble recovery but the offense struggled and couldn't take advantage of the field position. RB Troy Hambrick again rushed 19 times for 78 yards. "The Brick" has went over 70 yards rushing in our first seven games. QB Quincy Carter had a day to forget. He completed 20 of 41 passes for 214 yards and 3 INTs ![]() Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (5 Weeks) LB Al Singleton: Sprained Knee - Questionable (2 Weeks) C Gennaro DiNapoli: Knee Contusion - Probable (1 Week) Last edited by jshipman2 : 11-30-2003 at 03:04 PM. |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 9: Washington (4-3) @ Dallas (4-3) Line: Dallas by 1 Preview This one will be the "Battle of the 4-3's". We are in desperate need of a win after dropping two straight. By some miracle we are still tied for the division lead with Philadelphia and Washington. If our offense can get back on track, I think we can win this one easily. Result Washington would take the opening drive 43-yds and score on a 43-yd K John Hall FG. That would be all the scoring until the 5:38 mark of the 2nd quarter, when QB Patrick Ramsey would hit FB Bryan Johnson for a 2-yd TD but it would be called back on a HOLDING PENALTY and the defense would toughen up and force a 4th & 12. Hall would line up for a 29-yd FG and miss wide right. Our drive before the half would feature some big plays. QB Quincy Carter started it off with a 17-yd run. Then RB Troy Hambrick took it another 19-yds before Carter hit WR Terry Glenn for 19-yds to the WAS9. Hambrick would then score on a 9-yd run, making the halftime score 7-3. We knew coming out of half that if we played the second half, like the first we would win but that required not TURNING OVER THE FOOTBALL!!! Washington takes the opening kickoff 47-yds to the DAL50. First play RB Chad Morton would rumble 48-yds to the DAL2. Two plays later, Morton would catch a 3-yd TD pass, giving his team a 10-7 lead. Carter would come right back with a 32-yd pass to WR Reggie Swinton before the offense settled for a 46-yd K Billy Cundiff FG. With 0:47 left in the 3rd, Carter throws his 1st interception of the day to CB Fred Smoot at the WAS30. He returned it 16-yds to the WAS46. Washington wouldn't score. Again, with 13:55 left in the 4th Carter throws an interception to S David Terrell at the DAL33 but this time Terrell takes it 33-yds for a TD and a 17-10 lead. Carter would throw two more interceptions in the quarter, one resulting in no points and the other in a 22-yd Hall FG. Down 20-10, Carter would hit WR Terry Glenn for a 33-yd TD with 1:25 left but it would be called back for HOLDING and on the next play Carter would hit WR Antonio Bryant for a 43-yd TD, pulling us to within 3. The onside kick would fail however and the Redskins would run out the clock. We lose the game 20-17 and the division lead. We now trail Washington and Philadelphia by one game. Game MVP: QB Patrick Ramsey - 19/31, 149 yards, 1 INT Key Stats The defense returned to shape, allowing only 274 total yards. They also had three sacks and one takeaway. RB Troy Hambrick finally broke the century mark in his 8th game of the season, rushing 14 times for 101 yards and his 1st TD of the season. QB Quincy Carter struggled again, going 22 of 44 for 243 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs ![]() Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (4 Weeks) LB Al Singleton: Sprained Knee - Probable (1 Week) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 10: Buffalo (5-3) @ Dallas (4-4) Line: Buffalo by 3 Preview I think we are all on a sinking ship and it's going down fast. We come into this game having lost three in a row and a facing the AFC East division leaders in the Buffalo Bills. We must put pressure on QB Drew Bledsoe and force him to make mistakes. The defense must also be able to contain RB Travis Henry in order for us to have any chance. Result Buffalo scored twice in the 2nd quarter, two FGs from K Rian Lindell for a 6-0 Buffalo lead at the half. Our only points would come in the 3rd quarter after a S Roy Williams interception of QB Drew Bledsoe that Williams returned 38-yds to give us good field position. A few minutes later, K Billy Cundiff would hit a 33-yd FG to make it a 6-3 game. On the interception by Williams, DE Greg Ellis was seriously hurt. We learned after the game that Ellis will miss the next 28 weeks with a torn rotator cuff. Bledsoe would lead the Bills to a TD in the 4th, when he hit WR Eric Moulds for 6-yds. That's how it would end, we lose yet another one 13-3. After the game we signed DT Rocky Bernard. Bernard was originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 5th round of the 2002 draft. Bernard will try to fill the void left by the loss of Ellis. Game MVP: QB Drew Bledsoe - 22/39, 223 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT Key Stats RB Troy Hambrick for the 1st time all season didn't reach at least 70 rushing yards, finishing the game with 18 carries for 57 yards. QB Quincy Carter was 17 of 35 for 132 yards and 1 INT. The interception was the 8th thrown by Carter in the last three games. LB Dexter Coakley had 9 tackles and 1 assist in the game. LB Date Nguyen and S Darren Woodson each added 8 tackles. