I Was Offered A Ticket to Tonight's World Series Game...
...and I'm currently sitting at a keyboard in Tallahassee. Life sucks sometimes. Wasn't worth pissing off my boss, abandoning the family for the night (which is a family night out), and paying $500 to fly down. But DAMN! this sucks.

That does suck. My condolences. The pivotal game of the series, most likely (but aren't they all?). Who offered it?

A friend of mine from law school. Said 2 tickets "fell" into his lap. A good friend of ours who is in Orlando is driving down to take one of the tickets, the other was for me. Now it's not.

Yeah, I know. If I was 3 or 4 hours away, I'd have made the drive. Eight hours is a bit much, seeing as though I'd need to be back at work the next morning.

I should mention, the offer came at 10am this morning. Not much notice for a guy 450 miles away.

It takes you 8 hours to drive 450 miles?
It's called the gas pedal, man. Step on it...

Yeah but with all the old people on the roads down there, I imagine most people end up going about 40 on the highway. |

I was factoring in the possibility of driving on I-95 through rush-hour. And actually, Miami is probably another 30-50 miles from where I used to drive. But yes, it usually took me about 7 hours or so to drive to Ft. Lauderdale. I just set it on 75 and listen to music for 7-8 hours. Believe me, doing 90 in a 1999 Mazda 626 isn't as thrilling as you might think it is.

That's ok, speeds increase exponentially as you make your way towards Miami. In the city you better go to warp or else you're screwed.

I would have said no regardless. I would be cool to see a world series game but at the same time I have no interest in the outcome. Don't get me wrong, if I lived within an hour or so of the location I would go but I would fly to it OR pay large somes of money.

Oh, but I disagree with every element of this statement.
