Mizzou up 16-3 at the half on illinois, and the defense is carrying the day so far(a nice chance of pace). Heres to a good second half!

Not sure you're being entirely fair. The first string secondary was terrific. Jerrard Tarrant as a PR is very exciting. Anthony Allen adds another dimension out of the backfield. Certainly it wasn't the cleanest of performances, but the offense still put up almost 500 yards without doing anything fancy. I'm concerned about the interior of both lines. It will be good to get Roddy Jones back on Thursday. Peeples isn't nearly the blocker he is. All in all, probably not exactly what people wanted to see, but a lot of people played, there were no serious injuries and it was an easy win.

McKnight with a spectacular 54 yard TD run. USC's rushing offense looks like it is going to be VERY good this year.

WVU didn't show much, though Jarrett Brown can throw it and the WRs look a lot more comfortable in the offense than they did last year.

Other than that, the most entertaining thing I've seen is Paulus with the choke with an honorable mention for Denard Robinson on that broken play for a TD. That was crazy fast.

Don't get too excited. SJSU is an average mid-major team.

90+ yard TD from Clausen to Floyd (third TD today for Floyd) makes it 34-0.

Believe me, I know that. Still, this offensive line is missing its best player, yet they are dominating and all of the backs are showing great big play ability.

Barkley with his first career TD pass, this one is to Rhett Ellison. Barkley is now 13 of 16 for over 220 yards.

My concern is more the 98 yds rushing allowed than the 193 passing, as well as the double digit play drives (granted those were second half affairs). I'm more concerned about the defense declining too far from last year than I am about the offense, on the whole it should be fine although the continued fumbles are an ongoing worry.

Penalties continue to hurt OkSt, now 11 for 76 yds. Still leading 17-10 with 2:32 left in Q3.

Great game for Mizzou. 37-9 win against what was supposed to be a good Illini team. Gabbert threw for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for another TD in 3 quarters of play before being taken out of the game. I'd be surprised if Mizzou isn't ranked or just a couple of spots out of the rankings next week. Just destroyed the Illini.

Oh, and Juice Williams IS terrible. When Mizzou got ahead, he was forced to throw and it was ugly.

USC wins 56-3. They went all the way to the 6th string HB in the 4th quarter and Mitch Mustain even got in for a few snaps. Over 600 yards of offense including 345 yards rushing and 6 rushing TD's. Loved the offensive balance today once they got over the 1st quarter jitters.

Of course my ISP doesn't have ESPN360.com and I have a funny feeling if I walked to campus to access it there, it'd be blacked out.

And naturally the only TV option says PPV. I'll flip the channels and see if that's the case, but I'm annoyed at missing the opening game of the year and Mallett's first start.

Of course it has the talent to be "VERY good," it does every year with the talent USC stocks. But one game against SJS doesn't tell us if USC will be able to consistently run the ball well against decent opponents throughout the season. For some teams executing well against early season opponents has been a sign of things to come, but I don't think USC has been/is one of those teams.

I think it will be this year. Assuming they can stay healthy, I think this is going to be their best offensive line in the Pete Carroll era and that is going to make a huge difference for all of their talented backs. I guess we'll see if I'm right as the season progresses.

BYU really misses Harvey Unga...can't convert a 2nd and 1 and a 3rd and 1.

Meanwhile, Wazzou is hanging around against a rising (hopefully) Stanford team.

Their WR is going to be a problem though. I see that already.

Oklahoma should be able to pull away a bit if they stop putting the ball on the ground, but it's far from guaranteed.

This could in effect be the end of OU"s season. You can't lose a Heisman Trophy quarterback (Bradford), the best tight end in the country (Gresham), and one of the best linebackers in the country (Travis Lewis) and expect to do much.

Well, if anyone can afford it, it's one of the "NFL Jr." programs: OU, USC, Florida, Texas, OSU, Michigan

Afford it and go 8-3 or 9-2, make a good bowl game? Yes. Afford it and win a national title? No.

Which, of course, leads to the question of how many 8 win seasons in a row would it take for Bob Stoops' job to be in jeopardy? 3?