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DE Greg Ellis: Torn Rotator Cuff - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Questionable (3 Weeks) LB Al Singleton: Sprained Knee - Probable (1 Week) Last edited by jshipman2 : 11-30-2003 at 05:48 PM. |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 11: Dallas (4-5) @ New England (1-8) Line: Dallas by 4 Preview Well if we lose this one, we are probably going to kiss the playoffs goodbye and start looking at next years roster and soon to be free agents. New England looks like a team we should beat but then again this losing streak started with a Detroit team that looked like an easy win. Win or lose, I want to make it through this game without losing anyone for a long-term amount of time. Result New England dominated this one throughout. They got things started early with a lot of running plays and gained 45-yds on the ground on the opening drive before QB Tom Brady threw a 27-yd TD to WR Bethel Johnson. Brady would take the Patriots down the field again at the start of the 2nd that would end with a 3-yd TD run by RB Kevin Faulk. With :08 Brady would hit WR Deion Branch for 30-yds, setting up a 30-yd K Adam Vinatieri to go into halftime. The Patriots would not let up in the second half. We would get called for DEFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE about halfway through the 3rd and the Pats would get the ball at the DAL1. Brady hit RB Antowain Smith for a 1-yd TD. The first play from our offense after the Pats TD would be a 41-yd TD pass from QB Quincy Carter to TE Dan Campbell, making the score 24-10. New England would add a 4-yd TD run from Smith in the 4th to go along with two Vinatieri FGs and we loss again 37-10. Key Stats The defense gave up season highs in points allowed (37) and total yards (419). They sacked Brady only once and had no takeaways. RB Troy Hambrick was held to 9 carries for 20 yards. ![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 12: Carolina (5-5) @ Dallas (4-6) Line: Carolina by 3 Preview Carolina comes to Texas Stadium having won three out of their last four. Carolina has a very good defense but a mediocre offense. If we can get some takeaways we can win this one easily and get some confidence back for our defense. Hopefully, next week DT La'Roi Glover will return and give us some much needed pass rush. Result Carolina scored right out of the gate with a 7-yd pass from QB Rodney Peete to WR Kris Mangum and it looked as though we were on our way to losing another one. The Panthers would add to their lead with a RB DeShaun Foster 3-yd run at the start of the 2nd. RB Troy Hambrick would get us back in the game with TD runs of 10 and 18-yds but Carolina would add another 4-yd run from Foster and lead at half 21-14. We would run away with the game in the second half. K Billy Cundiff would kick two FGs and we would add a 52-yd TD pass from QB Quincy Carter to FB Richie Anderson. RB Aveion Cason would also score on a 2-yd TD. We finally end our losing streak, downing the Panthers 34-21. Game MVP: G Larry Allen - 1 fumble recovery, 5 key run blocks, 0 sacks allowed Key Stats The defense returned to form, especially in the second half. They gave up 326 total yards but had four sacks and three takeaways. RB Troy Hambrick returned to form after two straight bad games. He rushed 29 times for 123 yards and 2 TDs. QB Quincy Carter completed 16/27 for 189 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. FB Richie Anderson had 6 receptions for 74 yards and 1 TD. DE Ebenezer Ekuban had 8 tackles, 1 assist and 0.5 sack. ![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 13: Miami (6-5) @ Dallas (5-6) Line: Miami by 4 Preview After having beat Carolina we still have hope of possibly sneaking into the playoffs if we can finish 9-7 or 10-6. The Dolphins feature a great defense so our offense must have its A GAME today or we don't stand a chance. Result Miami would get three FGs from K Olindo Mare and a 1-yd TD run from RB Ricky Williams