Ken Daneyko Retires
You have to love it when someone spends 15+ years with one team and lives and breathes that team. When Steve Yzerman retires I'll cherish his memory just as much. Anyone that can stay with one team for such a long time deserves my respect in this day and age when players switch teams faster than Larry King marries another wife .

Great guy. I'll never forget in the 2000 Stanley Cup finals when he scored on Belfour. I knew then that the cup was not coming back to Dallas.

I know the feeling; I nearly broke down in tears when Darrell Green finally retired at the end of last season.
Team players like that just don't exist any more. |

Well I'm originally from Jersey (and am actually there for the summer right now) .
Syrinx: I know. It's kinda hard to root for some players when you realize they won't be on your team forever. I think Jerry Rice becoming a Raider showed that to me. Although we can always hold out hope that the current stars that came through the system will stick it out through thick and thin, and won't be traded by evil Front Offices .

Excellent story about Daneyko. It already makes me sad to think this will be Stevie Y's last season

Yeah... it's the reason why I'll root for Detroit (well, when they aren't playing the Devils ) this year. Yzerman deserves to go out on as high a note as Daneyko did.
