FOF4: Shaun Alexander, the punting running back?

Has anyone ever seen a running back who punts?

Wow, 60 is his long. He's put 2 inside the 20. Shaun Alexander All-Pro punter/RB.

42.9 with a Long of 60.. Not bad.

I wonder if he kicks it like that one guy who (forget which team it was, College or Pro) would run East or West and act like he may Run or Pass before finally punting away a dribbler down the field.

Wow, he's pretty good to. Better than most punters in the league. You would think that guys in the NFL would be able to punt it further than 40 yards, but nope.

12 punts in 2 games.

Sounds like Detroit.

Was he on your team and your punter got hurt, or did the AI do that? The only thing I can think of is that Detroit's kicker and punter both got hurt, so they had to use someone else to kick while the two regulars healed up.

I checked the roster of Detroit, and the punter was out, but the kicker was fine. It was the AI that did it, and it seems like he's stuck as the punter now.

LOL yeah well that's odd indeed.
plus, the fact that it is a marquee player such as Shawn Alexander facing those punting duties makes it even weirder to "accept"...although some 50 years ago some great players handled kicking/punting along with playing QB for their teams.

If this were on my team, I'll pull out the stops to make sure that the RB continued to do the punting chores as long as possible. Good luck.

Well, considering it was 2010 that he did the punting, I doubt that he's a "marquee" player anymore.

Dola--

It's nice to see that Quik gets up ridiculously early on Saturdays too, like me. Makes me feel less weird.

Well, you could pretend Shaun did quick kicks on 3rd down like Randle Cunningham use to do (and I think one of his was 80 yards....with a generous 30 yard roll.)

Sorry for the OT post.

Now some On Topic comments; I recall reading something in an other thread about RB doing the punting when the P is injured.

I remember watching the Louisville punter do this in two separate games, but the one I remember is the game where they upset Florida State in a monsoon...or at least remnants of some tropical something or other. Great game, one where I thought I would watch for a quarter on a Thursday, then it would get out of hand and I'd do my homework, however, I ended up watching the whole game instead (on second thought, even if it were 42-3, I'd probably watch the game rather than do homework anytime).