after a 13 play, 80 yard drive. All we could manage against the Dolphins defense is a 71-yd fumble return for a TD from FB Jamar Martin. We lose this one 16-7 but we did seriously injure QB Jay Fiedler and he will miss the rest of the season. However, we received our own bad news after the game. We rushed DT La'Roi Glover back a week early and he re-broke his clavicle and will miss the rest of the season. DT Warren Wheeler has been signed to replace Glover. Game MVP: DT Tim Bowens - 3 tackles, 4 assists, 2 sacks Key Stats RB Troy Hambrick had another strong game carrying the ball 18 times for 97 yards. QB Quincy Carter could never get on track completing just 17/38 for 142 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs and 4 sacks. S Darren Woodson had a double digit tackle day with 11 tackles and 3 assists. S Roy Williams added 8 tackles. ![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 14: Dallas (5-7) @ Philadelphia (7-5) Line: Philadelphia by 8 Preview We won the first game between these two teams in Week 6 16-14. We was able to hold off a late Philadelphia rally to win the game. It's always tough going to Philadelphia to play. If we lose this one, we can pretty much kiss the playoffs goodbye and start concentrating on the College Draft and free agency. Negotiations with RB Troy Hambrick have hit a snag and Hambrick has decided not to listen to anymore offers and will not resign. Result The Eagles dominated us from start to finish in this one as we lose 31-10. The Eagles got 5 ![]() Game MVP: K David Akers - 5/5 FGs, 2/2 XPs Key Stats The defense didn't play as bad as it looks, causing four fumbles and getting three recoveries. The offense just couldn't do anything with the ball. Carter probably sealed his fate with another horrible game. Carter was 18/40 for 149 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs ![]() ![]() Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DE Greg Ellis: Torn Rotator Cuff - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (Season) QB Quincy Carter: Bruised Heel - Probable (1 Week) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 15: Dallas (5-8) @ Washington (6-7) Line: Washington by 2 Preview What do you do with a team that is 1-7 in its last 8 games and is plagued by injuries? Look forward to next season! We are just going through the motions trying to finish this season and get to the off-season. We are seeking revenge against the hated Redskins as the beat us in Week 9, 20-17. Result We would get on the board first with a RB Troy Hambrick 4-yd TD run in the 1st but the Redskins would counter with a 5-yd TD run from RB Trung Canidate. K John Hall would give the Redskins a three point lead with a 46-yd FG but QB Quincy Carter would hit WR Joey Galloway for a 22-yd TD before the half, as we go into the locker room leading this one 14-10. We really felt good about the way the defense played in the first half, which gave us hope that we could win. We would account for all the scoring in the 3rd, as Carter would hit FB Richie Anderson for 8-yds, increasing our lead to 21-10. But the Redskins wouldn't give up as they got two FGs from Hall in the 4th, along with a QB Patrick Ramsey 1-yd TD to WR Laveranues Coles with :26 left to give Washington a come from behind win, 22-21. Game MVP: DE Regan Upshaw - 4 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks Key Stats This was the first time we lead going into the 4th quarter and lost. The defense showed up for this game holding Washington to 277 total yards. They also got 4 sacks and 2 takeaways. QB Quincy Carter has heard the fans calling for his head, so what does he do but respond with a 24/34 day, throwing for 209 yards and 2 TDs. FB Richie Anderson again caught 11 passes for 79 yards and 1 TD. WR Joey Galloway added 7 receptions for 78 yards and 1 TD. Anderson trails New Orlean Saints WR Joe Horn by 8 receptions for the NFC lead. LB Dat Nguyen had 8 tackles and 2 assists. Rookie LB Bradie James recorded 4 tackles, 3 assists and 2 INTs. DE Kenyon Coleman had 4 hurries and 1 sack. ![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 16: New York (N) (5-9) @ Dallas (5-9) Line: Dallas by 2 Preview The Giants come to Texas Stadium in a rematch of a Week 2 battle that saw us hold on for a 21-17 victory. With QB Quincy Carter questionable with a sprained knee, we have decided not to go with QB Chad Hutchinson as the starter for this game. Instead, we are going to give the ball to rookie QB Tony Romo to see how he performs. Result The Giants would take the opening kickoff and drive 86-yds on six plays and score on a 29-yd