![]() I have not played this game too much, but was curious. Because you can be fired in the game, can you also be hired by top notch schools once your reputation grows more?
How long are contracts? How do you know what jobs are up for grabs at the end of the year for head coaching positions? I am curious as to the involvement of this game from t he head coaches standpoint on job offers and available positions and contracts. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks! |

At the end of the season you will get an email detailing what coaches were hired/fired. I can't remember the menu choice, (it is the one where you check academic reputation and set ticket prices I believe) there is an option to check available coaching opportunites (2nd option from the bottom). If any schools are interested in hiring you, Yes will be listed in the Amenable column. You can only access this at one certain point at the beginning of the season. Once you schedule opponents you will no longer be able to change jobs. There aren't really any contracts. You can be fired after any season. If you have had several good seasons, one shitty season may be enough to get you sacked.

Word of warning, don't expect anyone to hire you if you are actually a good coach. I've never understood it, but apparently the only way you get offered other jobs is through some bizarre mix of decent and mediocre seasons. If you go to a bowl every year and actually contend for the national title you will never be offered another job.

But this isn't unrealistic. Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Larry Coker, or Frank Beamer aren't going to be interviewed for too many college coaching jobs because there aren't going to be too many colleges that will draw them away from where they are.

The game doesn't offer you jobs, it lists schools that are amenable to you taking over their coaching job. If a top coach went to another school and said "I'm tired of coaching at school x, I'd like to interview for the position you have open", I'm sure damn near any school in the country would be interested. *edited for spelling* Last edited by Nyarlahotep : 09-25-2003 at 03:51 PM. |

![]() Thank you very much for the info on the game guys. I am still kind of new to it. I have had the game for almost a year now, i just never really got into it. Most I had played before most of you hooked me on the dynasty stuff here was maybe 3 or 4 games into the season. That was not a real good time allotment to see if i really liked it. Granted, I had already bought it, so I am sure the creator could give a crap if I bought it and let it sit on my shelf forever!
Anyways, that helps out. I rather ask questions here, then read the entire help topics, and besides, you guys give better advice anyways on how to compete and what worked and didn't work. Appreciate it! |
