Football is here. *applause*

And I'm the moron who's up at 5 AM to watch the live broadcast of the Jets-Buccaneers game from Japan.

Welcome back football! It's been much, much too long.

Wow, I am actually watching a LIVE sports event. Thank you ESPN and the NFL.

I have had it with NBC's taped delayed olympics and having to watch the USA soccer team on the Spanish channell because ABC wanted to air the game during the middle of the day.

I was surprised at the total lack of defense by both teams on the first drive. You usually here stuff like "the defenses are ahead of the offenses at this point" at this time of the year. I think the Charles Lee call was bad too, and why they would overrule the ref who clearly had the best view is beyond me.

Cowboys won!!!

OK, it was just a scrimmage, and it was just against the Texans, but it's damn good to see the Silver and Blue moving the ball on offense...

I just finished watching the second half (at my leisure), and a couple things stood out:

1. Simms looked pretty good.
2. Bollinger looked good for the jets when he had time. He was a mess under pressure.
3. The Jets backup left tackle was getting burned every play by a speed rush.
4. The Bucs looked like a MUCH deeper team. Their 2nd and 3rd units were crushing the comparable Jets units.
5. Great play by Waynesly (sp?) on the sack/fumble/TD return. He was looking very fast. I'm too lazy to look up when or if he was drafted, but it looks like he should make the team deep on the DB chart.
6. Thomas Jones had some flashes, but was very hesitant in the holes earlier in the game.
7. RB Sean Bennett pretty much asked to be cut with his performance for the Jets. He had a couple of terrible plays early in the 2nd quarter.
8. Pennington looked great.
9. Curtis Conway looked surprisingly good. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten so down on losing Coles. Still, i think letting your young QB's go-to-guy walk was a really stupid move.
10. Is Jim Miller going to be healthy enough to even give Shuan King a run for the #2 job?
11. King looked pretty solid at QB. Maybe a second year in the offense will be a big difference for him. I hope so, I thought he got a bit of a raw deal the last few years.

I have a softball game during the Pack-Chiefs game on Monday night. If we win at 6:30, we're the league champs and can go watch the Packer game, maybe even catching a series from the starters. If we lose, we have to play a second game right away for the title. Just a little extra incentive to kick some ass!!

Why don't they just play the American Bowl in France while they are at it?

8,000?

There were 30,000 people at the Cowboys-Texans scrimmage. I repeat, 30,000 for a freakin scrimmage. Now that's impressive...

Well remember JeeberD we in California have lives here unlike in Texas where a typical friday night for a city is going to a high school football game.