TD catch from RB Tiki Barber. QB Tony Romo got his turn and brought us right back and would tie the game with a 15-yd pass to WR Terry Glenn in the back of the endzone. K Billy Cundiff would add a 43-yd FG late in the 1st to give us a 10-7 lead after one. The 2nd quarter would prove to be a different story and our undoing. The Giants scored to start the 2nd on an 11-yd run from Barber. They would then get two straight FGs from K Mike Hollis to increase their lead to 20-10. Before half QB Kerry Collins hit Barber for a 5-yd TD. Halftime score 27-10. Cundiff would add another FG in the 3rd, a 44-yarder to make it 27-13. The Giants would run away though as they added another 2-yd TD from Collins to WR Tim Carter, a Hollis 21-yd FG and a 2-yd TD run from Barber. We get blown away 44-13. After the game we learned that backup FB Jamar Martin has been lost for what's left of the season with a seperated shoulder. We signed undrafted free agent FB James Gohn to fill in for the last week of the season. Game MVP: RB Tiki Barber - 30 carries, 222 yards, 2 TD* * Named Offensive Player of the Week Key Stats RB Tiki Barber was the biggest reason we lost this game as the defense yielded 286 rushing yards, be far the most given up by us all season. QB Tony Romo didn't fair to well in his first ever NFL start. He completed 17/33 for 169 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs. DE Ebenezer Ekuban had 7 tackles. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DE Greg Ellis: Torn Rotator Cuff - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (Season) QB Quincy Carter: Sprained Knee - Probable (1 Week) DT Rocky Bernard: Hyperextended Knee - Out (Season) FB Jamar Martin: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) |

![]() ![]() 2003 Regular Season Week 17: Dallas (5-10) @ New Orleans (0-15) Line: Dallas by 3 Preview This is a must win game because we do not want to be the lone team that lost to the HORRIBLE New Orleans Saints. We are really looking forward to the end of this game, which marks the end of a good season turned really bad. Result Both defenses play a great first half, allowing the opposing offense to get nothing going and we go to the half scoreless. K John Carney would finally give his team a 3-0 lead on a 50-yd FG with 9:24 left in the 3rd. Not to be out done, K Billy Cundiff came right back with a 51-yarder of his own, to tie the game at 3. Carney would add a 36-yd FG to start the 4th and on our first possession of the 4th quarter, RB Troy Hambrick would fumble at the DAL20 and Saints CB Fred Thomas would recover and return it 11-yds to the DAL10 and on the first play the Saints would run, QB Aaron Brooks would throw a TD to WR Donte Stallworth for a quick 13-3 lead with 14:12 remaining. With 8:35 left we would start our comeback, going 86 yards on 12 plays getting a Hambrick 7-yd TD run to pull within 3. We would stop the Saints and then drive 46 yards on 11 plays and settle for a Cundiff 35-yd FG to tie the game at 13-13 with :31 left. New Orleans would get the ball back with :26 on the clock and Brooks would throw an interception at the NO33 to LB Dexter Coakley. On the change of possession, Cundiff came in with :04 left and missed a game-winning 50-yd FG. On to OVERTIME!!! The Saints would win the toss and start their first drive at the NO41. After driving 33-yds, they sent in Carney to win the game with a 43-yd FG. But it went wide left and we took over on the DAL33. QB Quincy Carter then drove us 67-yds and we got the game-winning TD on a 8-yd run from RB Aveion Cason. We win in OT 19-13 and the Saints become the first winless team in the history of the NFL, losing sixteen straight games. Game MVP: FB Richie Anderson - 7 receptions, 49 yards Key Stats RB Troy Hambrick rushed for 113 yards on 25 carries and had 1 TD. RB Aveion Cason had his best game of the season, rushing 9 times for 51 yards and 1 TD. QB Quincy Carter finished 20/34 for 175 yards. WR Joey Galloway had 7 receptions for 83 yards. LB Dat Nguyen finished the game with 12 tackles and 2 assists, while S Darren Woodson had 11 tackles and 2 assists. Injuries T Flozell Adams: Torn Lateral Knee Ligament - Out (Season) G Tyson Walter: Severe Hamstring Pull - Out (Season) DT Daleroy Steward: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) DE Greg Ellis: Torn Rotator Cuff - Out (Season) DT La'Roi Glover: Broken Clavicle - Out (Season) DT Rocky Bernard: Hyperextended Knee - Out (Season) FB Jamar Martin: Seperated Shoulder - Out (Season) CB Terence Newman: Strained Elbow Tendon - Out (2 Weeks) S Roy Williams: Broken Toe - Questionable (3 Weeks) |
