While everyone is crying a river over the call, they just showed the play and it was clearly a hold.

I think I can see how that was a hold. He did pull Adai back into him before he fell over.

It probably was, by the rules. But so are a lot of plays on the O-line that are uncalled. I say give the defensive players who aren't used to blocking the same (if not more) leeway on runbacks, especially in the playoffs. (And I don't have a rooting interest in this particular game).

Honestly, every single running play in the NFL is a hold then. I can see what you are saying, but if you are going to call a guy keeping his hands inside the shoulder pads and grabbing on holding, then there isn't any point in playing the game any more.

So every 'roughing the passer' should be legal since just about everyone else gets hit on a play? The defenders shouldn't get called for pass interference since the receivers get more leeway on interference?

You could go on and on, these have been the same rules since they've implemented them, let's not act like they're suddenly unfair cause the Chargers didn't get a td on the Colts.

So I guess Manning is a human after all. Or he is still a machine, but running Windows Vista.

Yes there is holding on every play but what we are taught that if the defender does not try and get out of it then it isn't going to be called. I've been to a few clinic and listened to NFL officials talk about their philosophy and I'll try and apply it here.

For instance, I've only seen the play once because i have been busy but this is how I would interpret the call. There was holding...Addai saw the ball carrier coming, tried to turn towards him but couldn't because he was held. The official saw this and called the holding. Yes the hands were inside but the fact that Addai was not able to turn his shoulders it signified a hold.

And FWIW when I saw it live, I thought it was a hold too.

Huge third down play by Rivers to give Sproles that chance. Best game of the weekend.

What a great time for the punt, pass, kick presentation. Nothing like killing the momentum on a great offensive game for something that trivial. Great job, NFL.

Especially if the home team is losing at that point. At that point, you won't even get pity applause.
