Exclamation FOFC All-Time NFL Challenge Round 1 - Team IV vs. Team VII

Which team would win head-to-head, with all of the players in their prime?

Team IV:

Coach - Bill Parcells (50)
QB: Dan Fouts (50)
RB: Bo Jackson (100)
FB: Mike Alstott (10)
WR: Lynn Swann (80)
WR: Marvin Harrison (10)
TE: Mark Bavaro (35)
C: Frank Gatski (50)
G: Larry Little (10)
G: Ron Stone (10)
T: Lomas Brown (10)
T: Stan Jones (50)
K: Morten Andersen (20)
P: Jeff Feagles (10)
Ret: Brian Mitchell (50)
ST: Mark Kelso (10)
DL: Michael Strahan (45)
DL: Warren Sapp (30)
DL: Ernie Holmes (50)
DL: Dwight White (50)
LB: LB Nick Buoniconti (50)
LB: Dick Butkus (75)
LB: Bobby Bell (50)
CB: Troy Vincent (15)
CB: Ty Law (10)
S: Willie Wood (60)
S: John Lynch (10)

Offense:
The passing from this offense will be unstoppable. With reliable receivers like Swann, Harrison, Bavaro and Alstott and Jackson out of the backfield, Fouts has more than enough targets. A top notch line offers good protection and will open many holes for a Parcells-style smash-mouth running from Jackson.

Defense:
Sapp and Strahan offer today's best pass rush and run stopping lineman. The other half of the line is half of the famed Pittsburgh Steel Curtain. No one can run on this line and QB's will be constantly harassed. A consistent HOF squad of linebackers will control their area of the field. Law and Vincent are among the best corners in the league. They are a threat to intercept the ball at any time. With Lynch and Wood covering the deep, this secondary defense will punish all receivers.

=============

Team VII:

Coach: Don Shula (6)
QB: Joe Montana (652)
RB: Earl Campbell (2)
FB: Jim Taylor (12)
WR: Don Hutson (62)
WR: Drew Pearson (19)
TE: John Mackey (16)
C: Jeff Bostic (7)
G: Mark May (7)
G: Russ Grimm (8)
T: Joe Jacoby (14)
T: George Starke (8)
K: Garo Yepremian (3)
P: Todd Sauerbrun (1)
Ret: George McAfee (11)
ST: Larry Izzo (1)
DT: Junious "Buck" Buchanan (27)
DL: Cortez Kennedy (11)
DE: Jack Youngblood (16)
DE: Jason Taylor (4)
LB: Jack Ham (17)
LB: Dave Wilcox (13)
LB: Joe Schmidt (32)
CB: Willie Brown (15)
CB: Lem Barney (16)
S: Steve Atwater (11)
S: Brian Dawkins (9)

Offense:
Joe Montana won four Super Bowls for the 49ers, garnering three Lombardi trophies. His 92-yard drive in the closing seconds of Super Bowl XXIII is the stuff of legends, just one of his 31 career fourth-quarter comebacks.

Don Hutson, the Babe Ruth of receivers, and the sure-handed Drew Pearson each can stretch the field with the best in history.

Who better to block for Montana and bruiser Earl Campbell than the rugged Jim Taylor and all five of the original Hogs, the most successful offensive line in history with three Super Bowl wins of their own. It's all about cohesion.

Defense:
Three Hall of Fame linebackers with 25 combined Pro-Bowl invitations comprise the heart of a tough 4-3 defense. On the outside, Jack Ham and Dave Wilcox could contain the fastest of runners. In the middle, Joe Schmidt always knew the right call.

Willie Brown and Lem Barney are two of the eight cornerbacks named to the Hall and had 110 interceptions between them. Brian Dawkins, today's premier safety, and eight-time Pro-Bowler Steve Atwater back them up.

A front line features Buck Buchanan and Cortez Kennedy inside and Jack Youngblood pairs with today's top sack man, Jason Taylor, on the outside.

The Hogs! Whoever picked team VII is a genius... although team IV would win if it were "Video" Bo Jackson at RB...

Team VII defeats Team IV, 19-14, and moves to the semis.
